How can I change number of simultaneous downloads in Safari 8?

When I tried to download to download couple files, Safari download 6 files simultaneousl. Also when I changed the web page and try to download couple file from the new page, it add 6 more download to download list and actually downloads 12 files simultaneousl. This causes safari hangs and may be affect the download speed. So I think that will be good idea if i reduce number simultaneous downloa.

I know I can download one file at a time, but in other browsers there is an option for this. Also I cant sit in front of computer and download the files one by one. If you know the answer please let me know and if don't please dont erase the problem

  • How can I change where an iTunes download is saving?

My iPod has a larger capacity than my computer's hard disk, so I bought an external drive to store my music on. I moved my iTunes library folder to this G: drive and instructed future downloads to be sent there as well. This has worked well.
Problem--I'm downloading a whole season of Grey's Anatomy from iTunes, but I had forgotten to turn on the G: drive until about 10 minutes into the download. I think the TV shows are being saved to my computer, because the computer keeps crashing every 5 minutes when I try to resume the download (because of not enough space on my hard drive.) Question: How can I change the save location of a purchase that has already been started?

    this will help

  • How can I change the view of Download Folder in Dock

I used to have my Download Folder in my Dock show up as a vertical string of icons with the latest at the bottom, when I clicked on the Folder. I recently had to drag the Downloads Folder back into the Dock after it had disappeared from there.  After doing that I now notice when I click on the Downloads icon in the Dock, it now shows up as a page full of icons.  I prefer the original vertical listing.  How can I change it back?
Hope someone can help on this one.  Thanks.

That's not an option. Under Display As, you have the view options for Downloads

  • Is there a way to limit number of simultaneous downloads in safari?

It would be VERY helpful to have that. Is there a way to do it?

You should already be limited to 4 simultaneous downloads in Safari; there's no way to modify that number.

  • How can i change all the purple links in safari back to blue

I am having trouble figuring out how to change the links ive visited in safari back to blue. I have turned on PRIVATE so now my links dont turn purple onces ive visited the webpage but i can't figure out how to remove/change the already visited sites from purple back to blue! help me pleaseeee xx

    OK.
Go to SAFARI tab from the safari menu and "reset Safari"
You can keep your passwords, just uncheck that option.
once done that, quit Safari, here is the trick. CLosing the Safari Window doesn't quit the app, to quit it you can either go to "safari" tab on the safari menu and Quit safari or  press control key on the keyboard and click on the safari app and quit. that will erase those purple highlighted links

  • How can I limit the number of simultaneous downloads on my Mac?

    Hi Everyone,
I'm using an old Powerbook G4 runnnig 10.4.11.
Whenever I'm downloading a large number of files simultaneously, my OS insists on downloading them all at the same time. When I've got 50+ files coming in, it gets kind of messy and makes it hard to use the internet. Everything slows down.
It seems to me there should be a preference somewhere that will allow me to enter a number which would be the max number of files being actively downloaded. The rest of the files beyond this number would be in "queue" state, waiting their turn.
You know ... if I'm clicking on 50 files to download, I only want two or three of them downloading at one time. The rest can wait their turn.
Darned if I can find such a pref, though.
Does 10.4.11 have such a feature that will allow me to have only a small number of files actually downloading and the rest of them queued up?
    -JOHN
ps. By the way, I'm using Firefox. I don't find any such pref in Firefox, either.

Thank you for the reply. I had no idea I had so much access to Firefox prefs.
It's still a strange design though. Yep, the original setting was set to 30 simultaneous downloads. I set it to four, which would see to make my Mac more usable as four downloads are rolling while all the rest are in queue.
Only probably is, Firefox doesn't just think of what is in the download list as a "download". Once all four downloads are rolling, no more webpages will open! (Strangely, sometimes they will, but very slowly ... but usually not at all.)
Apparently, even a browser tab is a "download" and is stopped once the assigned number of simultaneous downloads is reached.
So I'm still back to not being able to limit my downloads for the benefit of having good use of my browser while downloads are coming in.
Right now, one pages where I have boo-koo downloads I want to initiate at one time, I'm clicking "download", starting the download, going to the downloads list, pausing it, getting another download, pausing it, and so on until I have a complete queue ready to go. Then I start the downloads once I know that I no longer need the internet.
That seems sort of for the birds, doesn't it?
Does anyone have any suggestions? Other specialized download programs get the concept of an active queue and a paused queue with a number-setting to determine the max downloads. Why doesn't Firefox get this? Or does it and have I just still not found it?

  • I've bought a student plan but every time I open currently downloaded programms I see an automatically opened window that says I'm using trial version and still have several days to use it. How can I change it?

I've bought a student plan but every time I open currently downloaded programms I see an automatically opened window that says I'm using trial version and still have several days to use it. How can I change it? It makes me nervous , as it demands serial number, but e-mail i've got from Adobe doesn't contain any serial number or invitation or something like that.

  • How do i limit the number of simultaneous downloads to my ipod touch?

I just purchased a new ipod touch and want to dump my entire icloud library onto it.  I figured the easiest way to do this would be to make a smart playlist that includes all my music and then just download the whole playlist (thousands of songs).  The problem is, at about 2/3 of the way through a track, the ipod touch automatically starts downloading the next track. At this point, it's trying to download about 50 tracks simultaneously and as a result is taking abotu 5 minutes to download one song.  How can I limit the number of simultaneous downloads?  Is there a faster way to load up a new ipod touch with your icloud library?  Thanks.

  • How can I change my Outlook mail settings to only download emails manually?

I am waiting for my iPhone 4S, but in the meantime I am still using my iPod 3G with iOS5.
When I go to mail, my three email accounts in Outlook automatically download new emails.
How can I change this to only manually download email, i.e., on my command/request?
I could find no such option in Settings, except for FETCH, which still downloads email when I use the account to simply read email, i.e., when I open my Inbox for a given Account, emails still automatically download.
    Thank you

    Thanks, B-rock
Yes, that's what I finally deduced.
I'd still like to read without downloading.
Still looking for a place to limit the number of emails that can be downloaded at a time.

  • If I chose the wrong folder as defaulf for downloads to go to, how can I change it?

I use download manager. I hit '''yes''' when asked if I wanted to make the folder shown as the default for future downloads of that type. I did not mean to do that. How can I change the default folder?

    Hi belladonna82,
You should take a look at the [[Downloads window]] and [[Options window - General panel]] Knowledge Base articles. They will give you all the details you need. Unless you are talking about the default action and not the actual download folder? If so, you should look at [[Options window - Applications panel]].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • When I opt to "download this as a file" from my email account, Firefox defaults to notepad to open the file. How can I change the default to MS Word?

    Question
When I opt to "download this as a file" from my email account, Firefox defaults to notepad to open the file. How can I change the default to MS Word?

Is FF downloading the file as a .txt file? If so, go to "Folder Options" in the windows control panel. Click on the "File Types" tab. Scroll down until you reach the TXT file extension. Look to see what that extension opens with (lower part of panel). It probably shows notepad. Click on the <Change> button. Scroll down until you find "Microsoft Word." Select it and click the <OK> button. That should show the TXT extension is now associated with Microsoft Word. Click the <Close> button at the bottom of the panel.
If FF is downloading the file as any other type, use the same process as above except look for the corresponding extension instead. If the extension is not listed click on the <New> button and create an association using the extension in the file name and then associate it with MS Word.

  • How do I set the number of simultaneous downloads?  Per server?

iTunes always tries to download 3 podcasts at once, which leads to timeouts on podcast servers that limit the number of connections. That means I'm either missing episodes or else I need to manually babysit iTunes.
Is there a way to set the number of simultaneous downloads? I'm using XP.
    Thanks.

You can turn simultaneous downloads off. In the downloads window, at the lower left. Also, while things are downloading, you can pause all but one or two.
