The automatic ID DaintyDaisy is talking about is when you go to your app store and it shows you as logged in under a certain Apple ID, and asks you for the password to log in. If this is not the correct Apple ID, then we (including me!!!) need to know where to go to re set it. I followed some other discussions and one link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5796 shows you how to sign out, but when the Apple ID is greyed out, it doesn't help!!! Typical Apple world... get tangled and suffer for endless hours trying to fix one problem... but there is a million more to fix (like getting the righ App to download pictures from one's iPhone).

Great question. The line access fees for the account are a set amount and can not be changed unless you are going from a basic to a smartphone or vice versa. You'll need to save the documents first from the incorrect iCloud account, sign out then sign in to the correct iCloud account and upload the documents to that account.

Thanks - I did not realize that Homesharing can be specifically set to a photo destination like that!
So, it would appear that I can either point it to iPhoto (and folders/ events within that) OR the default Pictures folder and subfolders of that OR any other specific folder (and subfolders of that) of my choice. However, I cannot select BOTH the default Pictures folder (and some subfolder of that) AND a folder in iPhoto AND/ OR an event/ folder in iPhoto. Is that a correct assumption?
If so, the only way I see getting homesharing to get both set of pictures is to get all my picture folders (internal and external drive based) into iPhoto (without physically duplicating them) - and then pointing Homesharing to iPhoto, right?

How can I delete an automatic update that won't download?

I've just intalleld OS X Mavericks only to find that the iMovie upgrade will not download because my vido card is not the right one (too old). I was told I cannot replace a video card.
What I really want to do is delete the upgrade from the App Store so the red number 1 is not forever in the way, bothering me. I found one solution which doesn't work because the upgrade will not even try to download, the 'can't do it' dialog comes up before I can press any option and x keys.
Can somebody please advise. As my Mac gets older, I figure this will be a growing problem and I can't be the only one who cannot afford a new compj\uter every couple of years.

Deleting the App Store app from the Dock is not really a solution though is it? This issue has nothing to do with whether you have auto-updates on or not either.
The problem is worse than just the red badge on the app's icon in the Dock, the problem is every time you go to the App Store Updates section to manually install updates -- to other apps, OS X, or whatever, that **** iMovie app is still sitting there waiting to be updated too. You can't really use the "Update All" button now because that will also try to update iMovie, again.
Surely there must be some way to remove the iMovie app from the Updates section of the App Store? I thought hiding/removing it from the Purchases section of the App Store would do that, but it doesn't. It looks like a bug in that the App Store doesn't realise the update is incompatible with the hardware until after you click the Update button. It should know up front that it isn't compatible with this machine and not show it.

I'm not sure what you mean by "normal".
When one presses the down arrow, one's eye follows the insert point down, one line at a time, because that is the location of interest. After it reaches the bottom of the page, pressing the down arrow causes the page to
jump ½ of a page
at which point, one's eye has to move back up that ½-of-a-page to get to the insertion point (which, yes, has moved only one line with respect to the logical text). That eye movement is disorienting and a time-waster as one searches for the insertion point.
Moving a full window (or a page when displaying one full document page in the window) at a time is warranted at times (e.g., when skimming) and should be enabled at user-discretion by a shortcut. But that is not for "normal" reading, i.e., when one is reading each line. Jumping ½-of-a-page never was and is not a normal way of reading. It should not be the only way to move through a file.

Thanks - that helped. But when I tried to sync all my photo folders to the I pad 2, I tunes would add some but not all of the ones that were marked to sync, end the sync, then the I pad 2 would hang with the wheel turning, saying it was still syncing photos, and it would not end and the remaining folders of photos never appeared. I finally had to sync and re-sync over and over by adding one folder of photos at a time, then another and another.
