How can I change the iCloud account associated with my iphone

I changed my e-mail address a few months ago including changing my Apple ID to reflect my new e-mail. For some reason, my iphone and my ipad are both stuck with the iCloud username of my old e-mail address. When I try to delete these accounts like other forums have indicated to do, it won't let me because every password possible comes up as invalid and the "forgot password" e-mail never comes. I was wondering if there was a way to delete the icloud account associated with my old e-mail without having a password and replacing it with the updated iCloud information.

if for some reason your old iCloud account does not accpte or you do not remember your password, you can try this:

  • How do i change the icloud account associated with my iphone and ipad when i forgot the password and no longer have access to the email account?

I have an iPhone 5c and an ipad 3.  using the latest version of iOS.  I can't delete the old iCloud account on the devices without putting in a password but I don't have it, nor a way to change it via email since the email acct is an old one.

If the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your devices, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

How can I change the iCloud ID associated with my iPad?

    To change the ID for:
iMessage, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID sign out, sign back in using the other ID.
FaceTime, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.
iTunes, do this in Settings>iTunes & App Store.
iCloud, start by saving your photo stream photos to your camera roll by opening your My Photo Stream album, tap Select, tap all the photos you want to save, tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), then tap Save to Camera Roll. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and provide the password when prompted, then sign back in with the ID you want to use.  This will delete the account and iCloud data from your phone but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing to a new account, your data will be synced back to your phone when you sign back in.  However, if you are setting up a new account with a new ID, when you delete the account be sure to choose Keep on My iPad, then choose Merge when you sign into the new account to upload your data.

When my iPhone updated, it reloaded an old email address as my iCloud address and I don't know the password associated with that email address.  How do I delete the old account and set up a new one with my new email?
To change the iCloud ID ("email address") you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Hello pscorning1,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of your question. If you have already changed the information associated with your current Apple ID (*not* created an entirely new Apple ID), you may find the following article about updating the various Apple ID services helpful:

  • HT3965 how do i change the iCloud account information on my iPhone?

How do i change the iCloud Account information for an iphone.  I set up my wifes iPhone and my phone with the same iCloud Account name name.  Later, i added another phone on my ATT account for my mother, but made an Apple iCloud Account in her name.  Now, to use the find my iphone feature, i need to change her iCloud account user name to be the same as mine.  How do I change that?

You dont need to change the iCloud account to use that feature, when you use find my iPhone all you would need to do is sign into her iCloud account to locate her iPhone.
If you want to change the account used on the iPhone for iCloud then go to settings>icloud and select the option at th bottom that says "delete account" then select "keep on my iphone". After that you then sign in with your iCloud account.

How can I can change the email address associated with my iCloud account without losing data on my iPad?

If you're running iOS 6, to change your iCloud ID go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account.  To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

  • I have some apps on my iPad that were installed using an old apple ID. They can't be updated because the old ID is no longer valid. How can I change the apple ID associated with these apps?

I installed some apps using an apple I'd that is no longer active. I can't update them because it asks for the password of the old I'd instead of the I'd I currently use. How can I change the apple I'd associated with these apps? I still want to use them. One app I paid for using the old I'd. The other app is free. I have already tried deleting them and reinstalling them.

If you simply just changed the email associated with that appleid you can just delete and Re-download the apps.
You can verify  the above step by going to the App Store on device > Updates>Purchased - if you see the app there just delete it from the home screen and redownload from the purchased section
Now if you got rid of that account entirely, you will have to delete and re-purchase on your new account

  • How can I change the ICloud account from my partner to me

My business partner set up an ICloud account for his iPhone on my PC to show me how great it was.  Now I can't change it to my account.  I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it but his account is still there.  Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • How can I change the iCloud account that my iPad backs up to? I now have two iPads. I want the older to go to a new account and the new one to sync to the original account.

iPad sync to the iCloud account

You have to create a new Apple ID for the new iPad. But you really don't want to do that because them you will have to purchase all of your content again because paid content is always tied to the Apple ID that was used to purchase it originally. You will not be able to download all of your previously purchased content for free.
You can backup multiple iDevices to one iCloud account, I backup my iPod and iPad to one iCloud account. You can always purchase more storage space if you need it. IMO - if you still have a computer - use iTunes. You are only limited by the capacity left on your hard drive when you backup. No need to keep paying for more iCloud storage - again, just my opinion.

  • How can I change the user ID associated with a Unix numerical ID?

I acquired a used MacMini.  I changed the home directory name and display name but when I use ls -l (in Terminal) I still see the former owner's Unix name.  Is there some way to edit the MacOSX equivalent of the old /etc/passwd so that the numerical used ID maps to my name?  I found a reference to OpenLDAP and Directory Services but nothing too helpful.
    TIA

This may not be the last thing you have to do, but....
System Preferences -> Users & Groups (or if an older system "Accounts").
Click on the Padlock in the lower left corner, enter you admin password.
    Control-Click on the desired account
Select "Advanced Options..." from the popup
Pay close attention to the warnings, as you can totally screw up your Mac.  In fact, do you have a full bootable clone backup (SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner)?  If not, stop now and go make one.
    Change the Account name field.
Change the Home Directory field to match your new home directory.
DO NOT MESS with UUID, and I would strongly suggest not changing your User ID, as all your files are currently owned by that User ID, and it is a pain to find and change the ownership of all your files.
I suggest you logout and login.  Then if things do not look right, reboot.  If you have cron jobs, chances are they will be tighed to the old name, and a who bunch of other things might have stuff tied to the old name, so this is one of those things that may go wrong after you change your username.
Again, this may not be the only thing you need to change.
