IF YOU FIND POSTS HELPFUL CLICK THE BIG ORANGE KUDOS BUTTON
You could use a CA-100 adapter. It has a USB type-A plug on one end and a 2mm charger port plug on the other. The downside is that you need 2 USB ports available if you want to transfer data and charge the phone at the same time: one for the CA-100 and one for the provided CA-101 data cable.
Alterntatively you could use a CA-126 charging/data cable, which is like a CA-100 and CA-101 in one cable. Type-A USB plug on one end and both a 2mm charging port connector and a microUSB plug on the other.

i updated my iphone to ios 6. now i can not charge my phone with any cable. it says charging do not support this accessory. what should i do now? can anyone help please!!!!!!!
I upgraded my iPhone 4 last evening to iOS 6, the upgrade completed and the device was usable. Then in the morning I went to the device to check E-mail, Voice Messages, Test Messages, etc... and the phone was dead. I tried plugging the device into a charger (for a couple of hours) - still dead. Plugged into computer with iTunes, device not recognized or discovered, and iPhone was still dead... Took the iPhone into an Apple Store and the Technician looked it over for any visible signs of defect/malfunction, then performed various tasks to breathe life into the phone - nothing... His suggestion, at this point, was to replace the phone. He speculated that the iOS upgrade possibly corrupted the iPhone's charging firmware, and that this device was now a BRICK. Keep in mind that the phone and it's charging abilities were perfectly fine prior to the iOS Upgrade. I hate to go through the replacement hassle and the cost ($159.00) when the iOS upgrade caused the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Charge my phone with USB cable
Hi DearsI have a Z3-compact phone. When I connect it to my copmuter with usb cable, it does not charge. Please help me, how can I solve this problem????
Hi Z3-sam,
Welcome to the community.
One thing to note, if you are using the device on say a work computer, there may be security restrictions that wont allow MTP mode to charge the handset.
You could try changing the device in to MSC mode and then seeing if the charge works.
Menu > Settings > Xperia Connectivity > USB Connectivity > USB Mode > MSC

How can I tether my Blackberry over USB cable (to sync info)? [SOLVED]
Firstly, I have to thank all of you for making this such a great community and excellent guide to getting almost anything working on Linux - this is what makes Archlinux the best distro IMHO. I have hardly ever needed to post anything here because the answers are almost always either in the wiki or the forums.
Lately though, I received a Blackberry 8310 and wanted to tether it to use its data plan here in Ecuador. After following http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Blu … GPRS_Howto using a small USB bluetooth adaptor, this has worked well and the connection stays up nicely, though very slow (to be expected). Blueman is a great program! Looking at improving my connection speeds (and reducing my latency), I am now trying to get the phone tethered via a USB cable to the phone, rather than over-the-air (Bluetooth).
The problem I am having is that I cannot establish which device exactly is the USB port connecting to? Before this phone, this worked fine on my Nokia E51 setting the modem to be /dev/ACM0. On Nokia, I would connect the phone, select PCSuite mode and 'sudo wvdial movistar' or my /etc/ppp/peers/movistar script would work fine. Blackberry however is a whole different kind of animal. I connect it with a standard USB cable, select 'no' to mass-storage-mode on the phone, and can see it in lsusb fine but the only device I seem to be able to use is /dev/tty2 but modem not initialising.
How can I be certain which device I am using? Will post some lsusb and dmesg.log out put when I get home to give you more info.
thanks for any guidance you can give me,

First, I connect the blackberry to the USB port and run 'lsusb':

Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

Maybe the blackberry required 'usb_modeswitch' - though I could not work out how to use this command
Any ideas out there? Is there a simple way for me to probe USB devices in use? As far as I can tell it IS /dev/tty2 but I need to confirm this.
Many thanks,

please please can some one tell me how do you charge ur ipad with ur laptop. it doesn't chage wen I put use the wire. only charges when I plug the socket in. Iv never used an ipad b4 so don't really know much. Hope some one knowz.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. How can I charge my chinese iTunes account with a 25 euro gift card I bought in Germany?
How can I charge my chinese iTunes account with a 25 euro gift card I bought in Germany? Thanks.
iTunes gift cards can only be used in the store in the country in which they are bought - so if you bought a German iTunes gift card then you will need a German iTunes account. If you haven't got a German iTunes account then do you know anybody with one who could give/sell it to ?

No USB 2 port in my G4, how can I charge and connect iPod 30GB?
I dont have a USB 2 port in my G4, how can I charge and connect my brand new iPod 30GB. My G4 only has USB 1 ports. The quick start guide says Can I buy an adapter or something? I'm running OS 10.4.4
You can use the USB 1.1 port to sync and charge your iPod. It will just be slower than USB 2.0.
As far as an adapter... what model computer do you have?
There are USB 2.0 adapters for many Macs... but not all of them. -
How can I lodge a complaint with Apple about quality of products?
I am about to purchase my fifth or sixth charger for my 13' macbook... of this last year and a half!! I am so unbelievably frustrated with the quality of my charger and the fact that these have to be replaced so often for products that, in just a few months, will stop working. How can I get in touch with Apple to file a complaint of this nature? None of the numbers listed on the contact website correspond with the nature of my complaint.
lehath9, I don't know if this is the issue you're referring to, but I, too, am terribly frustrated by the amount of money I've spent on genuine Apple chargers in the last 18-24 months.
I believe the quality of the chargers has declined significantly and have had to replace, several times over, the chargers that came with my 2nd generation iPad, my iPhone 4S and the latest iPod touch. The cables/wires are breaking and fraying.
I thought perhaps I was being too rough on my cables somehow the first couple times that it happened, but I know that's not the case now. For comparison, the cables that came with my first two iPod classics and my first Nano are fine. I also took an informal survey via Facebook to see if others have noticed the same issue and got about 20 affirmative responses, all of which stated the problems started with chargers sold in the last 18 months.
I've purchased four replacements in the last six months and the third of those 4 is now broken, exactly as the previous 2 replacements and exactly like the three before those. The rubber/plastic casing for the wires pulls away from the non-USB part of the charger (the end that goes into your ipad/iPhone/iPod). Once it pulls away the wires are no longer supported and they start to hang at an odd angle (no matter how careful you are plugging, unplugging and positioning the charger in the device) causing them to break and of course preventing a charge from reaching the device. -
I lost the original dock to my 2nd generation ipod shuffle, I have a new charger but it doesn't work. How can I charge it?
If by "charger," you mean the USB docking cable, you need the original cable (or a compatible third-party replacement cable). A cable that is for the current 4th gen (and 3rd gen) shuffle does not work with a 2nd gen shuffle, because the connector is different.
This is the Apple replacement part (for a 2nd gen shuffle)
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA694G/A/apple-ipod-shuffle-dock
There are third-party products that work, but make sure it is described as being for the 2nd gen shuffle. And I would avoid the ones that just seem too cheap, because there are likely to be quality issues. -
How can I charge Nano 4th Generation without a computer?
I don't have a laptop and when I travel I don't have access to a computer a lot of the time. How can I charge a Nano 4th Generation iPod using an electical outlet. Is there an accessory I need to buy or must I travel with my 3rd Generation iPod? HELP!!!!
Hello stormonyc,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Yes, if no USB ports are availabe you will have to purchase an Apple branded or third party wall charger for it.
Here is a third party one.
http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-PowerBlock-Charger-iPhone-Devices/dp/B000WKY2ZC
And here is what Apple offers.

Hope this helps.

I can't charge iPhone 3GS with computer or sync
I can't charge my iPhone with my computer, but the rest of my family can sync their iPods(two 2nd gens and one 4th gen) It works fine with the wall charger, so I know it's not the cord (Plus I've tried other cords). Also, I've tried switching the USB slot, using compressed air to see if it would clear out possible dust, trying a different computer, and many other tricks, plus completely restarting the iPhone. It wouldn't be a big deal if I could still sync it with the computer one last time so I could sync wirelessly from now on, but I can't.
Lastly, it is out of warranty and I did not purchase the iPhone so I don't even know if I could take it to the Apple Store to see if they could fix it.The links below have instructions for deleting photos.

How can I sync my calendar with outlook
This question has a couple parts to it.<br><br>First, I am self employed and use Outlook as my primary calendar. With my BB7 device this syncing issue was easy but I find it so hard with my new Z30.<br><br>My email is a rogers.com email. I have 2 email accounts on my device (personal and business which are both rogers.com emails.<br><br>How can I sync my calendar with outlook and allow changes made in both outlook or the device appear updated on both outlook and my device?<br><br>When I make a calendar entry in my phone it prompts me to use either my groups, my work email, my personal email and then I see BLINK with the name of my office computer.<br><br>What should I be using as my default calendar? The one that says BBlink-Computer name or my business email address?<br><br>Secondly is there a way to sync all my calendar entries with outlook to avoid personal and business conflicts? That is my BBM group calendar entries, personal email calendar entries and my business calendar entries?<br><br>I'm really baffled by all this. I keep being told I need to set up an outlook.com email address. Do I really need to do this? I prefer not to.<br><br>Essentially, how can I make all my calendar entries show on my office outlook calendar so I can see everything to avoid scheduling conflicts and not need to check my device before booking an appointment in my desktop outlook?<br><br>Lastly I have my outlook set to show me Canadian Holidays. How can I get these to appear in my device calendar?<br><br>Please...<br>This has been baffling me since I for my device about a month ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.<br><br>I have the latest link software on my PC and have the latest OS on my phone.<br><br>Thank you in advance to all that reply.<br><br>Regards,<br>Dan
I think (and I'll double check) only the BBLink events will sync on a wired USB sync. I'm fairly certain of that.
You'll need to use your calendar syncing via an EAS email account (outlook.com, for instance, is free) to sync wirelessly. It works great. I use it and was a former tied to the USB sync guy as well... and I thought I was gonna die a painful death without it. I found more freedom this way.
This explains the process. But I don't think you'll get BBM Groups to sync.

Can you charge an ipad with an iphone charger
can you charge an ipad with an iphone charger?
Yes, you will cause no damage... it will just take a lot longer...
iPad Charging
"The fastest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter.
iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter.
When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge, but only when it's in sleep mode.
Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain."
