How can I chop out the background of a graphic using the magic wand tool?

This was really easy using fireworks, can anyone please tell me how I can do this so I can get a transparent background.

If your computer is tied to a network, then there is a way to check. Go to System Preferences, and click Accounts. unlock Admin
then you can click Login Options.
under that, Network Account Server. This should show you what server your computer is tied to. If you aren't in the tech department, you could try asking them.

I've tried two images, the results were:
Image 1
Jpg, original file size 923KB, dimensions 848px x 279px.
After resizing to 848px x 180px with 72dpi, the file size decreased to 164KB.
Image 2
Jpg, original file size 809KB, dimensions 1200px x 1800px.
After resizing to 668px x 722px with 72dpi, the file size decreased to 307KB.
So, there seems to be a fair file size loss - is this to be expected?

How can i pull out data from a spreadsheet only from the current month?

Data is constantly being fed into a spreadsheet using a VI, this data comprises of such things as month, year, weights, std dev, etc. I want to do some data manipulation on the current months data while the VI is running, how can I pull out only the data relating to the current month? Each input into the spreadsheet stores the values for that run on one row, and there are perhaps 150 runs each month
Any thoughts are greatefully received

I think you have to have the files on your HD. So either put them in iPhoto or copy them to a folder in Finder, and from there you can upload to Facebook.

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500A printer and have taken a picture in the Panorama setting and want to print it out on a 4x6 but have it fill up the complete 4x6 paper, not just the center part of the paper. Hi if the picture is high res enough you can fill up the page without to much quality loss, should be a question of playing with the settings, you are however goin to lose a part of the picture or stretching the image. A better option might be purchasing some HP panorama paper.

There is some discussion in there of device "cloning"..though I don't see how they can do that and at least not technically violate the iTunes Store EULA....(1 license can be used by 1 person on multiple devices, or by many people on one device). As I understand it, and as Michael indicated, the only way to do what you want and not violate the EULA is to have 20 different Apple ID's...what the "cloner's" have chosen to do is use the Educational VPP www.apple.com/itunes/education
purchase sufficient licenses for all users, allocate a license to one Apple ID, clone that image to other iOS devices, and simply record the fact internally that the additional license(s) have been allocated to other Apple ID's....I work in healthcare, and our legal department isn't comfortable with that approach, and I can't see it really being legally viable in education....unless their are different terms for educational institutions....
