How can I clean out my ipod before I sell it?

I have a GEN 3 ipod nano that I want to clean out before I sell it. My question is : How can I rid the ipod of all the stuff that I have put into it?

Connect it to iTunes and Restore it as a new device.

  • How can I "clean out" my iCloud storage on my iPad?

Lately I have been getting messages saying that I con't have enough space in my iCloud storage to backup my iPad and lately my iPad has been acting up and going really slow, freezing, and closing out apps. How do I "clean out" my iCloud storage so that I will have enough room? I saw an option to delete the backup, but I don't want to do that because that deletes everything...right? And I need a lot of those apps backed up. What should I do?

  • How can I clean out the recently bookmarked entries without removing the bookmarks from the folder in the library?

When I click the star to bookmark a site it goes into the recently bookmarked area of the library. I then drag or cut or copy and past it into a folder I already have in the bookmark library, but it doesn't disappear from the recently bookmarked. If I delete it from the recent, it also gets deleted from the folder in the library.
What can I do to keep it in the folder but remove it from recently bookmarked?

No, currently there is not a way to do this.

  • How can a clean out the Visual Studio References dialog entries?

My reference dialog box is a mess, it has entries which I don't need any more. Some of the entries have duplicate names but differ by version. This means I have to carefully look at each reference to make sure I add the correct one. If I could simply right-click
on the reference and click on delete the world would be a better place. Since this cannot be done, how else could I remove these bad entries?
I am using VS2013 Community, this problem has driven be crazy in all versions since 2005.
I don't know why this question needs to be asked since the situation should have been obvious at (Visual Studio) development time.

    Thanks for jdweng’s help.
    Hi Anaristos,
    >> My reference dialog box is a mess. Some of the entries have duplicate names but differ by version.
To really help us understand this issue, could you share us a screen shot about the real “reference dialog” in your side?
    >>What I would like to do is to have no resent entries when I click to add a reference to a project unless the references on the list are relevant to my current work. I don't need references to past projects, especially if the entries have the same
name as a reference that I need now but are not either relevant or are the wrong version.
Do you mean that it is the Reference Manage like the following screen shot?
For example, you add a dll file(ClassLibrary1(C1)) as the reference in project A, you also have a project B which refer to another dll file which have the same name as ClassLibrary 1(C2), but not the same dll file. Now you create a new project C which will
refer to C2, but there are two dll files have the same name, so it is hard for you to select the dll file as the reference in project C.
Did I understand this issue correctly?
If not, please share us a simple sample, so we could understand it better.
But for the reference issue, if possible, I suggest you remove the references with the right click options like the following screen shot, and then re-add the dll files your projects refer to with “Browse” button.
Or you know that what the dll file’s path is, and then move the mouse on the references, I think you could get the folder or the dll file, and then add the correct references.
If I misunderstood this issue, please share us more detiled information, so jdweng and I will provide better answer for this issue.
    Sincerely,
    Jack

  • How can I clean out my Powerbook G4 now that I have sold it?

I have sold my G4, and want to leave no personal information behind. I have a Leopard disk, but when I insert it, it gets ejected.... Thanks, Bill

As you have posted in the PB 15" Aluminum forum (which models came with 10.3 or 10.4) we must assume that the Leopard disk you refer to came from elsewhere.
Also presumably you mean Leopard (10.5) and not Snow Leopard (10.6) which won't run on a PB G4.
Is it a retail copy of Leopard (for any compatible Mac) or a model specific version that came bundled with another Mac? If the latter that is likely to be causing the problem.
With an install disk that will run your PB you could use Disk Utility to zero the HD and then reinstall a new OS.

  • I have duplicative song files in my library that are grayed out.  This seems to cause a syncing problem to my ipod or iphone.  How can I clean up this mess?

I chose to let iTunes rearrange my files and it appears to have duplicated them in my computer's drive.  So now I have the same folders/files directly under my D drive (second computer hard drive) and also in the iTunes Music Folder that iTunes created.  Wasn't sure what to do so I did another import and now I have files in my library that are grayed out with the small i symbol in the circle next to them.  I also have the working (bolded) files too.  How can I clean this up?

Is there a way to override the 256kbps "conversion" when uploading to iCloud?
No. All music that is mirrored in the cloud will be AAC@256 Kbps.
    Musicman05 wrote:
Along the same lines, if I "download" a song from my library to my iPhone, then plug my iPhone into my computer and sync the song file from my computer, will the higher quality original file overwrite the 256 one?
No, because with iTunes Match enabled on an iOS device traditional syncing of music via USB is disabled. All music management is done directly on the device.
    Musicman05 wrote:
Also, if I want to syncronize another computer using iTunes match, how can I get the higher quality audio files?  Will I simply have to transport all of them by an exernal hard drive or thumb drive?
You will first have to copy the high-quality audio files to the computer, add them to the iTunes library then enable iTunes Match.

  • I have a new iPod Touch, so how can I deauthorise my "old" iPod Touch before giving it to my brother or husband?

I have a new iPod Touch, so how can I deauthorise my "old" iPod Touch, before giving it to my brother or husband?
    Thank you.

Are you just trying to deauthorize it from your iTunes account, or do you want to totally erase it?
Your iPod touch is not actually authorized to anything other than the computer you sync it with; it is not authorized with the iTunes store the way your computer is. Giving your iPod to someone else won't give them your store info. Once they plug it into their own iTunes, it will force them to erase the whole thing in order to sync it with their own computer.
If you want to wipe the thing clean before giving it to them, plug it into your computer and choose the option to Restore it. (Or on the device itself, to go Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.)

  • My Library has ten more songs than my iPod. How can I find out which songs are not syncing?

My Library has ten more songs than my iPod. How can I find out which songs are not syncing?
I recently had to purchase a new hard drive. Because the size of my music collection exceeds 140 GB, I stored all of my music on a separate external hard drive. When I exported everything back into my new iTunes library, I found that I had about 200 more songs than I had in the previous library. After deleting most of those extraneous songs, I was able to get my library close to where it was before. However, after syncing to my iPod Classic, I noticed that only 34,853 of the 34,863 loaded. How can I figure out which of those ten songs in my library did not sync to my iPod?
    Yellow12

It may be that the 10 songs are unchecked. To find them select songs view.
If there is a column Heading marked with a tick then click on it to sort by this column.
If the Column is not there then View > View Options and select the Checked column which will then display
Check the songs by putting ticks in the empty boxes and resynch. Now those tracks should go over as well

  • How can i clean up the "other" taking up space on my ipod touch?

How can i clean it up?

This is also where apps store their information on your ipod, along with emails.  If you have a lot of emails on your ipod or some have large attachments, cleaning this up can also reduce the file size.

  • How can you find out what generation your iPod touch is?

How can you find out what generation your iPod touch is?

    Hi,
Here is help for the operating system:
If you are locked to iOS 3 then you have an iPod Touch 1st Gen.
If you are locked to iOS 4 then you have an iPod Touch 2nd Gen.
If you are locked to iOS 5 then you have an iPod Touch 3rd Gen.
If you are locked to iOS 6 then you have an iPod Touch 4th Gen.
If you can get iOS 7 and have an iPhone 5 sized screen [bigger] you have the current iPod Touch 5th Gen.
I assume since it says you have iOS 5.1.1 you have an iPod Touch 3rd Gen.
Also, you may want to sync it so iTunes can tell you or you can look at the model number on the back.
    Hope this helped.
