How can I connect two Time Capsules with UTP

Hello,
I have one TC connected with UTP (WAN-port) on my modem to Internet on the second floor. I have a good WiFi-signal on the second floor.
I bought on new TC to get a better WiFi-signal on the first floor and also used for backup.
I like to connect TCold with TCnew with UTP to get a great network. I shoos UTP-connection in stead of WiFi, to get a faster performance from my network.
So I will use both WiFi-signals from both TC's, but de TC must be communicate with UTP, not with WiFi.
I think I connect UTP in my  LAN-port from TCold
Which ports do I use on the TCnew (WAN-port or LAN-ports)?
How do I configurate de software?
Sometimes I see not 2 but 4,5 or 6 TC's in my network???
When I disconnect UTP between the TC's the connection with WiFi is 450 Mbit/s.
When I connect UTP between the TC's the connection is 217 Mbbit/s????????????
Can somebody help me?

The main thing is that TCnew is in bridge mode..
Open the airport utility.. go to the TCnew and select it as bridge mode.
Then go to the wireless tab, and create a wireless network of the same name and security as the TCold.
You are probably in extend wireless now and that is wrong.
The apple doco is here.

What you want is called roaming network.

How do I connect my time capsule with a Lynksis wi fi netwotk?

You cannot extend or repeat a non-apple router in an apple router..
You must plug it in via ethernet and then setup roaming network (or if you like a completely separate network.. makes no difference from the TC point of view). TC is in bridge mode. That is router bridge not wireless bridge.. I gave the info on the other thread you are running.. very confusing when you ask in multiple threads.

Look at the more like this. On the right column next to the post.
Load airport utility for windows.. which will also load bonjour for windows.
In windows explorer type \\TCname or \\TCipaddress (replacing with the actual values.. names with spaces will give you trouble so change all names in the TC to SMB compatible or actual ip address).

  • Can i connect my time capsule with my router as a bridge ?

can i connect my time capsule with my router as a bridge ?

I am a bit lost .. did you work this out?? You are running a second thread.. and answered it with this question.
The TC can be bridged.. plug it into the main router by ethernet and run it in bridge mode.. that is router bridge.
    Do you mean wireless bridge??
If you mean wireless bridge the answer is maybe but unlikely.
If you setup the TC to join a wireless network.. it becomes a dumb client not a bridge.
So to get it to wireless bridge you need to use another apple router.. that is the only way to get them to work.
If you want specifics ask specific questions.

  • How can I use my time capsule with Ethernet cable? How is it also possible to use time capsule as a normal external hard drive?

My problem is that I don't know how to use my Time Capsule with Ethernet Cable, as when I use wireless it is really slow.

Make sure that there is an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on your modem/wireless router to the WAN port on the Time Capsule
Click on the Wireless tab at the top of the page
Change the setting for Wireless Mode to Off (I assume that you do not want the Time Capsule to provide a wireless network since you already have a wireless network)
Next, click the Internet icon at the top of the screen, then click the Internet Connection tab
    Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Click the Update button at the bottom and wait 30 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart and display a green light
Then, you must power off your entire network...all devices....in any order that you want
    Wait a minute
Start your modem/router first and let it run a minute
Start the Time Capsule and let it run a minute
Keep starting devices one at a time until everything is powered up
If you are using Time Machine for backups, you will need to reset the connection because you have changed the way in which the Time Capsule connects to your network
Open System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
    Open Time Machine
    Click Select Disk
Click the Time Capsule to highlight it
Click Use for Backup or, it might be Use Disk
Now you can connect your Mac using an Ethernet cable to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule to back up using Ethernet. Be sure to turn off the wireless on your Mac before you start the backup.
If you want to backup using wireless, disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Mac to the Time Capsule and turn on the wireless and connect to your wireless network. Your computer will now backup using wireless.

  • HT1178 i can't connect the time capsule with my mac using the aiport utility. i want to use the time capsule to make backup for my mac book pro. the time capsule is giving a flashed amber light. please advice me

the time capsule is giving flashed amber light and i cant connect it to my mac book pro. i want to use it with the time machine to make backup for my mac. please advice me.

To do the setup, plug it in via ethernet.. do not try to setup over wireless.. Once it is setup you can plug the TC into the network and use wireless.
Most likely you will use the TC in bridge to an existing modem router.. but we cannot help as you have no details of the network setup.
I do recommend in the setup of the TC you use SMB type names.. that means, short, no spaces pure alphanumeric.. as later Mac OS do have issues with long names, spaces and that apple shocker, the apostrophe.

  • Can't Connect to Time Capsule with VMware Fusion

I'm having problems connecting to my Time Capsule's hard drive with Windows through VMware Fusion. I have Windows installed with Boot Camp, and use Fusion to run my Boot Camp partition virtually. When booting natively(Boot Camp), Windows can connect to the Time Capsule hard drive without any problems. However, when using Fusion, I get the following error message when trying to connect to the Time Capsule hard drive:
+Unknown user, incorrect password, or login disabled. Please retype the login information or contact the disk's administrator(67)+
Any ideas as to what the problem is?

I had the exact same experience as you. I solved it by putting the Time Capsule into Bridge mode. On either Mac or Windows, open Airport Utility and click on Manual Setup. Then click on the "Internet" icon. Near the bottom of the tab you'll see "Connection Sharing". Click on the small arrow and select "Off(Bridge Mode).
After doing this, the Time Capsule showed up in my virtual XP machine's My Computer as a mounted volume. I have successfully backed up my XP machine running in Fusion 2.0.1 by directing Windows Live OneCare to this network location.

  • Can I (or How can I) chain two Time Capsules on one network for two Macs?

Currently we have one dual-band TC connected to our cable modem. Mac 1 backs up to it. I also have an original TC (one-band) that I would set to 5GHz dedicated for Mac 2.
Would this plan work and provide Backup and Internet to both machines?
    Cable Modem --->TC1--->TC2
Mac 1 would connect to TC1 for Time Machine function and Internet Access.
Mac 2 would connect to TC2 for Time Machine function and Internet Access.
    (---> = Ethernet cable)

No changes needed on TC1, but you may need to use AirPort Utility - Manual Setup to note a few of the settings on TC1, such as the exact type of security that it is using now since that information will be used to configure TC2.
Connect an ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on TC1 to the WAN port (circle icon) on TC2*. Open AirPort Utility - Manual Setup and TC2 should appear. If not, you'll need to "hard reset" TC2 by holding in the reset button until the amber light begins to blink more quickly, hold another few seconds when you see this and then release
Click the Time Capsule tab below the icons to name your device, assign a device password and set Time Zone settings
    Click the Wireless tab
Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Same name as TC1 network**
No check mark needed next to Allow this network to be extended unless you plan to add more wireless device to extend the network
    Radio Mode = 802.11n only 5 GHz
    Channel = Automatic
Wireless Security = Same setting as TC1
Wireless Password = Same password as TC1
    Confirm Password
    Click the Internet icon
    Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Update to save settings and let TC2 restart. Then power down the entire network. Power up the modem first, then TC1, then TC2, then each device one at a time. Allow a moment or two for each device to fully power up before you start the next.
*When the TC is in Bridge Mode, it really makes no difference which port you use to connect, as they all behave the same. I use the WAN port as a habit for connections like this so that I know at a glance where the connection is coming from. But, you could connect to one of the LAN ports on TC2 if you prefer.
**Assign a different name than TC1 if you want to log on separately to the network that TC2 provides
Be sure to setup Mac2 to backup to TC2 for Time Machine and you should be all set.

  • How can I view my time capsule pic with my iPad

How can I view my time capsule pic with my iPad

What do you mean by "time capsule pic"
Do you mean pictures stored on the TC?
The ipad has no ability to access files.. so you need a file app.. there are plenty of them available.. filebrowser is one. What application you use to view files will depend on the format of the files.. google for that.
The TC has no media server ability whatsoever.. it is a dumb as a board hard disk in a router. And should be treated as such.. especially to remember they die.. rather badly and suddenly.. and are difficult to backup should they do so.. it is design as a backup target for TM.. but TM cannot backup a TC or any other network drive.

  • How do I connect to Time Capsule from a Windows 8.1 machine which is on a Windows domain. I have been able to connect from a Windows 7 machine on a Windows domain to a Time Capsule. Airport utility is not displaying the Time Capsule Win8.1 machine

How do I connect to Time Capsule from a Windows 8.1 machine which is on a Windows domain. I have been able to connect from a Windows 7 machine on a Windows domain to a Time Capsule. Airport utility is not displaying the Time Capsule Win8.1 machine.
I have checked that the firmware has been updated to 7.6.4 . Similalrly the Win8.1 machine has been loaded with the update specified in another discussion.

Firstly how are you connecting to the TC.. wireless or ethernet?
Please open a command window and ping it.. ping by name and by IP address.
If ping succeeds at least by IP it should work.
    In windows explorer type
\\10.0.1.1 (or whatever the TC ip is.. that is the default).
Having the airport utility for windows loaded can help the process. As it loads bonjour for windows.
7.6.4 firmware on the TC is useless. It works better on 7.6.1
If the ping does not succeed by either name or IP address yet you have internet through the TC, then your network is setup wrongly. You are have firewalls blocking local IP. Take down all the firewalls.

  • Can't connect to time capsule after clean reinstall of Yosemite

    Hi
I was having performance issues with my MBP and it looked like a clean reinstall of Yosemite was the answer. I have performed the reinstall and re install my apps. I want to bring back my data from my time capsule but I can't connect.
When I tried in Migration Assistant it said there were problems connecting. If I use Finder, it is visible under the Shared heading but it says I can't connect.
How can I reconnect my time capsule so that I can bring back my data?
    Thanks in advance.

Reset the TC to factory.. redo the setup from Yosemite version Airport Utility.. no files are lost doing this.
    Factory reset universal
Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.
When you do the setup, give the TC short names with no spaces and pure alphanumeric characters.. same for passwords.. 8-20 characters.
Now in Finder mount the TC by IP address rather than by name.
Use Go, Connect to Server from top menu,
    SMB://10.0.1.1 for example.
It has to be static IP which is default in router mode but not so in bridge.
If you are bridged use the name or fix the IP.. dhcp reservation in the main router.
Type in like this for name.
SMB://TCname.local (replace with your new name and local is default domain .. it is important and helps).
Remember to save the password in the keychain when asked.
Good luck.. and if it fails clean install Mavericks or even Mountain Lion.. they work so much better.

  • I don't have a DSL or cable modem to access the Internet ... just a mobile WiFi (there is no cable available at our house). How do I connect my Time Capsule to the Internet via the mobile WiFi?

I don't have a DSL or cable modem to access the Internet ... just a mobile WiFi (there is no cable available at our house and the mobile WiFi is our only option). How do I connect my Time Capsule to the Internet via the mobile WiFi?

    LOL!!
I am in Australia and the ISP... I think both the main ones would fit your description to a T.. big T in particular.
Your router is really unsuitable.. if it is only wireless and no ethernet.. just buy an ethernet one.
Do a search on ebay.. 3g router.
But you can get the TC to join a wireless network.
It is a non-standard setup that Apple will not support.. the option is hidden.
If you are on Lion download the 5.6 utility. Go to the wireless set up page and hold down the option key whilst selecting wireless mode.. a new option, join will appear. You can then put in the ssid and passkey of the 3g router.
But please note the end result of this setup..
very slow speed. The TC is now a second wireless hop from your clients.. this will halve the speed.
In this mode the ethernet are deactived.. for reasons only Apple know, they decided you should not use ethernet when doing this.

  • Can I use two Time Capsules? one as an extension of my laptop (for music and video storage) and the other one to back up everything from the laptop and  Time Capsule (for music and videos)

Can I use two Time Capsules? one as an extension of my laptop (for music and video storage) and the other one to back up everything from the laptop and  Time Capsule (for music and videos)

Not via Time Machine.   It cannot back up from a network location.
The 3rd-party apps CarbonCopyCloner and ChronoSync may be workable alternatives.
EDIT:  And, if you're going to do that, you could back up from the Time Capsule to a USB drive connected to the TC's USB port.  Second TC not required.

  • Can i connect my time capsule to my hdtv for use as an extra display for my mac book pro?

I want to use my hdtv as a display wirelessly.  Can one connect their time capsule to the tv?

    1. Can my TC handle "dual band" wifi or not? As it's 3 years old, I'm not sure the spec is sufficient.
They have been dual band since gen2.. yours is gen4 or at worst gen3.
    2. Is the TC likely to provide better performance than the BT Home Hub router, as the Apple store suggest?
Impossible to say.. but easy to test.. simply plug the TC into the BT router in bridge mode and use it with setup to create a wireless network.. that is the way I would suggest anyway.
    3. Will the BT wifi extender still work if the TC is the main router? BT aren't sure, hence asking here.  "Trial and error" will take hours and because of the wifi issues in my house, can be frustrating.
Sorry this is out of my perview.. I can suggest it will be poor.. apple do not use standard settings for extend wireless.. and if it is universal repeater they also behave poorly.. Have you thought of using EOP adapters.. very popular in the UK and tend to work much better than wireless.
    4. Would the BT wifi extender communciate with the TC or the BT Home Hub router?
As suggested above.. leave the BT as the main router and plug the TC bridged into it.. you can then use both..
simply set the wireless names different and keep the channels apart.
    For 2.4ghz there are only 3 non-overlapping channels.. 1, 6, 11 or 13 as alternative in UK.
For 5ghz there are lots more but the lower channels work better.. so 36-48 depending on regs in the UK.
