How can I control the order of photos in a Ravel slideshow?

I'm using the web version.  After I uploaded my photos, I discovered that Ravel does not display them in alphanumeric file name order.  Instead it appears to order them by file date.  Unfortunately, I have always altered the file name to set up the order of my photos.  In the future, if I use PhotoShop to manually alter the date of the jpeg files, and then upload them, will Ravel "see" the altered date and change the order?  I've used up my upload limit, so I can't just try it and see.
On a slide note, I tried the method of sharing an album on PC as described in the Adobe FAQ, and it worked pretty well.  Two minor things I'd add:  (1) You have to first click the URL field before the copy, and (2) the URL includes two non-functional characters at the end (#!) that can be deleted from the e-mail.

Yes, as you noticed, the only option for Revel is to sort by date.  If you change the date that the photo was taken, it will indeed change the order.  This is something you can also do within the Revel app, though not currently with the web version you are using.

  • How can I control the order of playback on MuVu Mix (USB 2.

What determines the order of playback of music files stored on the MuVu Mix (USB 2.0)? How can I control the order?
Apparently it is not name order. The music titles are prefixed by sequential numbers. But that is not the order that the files play back.
I tried erasing all contents, then copying the files one by one to the MuVo Mix in the order that I want them to play back (name order). But that is not the order that the files play back.
By the way, in both case, I removed the ".dat" file first. (I also tried keeping the ".dat" file, to no avail.)

I did, and they confirmed (very quickly; kudos!) what you and I both expect: the play order is determined by the alphabetical order of the file names. The mistake was mine. I ass-u-me-d that the MSWin folder "Name ^" order was correct. I did not realize that it is not exactly alphabetical when the file name begins with a number (e.g, the track number). I had renumbered songs from a second CD by simply adding 00 to the track number. Thus, songs and 2 of the first CD are played after songs 08 and 09 of the second CD, as they should alphabetically, even though they appear in the order , 2, 08, 09 in the "Name ^" list. Klunk! Mea cupla!

  • How can I save the order of photos in albums? Even though I have set as album order they revert back

How can I save the order of photos in albums in Elements 11? Even though I have set as album order they revert back to original order.

Could you confirm that when you re-open the sorted album, the display order on the top bar just over the browsing space is still in 'album' order ? That order may have been changed to a date order. For me, I get the order of the last album I opened, not necessarily the 'album' order of the present album.

It may be best to recreate the folder and the smart playlists from scratch.

  • How can I control the order of iDVD menu items using the Arrow keys?

I have a submenu screen containing 10 selectable buttons plus the Return Arrow button.  I have ordered all the slideshows in the correct order in the DVD map.  However, when I run the program, the arrow keys jump the selection focus in an apparently random sequence.  How can I control the order of the selection focus?
    I'm using iDVD v 7.1.2
    TIA.

    Hi
There is one thing You might miss in iDVD - So do I - the ability to re-arrange in the DVD map (block diagram)
The order things will be pplayed or addrssed is same as the order each item is introduced into iDVD.
To my knowledge ther is no way around this.

  • In Photos, how can one control the order of pictures in an album?

Is there any way, in Photos, to control the order of pictures in an album? Is there any way to sort, or order things manually?

Thanks. Let me refine my question as follows: is there a way to keep the manual order in albums that I had in iPhoto when transferring to Photos?

  • How can I keep the order of photos in an album when I upload it to Flickr?

When I share an iPhoto album on Flickr, the order of the photos in my album is lost. Apparently Flickr uses the photo date, but that defeats all the manual arranging I have done in my album. How can I preseve the photo order on upload?
Also, the description of each uploaded photo appears in small print and not in the main Flickr label box. This means the description cannot be seen if a photo is viewed in full screen mode. How can I automatically transfer the iPhoto descriptions to the main Flickr label boxes?
Is there a better way to share iPhoto albums on the Web (Picasso)?

I'm glad you found a solution
For for others and you in the future it is important to understand
Albums are a way to VIEW photos in your desired order within iPhoto - the photos do not have any order (in fact they are in files scattered essentially randomly accross your hard drive)
When you move the out of iPhotoand view them in another program that program determines teh order they are viewed in
An easy to see an example is the finder - files exported from iPhoto and viewed via the finder can be viewed in many different sort orders including name, date created, date modified, size, kind and label - none of these have any relation to the order the photos were in the album UNLESS you cause that to happen (like by exporting using sequential file names so teh finder name sort matched the album order) - the order you see photos in is totally determined by the program you are using to view them - if you understand how it views them then you may be able to export them so that the destination program view martches the iPhoto view
To make suggestions to Apple re exporting to Flickr (or any other outsidside service) -  iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback - and to make suggestiont to thrid party suppliers like the Picasa export plugin contact the developer of that plugin

  • How can I change the order of photos in iPhoto so I can create the slide show I want?

How to change the order of photos in iPhoto on my iPad, so I can create the slide show I want.

Here's what I did to generate a slide show with Ken Burns effect on the iPad...with the exact same slide order I created on the iMac.  I have iOS 5.5 and iPhoto App on New iPad, and iPhoto 11 on iMac.
In iPhoto for the Mac, create a new Album and give it the name of your Slide Show. Drag or import the photos you want into the album.  Rearrange the order of the album photos as desired. Do this by selecting Manual Sort under View/Sort Photos or simply start dragging thumbnails to the places you want them (the sort method will automatically change to Manual).
When you have the order you want, shut down iPhoto on the Mac to make sure iPhoto's database gets updated with the new photos and their order.
Restart iPhoto and go to File/Export on the top menu.  Select File Export at the top left of the Export window. Set JPEG quality to Max, Size to Full Size, and File Name to Album Name and Number.  Set Subfolder Format to None.
Click Export to bring up what looks like the Finder.  Create an empty folder on your hard drive under Pictures and give it the name of your slide show. Click on the new folder and then click OK at the bottom right of the Finder-like window.  The new folder will contain JPEG files with file names in the form, Album Name - 001.jpeg, Album Name - 002.jpeg, etc.  There will also be an iPOD Photo Cache folder.  Click at the top of the Name column to order files by file name.  001 will be your first slide, 002 your second, etc.
Now start up iTunes. You are going to force the Mac to sync these new photos with the iPad.  Click on your iPad device in the list at the left.  Now click on the Photo button at top right. Make sure the Sync Photos check box at top is checked, then select Choose Folder... from the list at right.  In the Finder-like window that opens, select the folder where your slides are.  Make sure that All Folders is checked, then select Open at the bottom right.
Now click Sync at bottom right.  The slides will be copied to your iPad.  Both the Photos app and the iPhoto app will properly handle the slide order, and the Ken Burns effect is available using the iPhoto app.
I ran across this problem in preparing a Ken Burns slide show for a wedding.  Drove me nuts for a week why the order changes when syncing an iPhoto album from iMac to iPad.  But this worked and gave me several options.  I plan to use the digital AV adapter for iPad and show slides on a large screen TV using HDMI connection from iPad to TV.  TV essentially acts as an external monitor for the iPad.
    Hope this helps!

  • How can I change the order of photos within an event?

iPhoto o9 won't let me change the order of photos within a single event- really annoying! I tried to view photos then click manual sort- but when I look back at the event it is not in the right order. what's wrong? Or can I even do this?

Yes you can do that - IF you go through and assign titles to every photo
You also can change the date/time on photo and iPhoto will then sort them in the new order
And you could assign unique key words to each photo such that the sort order is what you want and sort by key word
But you can not change the order in the sense most people mean - grab a photo and move it to a new location in an event
    So yes you are right

  • HT201317 How can I control the order of the photos in a shared photo stream?

Every time I upload a new stream it defaults to organized by date. I loved Mobile Me. I miss it.

If you're adding the photos from iPhoto on your Mac put the photos in an album and arrnage them in the order you want. Use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Set: Date menu option to give all of the photos the same date but with a 1 minute interval.
Add them to the Photo Stream and they should remain in the order you want.

  • How can I change the order of photos in my fotostreams?

When selecting photos for a fotostream to share with friends the exported files appear in the order they were taken. If I add more pictures later, they are added at the end of the stream as if they were ne lastest taken pics.
    How can I change that?
Exporting all of them and then creating a new stream brings back the real order, but destroys all comments.

Aperature is the same with PS - PS is PS
Lightroom - has nothing to do with sharing photos in any way - it is a photo manager with no connection to any other Apple products
FLickr and integrated into iPhoto and are easy ways to share photos - SmugMug also is popular
    Google will bring you others

  • How can you control the order of video tracks?

I have an iDVD project with an intro movie (movie played when the disc is first inserted), 5 20 minutes videos (each of which is an individual iMovie project with chapter markers, but the videos are meant to be watched in order 1, 2, 3, 4, then 5), and an addition 5 minute video. When I created the disk image, I noticed it started encoding the last of the 20 minute videos and then seemed to encode the rest of the videos in random order.
I burned the disk image to DVD and started watching it in my DVD player. When you watch the first 20 minute video, when it finishes you return to the menu so you can choose the second 20 minute video. But, if you scene skip through a 20 minute video on the last scene, it takes you to the next track. The problem is the tracks are all in random order. So instead of scene skipping to the next 20 minute video, it takes me to the intro video, then to 20 minute video, ect. It's all out of order.
My question is does anyone know how to control track order? Is the track order the order in which the videos are encoded? (It seems to that is the case.) I tried inserting the videos into the iDVD project in the order I wanted them, but I don't know if that will work or not. The assets all appear in random order in the Project Info window.

I would like to know also. I have made many DVDs, but the number order does seem to be random. For presentation purposes I want to play a specific clip by hitting it's corresponding number on the DVD player remote when the DVD is at a complete stop (so if I put the movie clip in the 2 spot and hit the number 2 on the remote, then the 2 movie clip will play). I can get this to work from the menu by dropping them in iDVD in the order I want and waiting for each to encode before dropping the next, but at a complete stop I cannot ensure number 2 on the remote will play number 2 on the DVD. To me it looks like iDVD gives those numbers in the order in which the audio is encoded when burning, with the shorter clips first and longer ones last.
    Can anyone help me?

  • How Do I Control The Order of Photos Displayed by an Emitter

I have a Motion 4 particle emitter which is displaying a sequence of photographs and text (all transparent TIFs), which works exactly as required, except the customer has requested the photographs appear in a particular order. How can this be achieved?
I have tried changing the random seed to see if I could hit the sequence by chance, but no luck!

Great link Patrick, thanks for that! The solution as you suggested is animating the Source Start Frame, and the video make it clear. So the solution is as follows:
Set Random Start Frame and Play Frames off.
Animate the Source Start Frame by setting a keyframe at the start of the sequence with frame one, and then set a keyframe at the end with the number of the last image.
Result: Images which fall through space from the emitter and display in a known order. If the customer wants to change the order of the sequence, then rename the files and re attach to the emitter. Simples!

  • How can I change the order of photos in albums on my iPad

Hi everybody... When I place a folder with photos in it and sync it with iTunes on my iPad they are not in the order that I want to view them or play as a slideshow.  I've tried numbering the files in order, but that didn't work.  Is there away of doing this?

When syncing folders the photos are ordered by capture date - the only way to alter the order (apart from using iPhoto or Aperture on a Mac) is to amend the photo's capture dates : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4221
