    Click here for instructions; if you find that the movies have no sound, download MPEG Streamclip and use it for the conversion.

  • How do I convert a utube video to .flv to put in Flash

    I have to embed a utube video from the 1960's into a website for my client.  How do I do this.?  I c'ant  seem to access Adobe Media Encoder to convert to .fla.
    If I can convert t .fla I can make into a swf file using Flash cs5.

    Actually, some companies will not allow any content from YouTube to be played in their browsers, because they figure that, if you are watching YouTube videos, you're not working.
    In this case, the only decent solution is to host the video on your server. While Flash is a viable method, it will never play on mobile devices. Additionally, many modern browsers don't have the Flash plugin. So the right solution is to use HTML5 and host it yourself.
    Now, Nancy likes FlowPlayer: http://flowplayer.org/
    You need to purchase it in order to make it work for your website, but it will absolutely work with 100% of the browsers out there.
    The other (and free) way to deal with this is to transcode your video into:
    .M4V
    .OGG
    .WebM
    And to call whichever will work with the client browser. Additionally, you have to include the MIME types that your server may not understand (usually OGG Theora).
    Here is how to do HTML5 video in your web page:
    <video width="640" height="480" controls preload="metadata" poster="path-to/your-poster.jpg">
      <source src="path-to/your-movie.mp4" type='video/mp4; codecs="avc1.42E01E, H.264"'>
      <source src="path-to/your-movie.theora.ogv" type='video/ogg; codecs="theora, vorbis"'>
      <source src="path-to/your-movie.webm" type='video/webm; codecs="vp8, vorbis"'>
      </video>
    Now, please understand, this presupposes that the video is standard 640x480 video and not high-def or 16:9 widescreen. You would make the dimensions match what the video size really is. You can make the poster out of anything, a frame from the movie or something else entirely.
    Here is a link to a page that does what I am describing here:
    http://ghostsofnewengland.org/
    Go down to the bottom of the page and you'll see the video. Look at the sourcecode in your browser and see how it works.
    Now, with respect to MIME types. If you have a Linux/Apache server, you may need to edit your .htaccess file thusly:
    Download .htaccess, which should be in your root folder for your website (if not, create one) and add these lines:
    AddType audio/ogg .oga
    AddType video/ogg .ogv
    AddType application/ogg .ogg
    AddHandler application-ogg .ogg .ogv .oga
    If you are on a Windows Server, you may have to use your control panel to do this. Also, many Linux/Apache servers have a control panel option for adding MIME types.

  • HT3775 how can i convert an AVI video file to work on my iMac?

    I have just bought an imac and am trying to put my movies on to the mac from a microsoft machine. A lot of them are in AVI or MKV formats and I want to know if there is a converter I can download on my imac which will convert these files? Any help would be gratefully received.

    If you just want to move these avi and mkv files to play on iMac, you can download VLC player, it plays just every file format.

    For converting files to Mac readable format, I use this one all the time:

    It supports handling multiple files at a time. one of my cameras record in .AVI format and i bulk convert to .mp4 or h264.

  • How can you convert a large video file from the photo cache  of an iphone3g to a playable file on a pc?

    how does one transfer a large ( 1gb) video file from an iphone3g photo cache to a pc in a playable format?

    The same way you would import any photo/video from a digital camera. Connect the iPhone to the computer and import the file. Then it can be played with Quicktime or any software that supports that file format.

  • How can I convert a wmv video to a format that will import into itunes?

    I need to view a video on my new ipad. The file is wmv format and needs to be converted to a compatible format.

    No need to convert unless you want to play it in iTunes.  Play back with VLC media player - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ - general media player that plays just about anything.  If you absolutely must convert (and lose quality) use Handbrake.

  • How can I convert my animation into a working movie clip that can be used with a new scene?

    Hello all,
    First and foremost, I AM A TOTAL FLASH NOOB. I want to preface this and make it incredibly clear how new this all is to me. I LITERALLY started using flash this morning; that is precisely how new I am.
    With that being said I am going to do my best to explain what I'd like to do.
    I have created an animation of a spider moving its legs back and forth. I want to be able to combine all of the layers into 1 simple animation that can be imported into new flash scenes with the animation exactly how it stands. I have figured out how to convert the whole animation into a symbol AND I have figured out how to import the movie clip from the library. However, herein lies my problem. When I open a new flash scene and import my animation, I play it and it does nothing at all. It's just the static image of the spider I created with no movement.
    I've spent the last couple hours trying to figure out (and doing my own research) what I have done or didn't do to get to this point. I'd be willing to bet I am just going about the entire process incorrectly and I'm simple overlooking a basic facet of the program.
    Any insight to fix my ignorance is greatly appreciated.
    (P.S. Hell, I don't even know if I am using the correct terminology so for all I know I am confusing every person who has taken the time to look at my question. If I am using incorrect terminology please correct me to avoid future hang ups. Thank you.)

    Ned! This totally worked! Thank you! I knew there was a tiny piece of this whole thing that was preventing me from making everything work. Unfortunately as my luck would have it, although I have the movieclip working the spritesheet converter I'm using now no longer recognizes the movie clip. The converter says there are 7 frames in the animation, but doesn't display any working sprites. Just a blank sheet. Frustrating to say the least.
    I'm just going to throw everything out on the table here:
    This is the video tutorial i'm using to convert my animation into a spritesheet. I've done the steps exactly as directly up until the point I actually click "Begin Conversion." When begin conversion is selected, it shows the movieclip exists on the bottom left underneath "list of movieclips" but doesn't actually show any individual sprites.
    Here's the simple sprite converter I am using.
    The irony of this whole situation is that you have successfully helped me make a working movieclip (which was the important piece), but the converter no longer recognizes it. Whereas before, it would at least show the image on the 1 frame of animation it had.
    If you wanted to to take a stab at it and see if you can successfully get it to work I'd be appreciative. If not, I totally understand as you have already been incredibly helpful and have my eternal gratitude for getting me this far. These animation programs can be quite overwhelming when they so vastly differ from one another. Don't even get me started no Anime' Studio Pro.

  • I'm making an intentionally terrible montage. How can I convert a gif to a transparent .mov?

    I want to be able to insert gifs into my final cut videos. They have to loop, and be transparent.
    Is there a program that can convert them into transparent .movs or some other format recognized by Final Cut Pro?

    Quick Time Pro should be able to open the GIF and save as a Quicktime .mov file. Whether the looping will work I don't know and can't test it.myself.
    If you don't have QT Pro, it's a $30 license.

  • I can't convert a DVD video into my movie format?

    I can't used my Quick Time Software with all futures, I want to convert from the CDRoom a DVD video to movie format into my computer, would you help with a good solution.
    Thanks

    Are you referring to a commercial and hence copy-protected video DVD? If so, it's illegal in the US to attempt to break the copy protection, so we cannot help you with that question here.
    If that's not what you mean, please post back and explain further. Feel free to post in your native language if you're more comfortable that way. There are people here who speak other languages and can probably help you more quickly.
    Regards.

  • How can I convert a feature length HD 25fps .mov file to NTSC and preserve the exact duration?

    Hello all
    I seem to stumble over a small but significant timeline distortion: I'm trying to convert a full-length feature film file (1:52:07:01) from the source file, which is full HD at 25 fps to .m2v in NTSC for use on DVD. The picture quality is excellent, especially with highest quality settings, but even using Frame Controls, allowing Compressor to choose the ideal frame rate and setting the duration of the target file at 100.000% of the source file, the result has now repeatedly been 7 seconds shorter than the original. (Which, by my estimation, would in fact be about 0.1% out, so more than the tolerance thresold indicated.)
    Ordinarily, this might not be a big problem, if it weren't for the fact that the film is subtitled in three languages and this means that from about a third into the film now these subtitles in DVD Studio Pro appear progressively out of synch. (And anyone working with DSP will know how cumbersome shifting subtitle clips is...)
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Sebastian

    thanks again russ for your help with this - i've been able to solve the problem. i did try your approach, though for reasons which probably have nothing to do with anything, the export didn't complete and i ended up with a file that suddenly stopped, twenty minutes short of the ending.
    in the mean time, though, i rendered both picture and sound out at 100.1% of the source file duration (which is the relative length compressor calculated when i used frame controls to set the output file to precisely the absolute lenght of the source file) and this seems to have worked. i now have an NTSC formatted .m2v and an .ac3 file, which are in synch with each other and with the original time line and therefore with the subtitles.
    hope if anyone comes across a similar issue, this may be useful to know.
    many thanks & all best

  • How can't i import the videos to iMovie?, how can't i import the videos to iMovie?

    how can't i import the videos for i movie?

    Dear Mr. Chan-please tell us more about your hardware and what kind of movies you are trying to import into iMovie. as far as I know, iMovie only handles a few kinds of movies, mp4, m4v, mov and DV, and that's it. It will NOT convert every kind of movie out there to whatever. try something like handbrake, perian (with QuickTime) or MPEG streamclip to get the movie that you are maybe having trouble with into a more iMovie friendly format

  • I recored a video with my ipad, downloaded it to my mac but I cant upload it to Youtube because the format IMG is not a video format. How can I convert it?

    How can I convert a video I took with my ipad on the format IMG to a supported format for Youtube?

    To upload videos to YouTube we have to make sure videos are in a format that YouTube accepts. Here’s the list of some well-known video formats which YouTube supports:
    WebM files (Vp8 video codec and Vorbis Audio codec)
    MPEG4, 3GPP and MOV files – (typically supporting h264 and mpeg4 video codecs and AAC audio codec)
    AVI (Many cameras output this format – typically the video codec is MJPEG and audio is PCM)
    MPEGPS (Typically supporting MPEG2 video codec and MP2 audio)
    WMV)
    FLV (Adobe – FLV1 video codec, MP3 audio)
    But I think you get the wrong video file. iPad recorded video files are in m4v, mp4, mov, avi format but not the img files. Anyway, if you need a video converter, Format factory or iFunia video converter are good choice.
    Good luck!

    how can i convert video files from my mac to watch them on my iphone?, how can i convert video files to watch them on my iphone?

    Turns out the answer to that question changes if you ask it more than 4 times, so ask it again....
    The answer depends on the type of video files you want to convert.  If they are DRM protected commercial videos, no help can be given here.  Google.
