How can I convert a Word document to an ePub document?

I would like to convert a Word document of a book I've written to an ePub version that my son can load it into his iPad to read.  Anyone know if there's a way to do that on my Mac mini computer, or if there is a program I can download that will do it?

    Hello fruhulda.
Before writting that, I checked the openOffice Save dialog.
And one more time, michaelfromrochester write about what he isn't aware.
The fact that abiwork open Wordperfect documents doesn't prove that openoffice doesn't.
The link posted by Tom claims that it does.
    I repeat my request:
I wish to receive a sample file to check if the embedded importer really works.

  • How can I convert a word file into a pdf and then upload to a web site?

I need to convert a word document into a pdf and then upload it to a web site so people can read it from my
site. How can I do this? Can anyone please help? I'm only a newbie. Thanking you in anticipation.

    Hi there,
There's actually an easy streamlined way to do this using Acrobat.com. Here are the steps:
    1. Log in to Acrobat.com with your Adobe ID.
    2. On the left, you'll see a navigation menu that includes the item "Import and Edit". Click that.
    3. Choose the .doc (Word) file you want to convert and upload it to Buzzword.
    4. After making sure that it looks the way you want it to, go to the top menu (still in Buzzword now, not the organizer where all your files live) and click the document menu. There will be an option to "Export" - choose that.
    5. When prompted to select filetype, choose "Adobe PDF" and press OK.
    6. It'll save to your desktop, so now you have to get it into your acrobat.com organizer. To do that, close the Buzzword document by clicking the little "x" in the upper right corner, under the Sign Out button. This'll get you back to your organizer, where you can choose "Import" from the left nav menu again. This time choose your new PDF file.
    7. Select the  file icon in the organizer and click the Share button. Or, select Share  from the file context menu.
    8. Select Allow Anyone With A  Link To Share This Document to set the document to open access, and then  click Copy Embed Code. The necessary HTML code to embed the preview is  copied onto the clipboard.
    9. Open the HTML file and paste  the code into the file. The Flash previewer can display any file type  that you can convert to PDF.
Hope this helps! Good luck, and let us know how it works out.

  • How can I convert MS Word to PDF (w/ hyperlinks and bookmarks)?

    Hello,
I have a 1000+ page MS Word document that I'm trying to convert to PDF.
If in MS Word I select Adobe PDF > Convert to Adobe PDF my system hangs. (I've let it sit for over 2.5 hours with no progress.)
I can easily print to a .prn file and then distill the file to create a PDF. However, when I do this method, the PDF comes through with no hyperlinks and no bookmarks. Are there any conversation settings so that this method will create the hyperlinks/bookmarks?
Given the size of the PDF, hyperlinks/bookmarks are extremely important. Any other ideas/tips would be appreciated.
    thanks,
    Kara

Please itemize how I can convert a MS Word document into a PDF document.

  • How can I convert my Word files to Pages en masse?

I want store all my docs on iCloud, but they're Word files and I gather that iCloud accepts only Pages docs. Is there any way to convert all my files en masse rather than one-by-one?

  • How can I convert a pdf file containing a scanned document?

I tried (and paid for) Adobe ExportPdf. It did not work. I get a Word-Document containing huge images. Useless.

Hello and sorry for the long delay in answering.
I have tested several pdf files that only contain scanned images.
I always selected the correct language for text recognition.
The first I tried was a Spanish document with 13 pages, converting to *.doc. The original had 3162 kB, the newly created Word document has 11836 kB. It contains only images, every page in the PDF document is an image.
Then I did a German document with only one page, it was converted beautifully into a WORD-Document.
Same for a Spanish document with only one page, it was converted beautifully into a WORD-Document.
Then I tried a again Spanish document with 18 pages, converting to *.docx. I took about 10 minutes due to my slow Internet connection. The original has 3807kB, the converted file 6559 kB. The opened converted docx-file is almost empty.
Is it possible that multiple page documents do no work?
Would you like to have a look at these documents yourself?
Thank you and best regards, AlMarsad2013

  • How can I convert spoken words to text on my MacBook

I am a leader of a group that has a profoundly deaf person who is interested in joing with us.
The problem is that hearing aids don't work for him and neither does amplifyed sound with headphones.
He is quite good on a computer.
What I would like to find is software that will convert a discussion group into words that can be displayed on my MBP.  I have an ultra sensitive mic that I can use as well.
I have explored Dragon.  But that needs to be trained to a single voice so it would not be useful in a group discussion.
Does any one have a suggestion or solution for me?
    Dunc
I have a MacBook Pro, iPad Mini and an iPad Air as well as an iPhone 5s so you know the tools I have available

This may be a roundabout solution, but if you speak into the iPhone, you should be able to copy-paste the text recognized into any application that utilizes icloud, then access the pasted text from another device.

How can I convert my Open Source document files into Word document files? I cannot download Pages since my Macbook Air does not have the most recent software. I downloaded open office to my mac to try and save money. It worked well for a while. Now I get this pop-up message that asks me to "Reopen" and when I select the option, nothing happens. I cannot save my documents anymore and I cannot convert them to word. Help!

Does OpenOffice output Word documents by default or do you have to select it manually?
You have 17 options to save as in Open Office, one of which is .doc  files,  yes it needs to be saved manually.
You may be able to default to DOC, but have not tried same.
Since Open Office is 99% same as Word, I use it, or Word, either one.  Open Office is a bit less buggy than Word 11'

You can use Microsoft Word's inbuilt feature of converting the doc to pdf by simply selecting Save As> 'pdf doc format' from the drop down.
