How can I convert m4p's or ACC files to MP3s so I can make a mp3 Disk?

Trying to make a mp3 disk for my Bose Wave system with all my jazz tunes, figured it would be nice to have all the music on one disk instead of multiples. However, the files I have are not mp3 format. How can I make my Jazz playlist songs mp3 format so I can burn it to disk? I have a 20" imac G5 with the latest itunes.

If they are Protected AAC's purchased from the iTunes Music Store it is against the Apple Licence to convert them, if you want help ask elsewhere. if they are AAC's imported onto your Mac using iTunes instead, then you can convert them using iTunes by going to preferences and the advanced tab, then choose the importing sub-tab and change the format to MP3 Encoder, then simply select the songs in your Jazz playlist you want to convert and Ctrl Click of them and choose the convert to MP3 option, you will then have MP3's you can put on an MP3 CD. - The only problem is the quality may be noticably worse. As you say you have a Bose Wave System which sounds quite good this may be a problem for you...
The better solution (though unfortunately more expensive ) would be to buy an iPod of some sort and connect that up to the Bose Wave system, I know nothing about your stereo but you can buy an cable which plugs into the top of your ipod for less than £5 ($8-9) to connect up to your stereo either through the phono ports at the back or if it has a special MP3 player input you could connect the iPod up at the front. The iPod would also be able to play any protected AAC's you had downloaded from iTunes too.

Apple do not have their "own" format. You need to convert your DVDs to H.264 though.

In quicktime, I would try File -> Export -> Audio. It will create an audio file. Then drop it onto your playlist into iTunes. Burn the list from itunes with File -> Burn to disk and then select Audio CD.
If you have Quicktime 7 it should be easier and export to AIFF directly

And even if you could, it wouldn't be worth it. Raw files are 12-bit (or more) with much higher dymanic range than jpegs. The result is that (in the original raw file) you have flexibility to change white balance, change tone curve, recover detail from highlights and shadows in ways you can't with 8-bit (usually lossy-compressed) data in jpegs. But having thrown that extra information away to create a jpeg, you can't get it back. It would technically be possible to convert that jpeg data into raw format, but you would gain nothing by doing so and end up with a file much larger than the jpeg. In fact if this theoretical conversion went the whole way to re-create a Bayer sensor array of data, you'd be throwing away resolution.

in a Batch, I know it can be done for Mac users but how can I do it
using my windows xp or vista? Need help asap. If anyone from Adobe
reads these will there be something done so that we may do this
without the headache of exporting? Simply because you can't batch
export in FH as far as I know. If you can, will anyone clue me in
on how to do it.

Best I can tell, there never was a script of any kind
developed for
Windows batch processing of FH files.
See if you can find someone with a Mac that can do it for
you. FH files
are FH files, even if you don't have the fonts on the Mac
they will open
and save referencing the Windows fonts and when you get it
back on a
Windows machine it will be looking for the same fonts.

While waiting for the replacement laptop to arrive, I put my old (Vostro) hard drive into a case so I could access the files. Thank you Frederic, however when I click on "open with", 3 sidebars (?) open in this order ..Safari (default); Textedit; Other. If I click on "other", another window opens with "recommended applications" highlighted. Preview is not one of the chosen applications. However if I click on "all applications", Preview is then highlighted, but it only has an "open" window and I don't get an opportunity to File>Save as PDF.

How do i convert a Logic 4.7 file into a Logic 7.2?

I've recorded an album with my old G4 using Logic Pro 4.7 and a Korg 1212 audio interface a few years back.
Now i've loaded it into my MacBook Pro using Logic Pro 7.2 and the MOTU Traveler. it opens the arrangement but obviously all plugins aren't working because i used the Korg 1212 interface before. Once i change to CoreAudio, all the plugins on that channel strip disappear. I realized that Logic uses AU now but how can i convert the 4.7 songs with the VST plugins into 7.2 songs?
Would it make sense to open the 4.7 songs with Logic 5.5, then save again and re-open it with 7.2?

You would have to have EVERY VST plugin available also as an AU plugin.And it still probably would not work,because logic is SO different than what it was in version 4.The code for most of it has been optimized for g5 and Intel processors,which weren't around in version 4.That alone will change it too much to just open it up straight away.
I would open the old version,if possible,on the old logic version,and then render each MIDI into audio,and get the settings for each plugin.Tons o' work,but if you really MUST do this,to me,it's the only way to ensure it plays back the same as before.
Personally,I like to render each track after a final mix into it's own track,with FX included except for reverbs/delays,as an additional copy of the song.Afterwards,I can playback these copies,all at 0dB on their respective faders,and get a very close facsimile of the mix.I just have to add the reverb and delay effects,and I'm there.
