How can I convert MiniDV tapes to DVD? I've use a Canon GL 2 and an iMac about 1 year old. I'm trying to use iMovie and I've installed the latest drivers.

MiniDV was a great format, one I still use often. I also still use iMovie HD6 to process it and, for all the iterations of iMovie that followed it, I still believe it was one of Apple's greatest movie software programmes, next to Final Cut Pro, using a timeline method of editing. That was also in the day which Apple put Superdrives into their computers, so that you could not only make your movie in iMovie, but you could render it to iDVD and then burn the DVD. Now you need to buy an external burner.
Since iMovie HD6 and iDVD 6 were "universal" software, it has continued to work through the many OS releases since it came out with Tiger, I believe it was. So, it may still work with Mavericks too and, if you could locate a copy of iLife 06, probably used, you might enjoy the difference that HD6 has over all iMovie releases since then.
Not saying you can't process your MiniDV with current iMovie versions, but I'm not the one to speak about that.

Hold down the option key while starting iTunes and make an new library. Will it open then? If so, you have a bad library. With the new library import the library.xml version of the file in your iTunes folder. This will make it 90% like before (some metadata are not identical, but I don't know which ones).

After installing the latest drivers for X-fi xtrememusic, 2.8.003 I have no sound. Also my creative console is stuck in Entertainment Mode, it won't switch to any other mode. Help please?

Well, i don't have a solution for you, but if your soundcard + hub act like that even under xp after a few weeks i would suggest to get a replacement, cause there might be a hardware-error that causes your problem. A software/driver problem sounds very unlikely to me. I am running Photoshop CC 2014 on Windows 8.1 with an AMD quad core processor and AMD E1-2100 APU with AMD Radeon HD 8210 Graphics Card. I have installed the latest driver version 13.152.0.0. When I activate puppet warp, the mesh appears over the image and I can place the first pin. However, when I go to add the second pin, Photoshop crashes. I have tried with on a new, blank file, with just a few lines on it, but, as soon as I place the first pin, the image disappears, and then, as soon as I click anywhere else in the image, Photoshop crashes. I have followed all the online advice about settings under the Preferences/Performance interface, but nothing fixes the problem. Can anyone please help?

If you are using the new slimline iMacs, you will need to use a USB audio interface box that includes stereo inputs to connect the tape deck to.
Google's your friend.
Do a search for USB audio interface boxes.
For audio cables, you may need to use RCA style cables with RCA to 1/4" line level in audio adapter connectors OR 1/4" line level audio cable with 1/4" to RCA audio adapter connectors. This depends on whether the USB audio input interface box has stereo inputs that are for either 1/4 " line level connections or for RCA line level connections OR the USB interface box may have both style of audio inputs.
I use a FireWire (instead of USB) audio interface box (with lots of different types of audio inputs and output) made by m-audio and both the free, open source digital audio application called Audacity OR for more serious audio work, I, typically, use Apple Logic Express for most of my.own audio work.
Audacity works great for many types of audio recording and processing.

There is no way to intelligently answer your question (re: performance). Since you are running what is unsupported software (by Apple), I would seriously consider upating to the latest software.

Here's what I have: An iBook G4 with iTunes, an iMic with Final Vinyl, a cassette tape recorder (crappy, Radio Shack), and the cassette tapes. What am I missing? And if I am not missing anything, what do I do? I am lost! Help!

I'll tell you the way I converted tapes to .mp3's - it may work for you.
Simply go to radioshack and buy an audio cable with two male ends. Plug one in the output of the tape player - and the other in the microphone jack of your computer. Then find a program you like that records audio (I use Amadeus II but I believe Garageband will do the same). Just press play on your tape player and the record button in the software and let it go. Just make sure the audio levels are right before recording the whole thing.

I wanted to download and install the latest drivers for an HP Desket 895Cse inkjet printer but the only driver updates that are available on your website are for an HP Deskjet 895Cxi. I've never owned an HP Deskjet 895Cxi inkjet printer; only the HP Deskjet 895Cse inkjet printer. Do these two models use the same set of drivers or does your website no longer offer updated drivers for an HP Deskjet 895Cse inkjet printer?
I'm planning to address various sized envelopes for Christmas cards which I have done in the past using my older model HP Deskjet 895Cse inkjet printer because my current HP printer; an HP C5280 Photosmart All In One inkjet printer will not allow me to print on odd sized greeting card envelopes; only standard sized business envelopes like a No. 10, No. 11 and a No. 12.

Why doesn't the website list the latest drivers for an 895Cse? Was the Deskjet 895Cse inkjet printer released for sale to the public before the Deskjet 895Cxi inkjet printer or visa versa? Basically what's the difference between the 2 models? Finally if I were to install my new cartridges which haven't arrived yet and choose not to install the drivers for the 895Cxi model will my 895Cse printer still work and be able to print?

I have a fairly new 27" iMac running Mac OS10.6.7, I'm trying to print to an Epson Stylus Pro 3800 via an in-house wireless network. I have installed the latest Epson drivers.

I have a fairly new iMac running OS 10.6.7. Im trying to print to an Epson Stylus Pro 3800 via an in-house wireless internet. I have installed the latest drivers. It was working a couple of months ago. My wife is on the same network using a MacBook Pro and the same OS and is having no problem.

I have been using an Epson 3800 with my I Mac for four years and up untill I upgraded to OSX Lion the only problem I had was colour issues associated with some ICC profiles. After upgrading to Lion and downloading the latest OSX update (10th May) I could not print.
One of the problms was that the print settings continuously defaulted to:
Page Setup: Sheet Feeder
Media Type: Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster
I would change the settings to what I wanted, I saved them selected Print. My printer promptly started changing from Matte ink (what I had set my print setting s for) to Photo Black.
After trying all i could to correct this. I finally gave up and rang the Epson Helpline. After 3 telephone calls over a day and a half during which I was talked through the procedure you described, the problems were still not resolved.
My contact on the Epson Helpline then tried to simulate the problem on his MAC. He discovered that he had the same problem the print settings would not save, albeit on a Epson 3880 driver. He then advised me that the problem was not with thw Epson Drivers it was a MAC/Apple problem.
I then rang the Apple Helpline (at £1.35 a minute) described the problem and was eventually put through to a supervisor. Who asked me to send her a set of screen shots describing the problem, This I have done, I have received an acknowledgement of receipt and have been advised that I should get a response within two working days.
I am waiting hopefully.
I have tried to print both via CS5 and Aperture the problem is the same in both instances.

The first question is: how to get video into your Mac?
My answer is: use a DV camcorder as a translator. Most Canons and Sonys do this. Here are some general steps:
1. connect the video and audio outputs of your VCR to the input jacks of the camcorder. (If the video is on an S-video jack instead of the conventional yellow phono jack, it will be a little bit better quality.)
2. Using your camcorder's menu, set it to "AV IN->DV OUT". This will vary according to the model of your DVCAM. One hint: all camcorders have a 3-position camera/off/play(vcr) switch. In this application, most of them use the PLAY position.
3. Connect the DV out of the camcorder to a firewire port on the Mac. This requires the cable that comes with the camera...it's a mini-firewire on one end, and a regular firewire 400 on the other. (If your Mac has only a FW 800 jack, you may need another adapter.)
4. Turn on the DVCAM. Usually, iMovie will automatically open and be ready to record...if not, start it.
5. Hit PLAY on the VHS machine. You should see the video in the iMovie window. When you see what you want to save, press iMovie's button to start recording. You're free to edit the movie in any way you want.
When you have enough for a DVD, save it and use iDVD to burn a disc.
Alternatively, if you want to save a step, you can skip the iMovie step and just open up iDVD and select the feature...I forget the exact name...but it's like "Quick Movie" that will just save it as one stream.
