How can I convert video in a WMA format to play in QuickTime Pro?

I have installed my QuickTime Pro, but cannot play any of my videos that I already have stored on my computer. They are all in the WMA format. Is there anyway I can convert these files to play in Quicktime Pro? I also cannot figure out how to download a video from my digital video camera into QuickTime Pro. Can you help me with this? Additionally, I cannot figure out how to download from my digital camera into QuickTime Pro. All of these functions I would like to do, are so I can take these videos & pictures and download them to my IPOD. HELP - thanks Mike Mirsch

I have Mac OS X and I have Quicktime 7.1 Pro.
I know that you can record a movie by making a new movie recording. Use the fire-wire connection to do this and have you camera in playback or deck mode. This is probably not the best way to import video to your pc. I say this because it might not be a lossless ingest of video (depending on your quicktime preferences>recording settings.
Try saving your dv video onto your pc using a program like premier (i use iMovie and Final Cut Express).

Just import into a logic session. Then bounce at the specs you require. Logic or Waveburner, iTunes and even Quicktime I think can each do this easily.
A question though. I am assuming you are converting an MP3 to 44.1/16 bit just so you can play the file in a consumer quality CD player?? IF so - that makes sense.
But if you are doing this because you think it will improve the sound quality of your MP3, I will save you some time here. It won't improve the sound quality at all. It will just turn the MP3 into a larger audio file.
44.1/16 bit resolution enables you to have a much better sounding file than MP3 formats, but not by going at it this way.
No offense to you if you know all of this already. I am assuming that you may not know this - because if you did you would also likely know how to convert an audio file.

try using iPhoto, if you don't have iPhoto then you can use image capture. If you can't find image capture type it into the finder.

You'll have to use the destype DELIMITEDDATA to render your Report in CSV format. Then set the mime type to Excel. I don't know the exact syntax, so please do a search in metalink for "reports excel" for examples and more info.

Hey guys, I got a question. Our school had recently got a program to submit game film, called Huddle. Well it uses a better camera on a iPad Mini. However, I still want a hard copy of the game on the DVD before I submit it into Huddle. What my question is can I take a Lightening Adapter, and then plug a 30 pin adapter to video cords to stream video off the iPad into the DVD burner for basketball games? Or is there a more easier way to do this that I am unaware of...I am just curious since I am pretty tech shabby, and I just wanted to run it by you guys to see if it would work the way I want it to. Both the AVI and the MOV file extensions refer to the file container and not the compressed data the file contains. Both are generic file containers in that each may contain any valid combination of audio and/or video data that is compatible with the codec component configuration of the system on which the file was created. On the other hand, whether a file is playback compatible, conversion compatible, and/or edit compatible depends on the data actually contained in the file container. So, you are basically dealing with two separate issues here—the container and what is inside it.
Basically, if you want to make your files ediit compatible with iMovie, you must change your file container to one that is acceptable to iMovie and convert the data to edit compatible audio and/or video compression formats as may be necessary. The best approach is to determine what codecs were actually used to create the original AVI files and add them to your system if possible. In most cases a codec package like Perian can be added to your system's codec component configuration to may the AVI file playable. Once they are playable, in the QT 7 app then they can be chnged or converted to file types and compression formats that can be edited in iMovie. (While Perian handles most codecs commonly used to create AVI files, it does not handle all possibilities and, while the Perian codec package still works under cureent Mac OS versions, its development group has decided to drop further development/support of the package.)
Background: AVI is a file container originally developed by Microsoft back in 1992 but for which official support was discontinued about 11 years. Despite its limitations, Windows users still tend to use this file based on its open source ease of use and generic nature, thus, making its use so popular that most users are unwilling to switch to more modern but less generic file types. Since some AVI legacy compression formats have never been transcoded for the Mac or use beyond OS 9 or OS X PPC platforms, it is often important to know what specific compression formats are contained in the AVI file to know which codecs to add to your system and which not to add in order to avoid possible codec conflicts.
You can use many different converters to convert AVI files to iMovie edit compatible files. Most third-party apps contain their own buit-in codecs which do not relay on the Mac codec component configuration. Free ones, like HandBrake, usually have limited conversion capabilities while those that have more varied outputs are usually commercial in nature and will cost you additional cash. QT 7 Pro or the free MPEG Streamclip app allow you to access you own system's component configuration and use any available codec component like DV, AIC, MPEG-4, H.264, Photo JPEG, etc.—all of which are iMovie compatible for editing purposes—but only after making the AVI file QT 7 player compatible.
In order to determine what compression formats wewre used in your AVI files you can
1) Try checking the Finder "Info" window,
2) Use the "Inspector", "Media Info", or "Properties" window of any player app that will open the file, or
3) Use a general media utility app like "MediaInfo" to read the file characteristics.

Because I faced the same issue today and although the Nokia Multimedia Converter was last updated in the year 2003, it did the trick for me. Instead of giving the setup.exe your Nokia Account, go back one step, and use this to ‘register’ that product.
In that converter, as audio, select AMR Wideband (WB AMR) which creates .awb files. Those have a sampling rate of 16 000 Hz which is great for HD-Voice like audio books. Actually for voice-only media, I went for a bit-rate of just 12.2 kbps, still great as explained by Wikipedia. With that bit-rate only go for standard AMR if your phone does not support the wideband variant, because there is not difference in size.

But I think you get the wrong video file. iPad recorded video files are in m4v, mp4, mov, avi format but not the img files. Anyway, if you need a video converter, Format factory or iFunia video converter are good choice.
