How can I copy song metadata?

Hiya Folks!
I'm "upgrading" my iTunes library......i.e. -- I'm re-ripping my CD collection at a higher bit rate. (My bad for not paying attention to the settings before reading it all in the first time!)
Anywho, the problem is that all the corrections/modifications I've made in my library to the Gracenote metadata that iTunes uses gets obliterated when I re-read the CD. If I turn off the "retrieve CD track names from the Internet" feature,, the majority of the metadata remains intact but my songs get renamed to "Track 01, Track 02, etc.".......yuck.
Any ideas?

I have iTunes 12.0.1 on my Windows PC. I'm about to get a new iMac (hooray!) and I'm beginning the process of transferring everything on my PC to my Mac. I've got all the documents, pictures, files, etc. covered, but now I have to make a copy of all of my music.
Most of the music in my iTunes library is not bought through the iTunes Store (I download most of my songs from the Internet). Then, after saving the downloaded song to my computer, I go into iTunes on my computer and add the song. I also add metadata like artist, album, genre, album artwork, etc. to the song in iTunes. What concerns me is that only the songs in iTunes have this metadata: the original downloaded files I saved onto my computer don't have any metadata.
I really don't want to have to go through the long and tedious process of adding artist/album names, genre, etc. to every single song in my iTunes library on my new iMac. How can I copy songs with metadata (added in iTunes) from my PC to my new iMac?

Hello! I'd like to learn more about Home Sharing. To do this, would both my PC (which I hope to get rid of) and my new iMac need to be plugged in?
Also, after Home Sharing with the old PC is initiated, I understand that all my songs would appear on my iMac. Is there a way to copy all of these (with album artwork, name, artist, etc.) directly to the iMac's hard drive and then disconnect home sharing so I can get rid of my PC?

How can i copy songs from another library to my itunes library with homesharing? I see the other libraries, but cannot drag the songs into my library. The help window says to use the "show menu" at the bottom, but I don't have that menu with itunes 11.

You can do this in 2 ways.
1) You can enable the sidebar and you can drag and drop like you used to be able to. To turn on Sidebar in iTunes 11, go to View > Show Sidebar
2) Another way is to connect to your Home Share from the drop-down menu from the left (where it says Music) and select your Home Share. Once you are connected to your Home Share, select Music and you should see a button that says "All Items" and on the right, you should see the Import button. To copy, select the songs you want to import and then click on Import.

You can't copy directly from one iPod to another, you have to copy the songs back to iTunes and update the new iPod from there. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. No, you should not have to purchase everything again. The whole point of what Apple is doing now with iTunes Match and iCloud is "purchase only once, use on all your devices."
As far as moving between machines, I have often done what sig described there, across my network instead of with a flash drive. Just copy the contents of the iTunes folder to the exact same location on the second computer. I have even copied between iTunes folders on a PC and Mac.
The Error Code (-3150) is something probably completely unrelated to iTunes, like a network error. You must troubleshoot that separately. Instead of panicking, when you get an error you should Google it. I found this note:

It sounds like the error code is related to a problem with your network. Are you running any Internet filtering software like ad blockers or virus protection? I have seen those screw up iTunes access to the iTunes store before.

If the music is on the same computer, import the songs to your iTunes library by dragging them into iTunes or choosing File > Add to Library (Mac) or File > Add File to Library or Add Folder to Library (Windows). To maintain the metadata you'll need to use one of the third party tools that does this kind of migration. Metalogix has a product with a free trial that we have used before. (Don't remember whether the free version maintains metadata or not).
