How can I create a background within a border leaving space at top of the page but fill to bottom?

This is simply a skecth to hand a client but I can't get the bordered fill to fill the screen to the bottom. The Contact and Address are in the footer.
Watched the "Defining a Background" video but it refers to the "Browser Fill" button and there is none on my version - v.5
How is this accomplished?

Hi Dennis,
If I understand you correctly you are trying to have a footer block that is the width of the browser and with an image fill?
If so,
1: Draw out your rectangle (Keep it selected)
2: Use the fill tool in the toolbar above (Yes, you do have on in V5)
3: Once you have your rectangle filled grab the left and right edges of the rectangle and drag them to the edge of the canvas until a red line appears. This will make the rectangle full width.

How can I create this background

Hi All,
I like the serene look of the background of the following demo, but do not know how to create it. I tried changing the background of the slide within inspector to a gradient, but I can only get a TWO color gradient, either going from dark to light or vice versa. What I like about this background is that it starts, from top to bottom, as white then grey, then white again. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

The "QuickTime Guide" button created on the previous page was a plain gradient to show users how to "pick up" colors on buttons they see in order to copy the gradient. The one on the page linked above is a grey rectangle with a white gradient that fades to none as you describe. The pills at the top of that page were also created with usage of "- to none" gradients laid on top of the original graphic.

even includes a .key file that has a "white to none" gradient set up that users can drop in front of any texture or color for a nice metallic/gradient effect.

When opening a file saved on an older firefox i get repeated openings across the top of the page, but the file never opens.can i fix this?

when you open certain firefox saved pages, i believe the firefox i upgraded from, will not really open in firefox it just keeps opening tabs across the top of the page until you closed firefox.

It seems that the tool to create an hyperlink on a pdf file is removed from the toolbar!

In order to initiate printing by clicking a button, the button has to have either an "execute menu item" type action or use the "print" JavaScript method. As you guessed, the former won't work since there are no menu items to execute, and the latter can only work if the particular PDF viewer you're using supports it. I'm not aware of any that do on iOS.
The button doesn't appear because you're probably opening it in the default PDF viewer, which doesn't support forms at all. If you were to open the form in Adobe Reader, you'd see the button but it wouldn't work.

No, you can't create a video dvd with just PSE, and PSE 9 is no different from any other version where this is concerned. (Adobe wants you to use Premiere Elements.) However, if you have a DVD burner, you must have gotten some kind of software with it that can make a DVD for you. Create your slideshow, output as WMV and then use your other software to burn the actual video disc.

I know how to make it, just very much copies of the object, place them n the right way and tadaa.
But is it possible without that much work? Like a preset or After effects/photoshop etc.

PDF is media. It is not a web document. Your end users must have plug-ins and helper apps installed on their device to see PDFs in browsers. Depending on their settings, the PDF file may or may not launch in the browser window. On my system, PDF files download and launch inside Acrobat Professional; not my browser.
The safest approach is to provide a screenshot on your page with a direct link to the PDF file so people can handle it as they wish. See example: http://www.adobe.com/manufacturing/3dpdfsamples/3dsolutions/

CSA MC 6 - How can I create an SSL Certificate that points to a name other than the hostname?

I have just installed CSA MC 6.0.2. My company has a bunch of customer's that are on different domains. We are all linked through VPN tunnels and would like to have all the agents point to a specific URL for updates rather than the hostname of the machine.
FQDN: testserver.abc123.internal
URL: thisserver.abc123.com
We already have everything setup so that the clients can reach thisserver.abc123.com but I need to create a certificate with this name without changing the server's hostname. We also don't wnat update their host files. Any ideas?
If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it as we're looking to start upgrading the agents on all servers ASAP.

What about putting the CSAMC in your DMZ and allowing those ports through your firewall?
The nice thing is it allows hosts to communicate with the MC no matter where they are.
You'd have to open up 80 to the MC for software updates but we haven't had any problems in 6 years with that setup.

Is there anyway of using GREP (or some other magical wizardry) to create a paragraph style that automatically removes all spaces and forces words into lower case?

so doing it through InDesign is a work around I'm exploring.
Excel has the 'LOWER' function and the ability to record macros for a quick find/replace on the spaces - so that's definitely a good option if it can't be solved purely in InDesign.
You can change case via scripting in InDesign. This AppleScript (OSX only) will set the case of the selected paragraph style to lower. It would be possible to add some code that would strip spaces as well:

How can I create a account, mainly for webmail, if I recently bought a Mac Mini but never situated it and am on vacation now without a Apple computer ?

I read ICloud has a program you can download to be able to use it for messages on a Windows machine but it still requires that you already established an account on an Apple device with Operating System 5 on higher and I prefer an option without installing anything to have easy access when going to a cyber or internet cafe. The ME site refers you to ICloud but that fails to help me.
My Mac Mini is basically new with a one year warranty with free support ( ??? ) and maybe I can call a technical support center but international calls could be costly from here so this is my last resort.
A Apple store is nowhere to be found in this country so I hope to gain as much advice as possible from here.

The Icloud instructions for a Microsoft machine still require you to initialize the account on a Macintosh prior to being able to use it on other electronics.

Thanks, Gary. I should have mentioned that the previous slide moved and scaled several groups of objects. So, at the end of the slide's activity the groups of objects were in different positions and were of different sizes than they are when I return to the slide. So if I copy the opbject sn paste them onto the next slide, I still need to get them to the right place, and scale them. That's tricky, especially since text objects don't scale like graphic objects. Kind of a weird question; I know. I'm new to both the Adobe Developer forums, and to XMP in general.

The subcategories are unique to their categories; just as the categories are unique to their groups. In an effort to prevent garbage coming into the metadata, and because these groups, categories, and subcategories have already been defined, I'd like them displayed as dropdown menus; Once the user has selected a group for the file, the Category dropdown would appear (or become active) and display the Category choices available only to that group, and then do the same in terms of the Subcategory.
I'm guessing that I'll start with a closed choice, assign the values to the groups, and then write a function to display only the choices for that group in the category dropdown. Trouble is, I don't have a whole lot of JavaScript experience -- and the word I've seen tossed around in this area seems to be an Array -- so I'm wondering if I'm barking up the wrong tree. If anyone has some kind of direction to point me in, it'd be helpful.
I'm not looking for someone to do my work for me (that's missing the point) -- this is an exercise in learning XML, Some scripting, Flash Builder, and Javascript, and I'd really like to develop it entirely myself; because I am having fun!!

It might have been a reasonable approach to this sort of thing ten years ago, but it's not a very good way of doing this sort of thing these days.
This sort of thing is pretty easy to knock together with some HTML, JQuery to do some JS stuff and a CFC behind the scenes.
Indeed just using some binds to <cfselect> tags would be a better approach.

This page is enough for a recent graduated student but not for a senior candidate (that has more experience). Yes, by using JavaScript to create a new page by spawning a template page. The downside is that is will only work with Reader 11 (and Acrobat) and not previous versions of Reader. It also won't work if you need to Reader-enable the document so that pre-11 versions of Reader can save the filled-in form. If these limitations are not a problem and you need more help, post again.
