How can I create a BIOS recovery USB?

*Updated* I tried another flash using HP download & Install assistant and things went a lot smoother. I am ok
My mouse and computer froze while flashing latest BIOS f.29 and had no option but to cut power. On startup I either get a black screen or the HP logo is very messed up with different colours. The "windows is starting" screen is the same, all glitched out with purple and green. But after a couple tries and letting the PC sit for a few minutes I got through and into windows
I don't know if I should try flashing again from windows, but I would like to know the easiest way to create a BIOS recovery from a formated fat32 USB...
This question was solved.

Should mention I no longer have HP_Tools pertition on my drive as the hard drive was replaced a couple years ago and was formatted with a fresh windows 7 install

  • How can I create a new recovery key if you automatically removed my trusted device after update do iOS 8?

How can I create a new recovery key if you automatically removed my trusted device after update do iOS 8?

    Hey -
I need to do the EXACT same thing, but have no idea how. Has anyone out there done this?
My situation is a tad different..this is a new Mac (and I'm a brand new Mac user). Tons of querks occur under my original account (videos won't run, Safari won't support certain plug-ins). I spent 6 hours on the phone w/ 4 different Apple Reps and nobody could fix it. A rep finally looked at my MacBook Pro in person today. He created a new account just to see if that would work and under that new account, everything works perfectly fine (no querks, can view video). He tried switching a million settings in my original account to no avail.
He said to create a new account (as he did) and move my files over to the new account and then go back to the original and delete it. How do you do this?! I can't figure it out! I've got a new account created, but of course it just has the default folders in it w/ the little red icons next to them! Thanks in advance!

  • How can I create a Lion recovery disk when the original machine is down?

Any rapid help with this would be very appreciated - I have university work I need to complete tomorrow.
Machine is a 13" MacBook Pro with Bootcamp and windows 7 installed but the problem is on the Mac partition
    sequence of events:-
I was using MS Word for Mac when it crashed as being unable to write to the disk.
I went to utilities and ran a verify permissions - failures were found - one marked as not repairable
I ran repair permissions - it repaired all but one
I ran verify disk - it said it there was an error which could not be repaired - reformat the drive a restore from backup
I have full time machine backup so thought no problem
I shut down the machine and restarted using  Cmd R and went to disk utilities - no "format disk" option.
Browse on internet finds I have to delete the "Macintosh HD"  partition - re- create it and restore - ok
Find I cannot delete the partition because it cannot unmount the drive - because I have booted from the recovery partition which is on that drive - catch 22
Try to boot from original Snow Leopard disk - LION wont let you do it
Read some more on Internet and find I can boot from the Lion Revovery HD on a USB
Only way of getting it is to download it or create it using the machine I want to recover - but that machine won't boot in OS X ?...
Tried the Lion Internet install but it simply fails with an " error occurred please try again.
So can anyone tell me how I can get a recovery USB written in order to externally boot my Mac and recover it ??
    I have available:-
    Wifi
    USB drives
Time machine backup on external USB drive
    IPad
    windows available on the MacBook
Any help please - I am really desperate
    thanks

If you need to reinstall from scratch:
Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • How can I create a non-EFI USB installation media

    Hi fellows,
I usually create a non-EFI installation CD  via this procedure
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Un … ical_Media
But now my optical drive is broken, so I need to create an USB non-EFI installation media.
    How can I do ???

    Hello nTia89,
I'm in a similar situation to yours. I have an ancient MacBook Pro (1,1) with a broken optical drive, and any attempts to get EFI boot working with Linux have resulted in no graphics.
My solution has been to first install Mac OS X via USB, then install Refind. After that, Refind will recognise Arch USB media during boot and you can install.
I'm only booting Linux, so my solution has been to use MBR on the hard drive. That forces the machine to use the BIOS compatability mode.
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!

  • How to create a system recovery USB drive?

My U845-S406 crashes every 15 minutes with a BSOD referencing iastor.sys.
Multiple diagnostics say it is all good.
Multiple virus softwares say it is clean.
It crashes even quicker in safe mode.
I have the latest Toshiba raid drivers, but updated to a more recent Intel set.  The error changes to iastora.sys, and goes back to iastor.sys when I switch back to the Toshiba drivers.
I booted holding down 0, and told it to restore; but it promptly crashes.
I made a W7 disk and tried to load it, but it promptly crashes.
As a last resort before throwing the computer out,  I want to create a system recovery USB drive, format the harddrive and try recovering from the USB; but I don't have the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator (or any Toshiba software at all...)  I downloaded a copy and ran it, but it says I don't have a HDD Recovery Area.
I know I have one because 1) I can access it by hold down 0, and 2)Partition Wizard showes it.
So, how can I create a system recover USB drive (or make Recovery Media Creator find the HDD recovery Area...)
Interestingly, the other day it spent 90 minutes installing a W7 update without a problem, but crashed immediately when done.  Maybe that means something.

    Satellite U845-S406
    Downloads here.
Please zip up a few of the corresponding *.dmp files from the C:\Windows\Minidump folder and attach them to your reply.
So the procedure in the section Creating recovery media (p. 53 in the User's Guide) doesn't work? Exactly where does it go wrong?

  • Dv6748us how to make a bios recovery usb

how to make a  bios recovery usb?

    Hi!
You can download new BIOS versions on the Toshiba website. Search for your model and select BIOS update
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
Download the right file and follow these instructions:
Extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a temporary folder.
Make sure that all open files are saved and all applications are closed.
Execute the extracted *.exe file in the temporary folder. Follow the instructions on the screen.
The BIOS update will be done automatically.
After a few minutes the Notebook will restart automatically.
    Bye

How can i create a new usb connection (service)  on my iMac for sharing internet from my iPhone5 ( i seem have to deleted it )
i know its not a problem whit my carrier o data plan or sharing preferences on the ipone because when i use it un my laptop it works perfectly through
the usb and even works on the Imac through wifi and bluethood tethering but NOT through usb!!.
the problem is that trying to make it work i deleted the "profile" usb iphone on the network prefereces panel. Now i only have 3 options: ethernet / wifi / bluetooth
but not the usb iPhone i used to have.
And when i try to add a new one i dont get a USB option.

The question would be more appropriate in the Mac forums as it is not really related to the iPhone.

  • How can I create a new folder in an external disk that is connected via USB to my Mac?

How can I create a new folder in an external disk that is connected via USB to my Mac?

Just like you would create a new folder anywhere. Open the drive's icon from your desktop or the Finder, and click shift-command-N. (Or use the Finder menu if you prefer - File - New Folder).
If you can't create a folder, your drive may be the wrong format (you can't write to a Windows/NTFS formatted drive, for example). You'll have to back up any files you have on there, and then use Disk Utility to reformat it to Mac Extended (if it will only be used on a Mac) or MS-DOS format (if you want to share it with a PC).

  • How can i create a Trash for external USB Drives ?

    Hello,
how can i create a Trash for external USB Drives or my TimeCapsule ?
    Thanks.

You do not need to create trash cans for individual drives.  The trash can on the desktop holds deleted files from all mounted drives.
TimeCapsule manages its own space.  If it fills up it will delete older backps to make space for newer ones.

You might also be able to reinstall Lion without a flash drive, by booting up the computer holding the Command + R keys, and choosing Reinstall OS X.
