HI tasclix, it depends what you mean by an OS X boot drive.
If you want a recovery disk from which you can reinstall (by re-downloading) or recover from a time machine backup, then nbar is correct.
If, however, you want to boot and run the OS X installer from the USB drive (so that you don't need to download again), then you will need a copy of "Install OS X Mavericks.app"; see this article:

Before downloading again, search your system to see if the installer is still there - it's usually in the /Applications folder unless it has been deleted, but check your whole system for it anyway, you never know, you might still have it somewhere.

You might also be able to reinstall Lion without a flash drive, by booting up the computer holding the Command + R keys, and choosing Reinstall OS X.

Try calling 1-800-676-2775. Give the serial number and thy *may* still burn you new install disks designed just for the hrdware in your system (for a fee, something like $160 per disk). *May* is only because they may not burn disks for Leopard anymore.
If they do not burn them for you, you can buy Leopard disks off Amazon or eBay for about $200.
Have you considered Snow Leopard?. Those disks only cost $19 (single user) or $29 (5-user license) through Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE.

you have not mentioned where do u want the " I " information button ,
1. If u want for a report , u can get the information button on selection-screen only .
if u goto se38 on the mail screen u will find a radio button for documentaion ,
when u select it and click 'create' or 'change' , an editor will open and u can document anything there ....

I am confused by the installation step that requires you to create a bootable USB drive for windows installation. What is the ISO image and why has it selected my Passport backup drive as the destination disc?

In the bootcamp installation it asks me to create a bootable USB drive for Windows Installation. To do so, I must choose an ISO image. What is that? When I click "choose" I don't understand the options presented. Is this the destination of the partition or where Windows will reside on the Mac? Why does it also indicate the the destination disk si my WD Passport Back up drive?

OK, so I have an apple superdrive hooked up to my mini (along with my Passport back up drive). I also have the discs for both 64bit and 32bit Windows along with the product key. I am still not sure what to do when faced with the options after "choose".

I've installed Lion OS. Then downloaded Lion SERVER.
Creating a bootable USB for the ordinary OS was simple enough (stop install, show contents,restore partition etc). However, with Lion Server, install package does not appear in applications and there does not seem to be any obvious was way to stop the installation before the install package self destructs. Download from app store shows in Launchpad. Icon then changes to 'installing'. Install process is very quick and it won't stop

If you have a Mac mini Server with Lion server pre-installed you can do this fairly easily using the method outlined here http://www.hotblack.co.nz/article.lsd?i=lionserver
But I have a stock iMac with Lion pre-installed and got the Lion Server on top. I too have been looking at this "problem". Even after you've installed Lion Server and try the method they suggest you do not get a Lion Server InstallESD.dmg file.
My solution is this:
Using your existing Lion Server, copy "Install Mac OS X Lion" to your applications folder. Then when you use the installer with a BLANK volume as your target you will see an Options button on the bottom left side of the Installer pane. Clicking this allows you to install Server components. Your target can be a 16GB USB stick. Interestingly when this stick reboots you actually get the Server Assistant up which can configure your server.
So essentially you have a Lion Server USB stick - again don't forget to add "Install Mac OS X Lion" to the Applications folder.
You can also snag the Server components for copying onto target volumes by shutting down before the install reboot.

Hi. I have a PXI 8174 controller and I know it's not supposed to run RT because it doesn't have a floppy drive. However I know that 8171 controllers can be set up to boot from an USB flash device.
My question is, how can I make an RT-boot flash device? In MAX it seems easy to build a RT-boot floppy drive, but I don't have a floppy drive by now. I tryed inserting my USB flash device and changing its letter to "A:", but MAX doesn't seem to recognize it as a floppy.
An alternative could be to boot from an USB CDROM, but the same problem arises: how to build the RT-boot CD.
I really need this controller to run LV-RT.

I have done some tests and yes, the controller supports booting from USB device.
The problem is how to make the flash disk RT-bootable. I've come to create a RT-boot floppy, copy the contents to the USB device and transfer the boot sector from the floppy to the USB device, but it didn't work out. I even edited the boot sector but nothing.
In this point I gave out because I spent too much time, but I think that there's still a little hope of making it work.
Now I wander if I plug an USB floppy drive (I suppose it exists) and boot from a floppy disk would work. But I really don't know.
Any comments appreciated.
