How can I create and organize a symbol to be integrated into Illustrator's stock symbols?

Hello,
I am trying to create a series of symbols for maps (north arrows, scale bars, etc.) and then save them in Illustrator's "stock" symbol libraries - such as "maps". The goal is that whenever I create a new Illustrator file, I can immediately grab these newly created symbols without having to open another file and copy the desired linework from the other file (just trying to be more organized and efficient).
I am at a loss. I understand how to pull them into my drawing and break the link to modify. I also have gone as far as to make a custom symbol and drag it into the "Symbols" dialog box - but it wont let me drag it into the "Maps" Dialog box. And even if I dragged a symbol into the dialog box - is it automatically saved? There are no instructions regarding how to save symbols the user creates.

There are some LabVIEW shipping examples for File I/O
You could use the LabVIEW NI Example Finder (Help --> Find Examples..(search item "file")) to get an overview about the different file-formats in LabVIEW.

How can I create and export a file in 1024x768? Is the size supported in FCPX?

I'm trying to create a video to export and upload on YouTube, and we want to do it at 1024x768. FCPX does not support this file size. Ideally how can I
1) Create a canvas size in 1024x768 (or the same aspect ratio)
2) Export my video at 1024x768 (here it has to be the exact dimensions).
I feel so dippy, this seems like it should be obvious but I can't figure it out! Closest I've gotten is 2048x1556. Thanks for any help!

The technique explained in the Creative Cow tutorial works perfectly. I use it all the time for the odd aspect ratios we work in for video walls. It does feel odd working in FCPX without creating a Project (Compound Clips are stored in Events) but hapily you have all the editing capabilities in a Compound Clip timeline as you do in a Project timeline.
It would be nice if FCPX allowed us to enter custom sizes for Projects like one can in FCP7. But FCPX with this technique actually handles odd aspect ratios better than 7 did. I used to run color shifts and transition problems doing this in 7.
I once called Apple tech support about the problems in 7 and they told me that although you can enter custom resoulutions in FCP7, Apple doesn't support anything other than standard resolutions. I guess they clarified that position with FCPX.
Come on Apple (and YouTube and Vimeo.) Not everyone lives in a 16x9 world. My daughter, as do most teens, shoots all video at 9x16. Surely that resolution will soon have to be supported.

I wrote a similar code:
TagEditor extends HTML
, and inner class:
ExtendedTag extends Tag
by following similar structure with javax.swing.text.html
I added my own tags into tagList in HTMLUtilities class which is in com.hexidec.ekit.component. Because it is initialized three times when i run the program.
I add a button to multitoolbar, and wrote a insertMyTag method in class EkitCore:

What do I need to do in insertMyTag to turn off the strange display of
unknown tags? Is there an easier way to do this?

Carriers such as ATT provide parental controls on outgoing calls, texts, and internet use.
These can be set for specific times of day, and are working well for me.
I would like to prevent my step-daughter from texting during school hours. I can set
limits on SMS and MMS through the carrier. However, the recent advent of iMessage
allows her to get around the restriction with anyone that has iOS5.0.
I can disable the iMessage feature on her iphone using "settings" but there appears to be no way under
the iPhone's parental controls to prevent her from changing "settings". Besides which, disabling the feature entirely seems
needlessly crude.
My options at this point seem to be taking the phone away, or replacing it with a dumb phone.
Rather than offering addional impetus to buy Apple, the iMessage feature is driving me away,

I was searching for an answer to this problem as well. I use ATT SmartLimits to restrict my kids' text messages by time of day, etc. Also, I want to know WHO they are texting, so I usually review the phone numbers of all text messages on our bill. Since iMessage bypasses the ATT text message system, SmartLimits do not apply, and I don't see the detail of the texts on our bill. So the only real answer here is to disable iMessage completely. I have been very frustrated trying to find a solution to this problem over the past few days and was about to resort to downgrading to an older iOS version or even switching to different phones, when I stumbled just across a perfect solution.
Though you can't restrict iMessage, you CAN restrict FaceTime. And it appears that FaceTime and iMessage you the same communication mechansim, because when you restrict FaceTime, iMessages suddenly disappear! Voila - problem solved. Just enable restrictions on your childrens' phone, then disable FaceTime. All future messages will be sent and received as text messages, which can be controlled with SmartLimits and monitored on their bill.
Of course the downside is iMessages are free and text messages are not, but I'll gladly pay $30/month for the unlimited family text plan to get the addded controls.

How can I create an iPhoto Library from photos on an external drive?

Here's my issue:
I have a MacBook Pro running OS X Mavericks, and I am just about out of hard drive space.
I also have about 20 GB worth of photos on an external drive. The photos are not organized at all, just got dumped into a folder there during a hasty backup a couple years ago.
I'd like to use iPhoto to get these photos organized, but don't have the space to import them into the library on my laptop.
How can I create and manage an iPhoto library with these photos while keeping them on the external drive? They are on a terabyte drive, so I have a feeling I'd like to make that my main library moving forward.

Check that the drive's formatted as Mac OS Extended, drag the iPhoto library to it, launch iPhoto with the Option key held down, and choose that library.

How can I view my photos in "Events" like in iPhoto? How can I create events? I have 55,000 photos and 1700 events so the only way I can possibly manage my photos is using events that are one slide in size.

I have 55,000 images organized into about 1700 events. The only reasonable way to view my library is using events in iPhoto where each event has one image That still leaves 1700 images to sort through but that is a lot easier than 55,000 images. In the side bar is a folder with "iPhoto Events" but those views still show all of the slides. How can I create events and view my photos as events as in iPhoto? Events are critical for large libraries and has been my primary way to sort images.

I had a problem a couple of months ago when iPhotos suddenly rearranged the order of my Events (Why won't iPhoto let me arrange my photos?) . I was told "Use albums not events - events are not a good way to organize - albums and folder are designed for organisation and are very flexible".
Haha! I should have paid attention and read between the lines! My iPhotos were highly organised groupings - not according to date but the way I wanted them - and it was so easy to do! I see now that if I had them all in albums, as per the Apple Apologist suggestion, I wouldn't have this unholy mess I have been left with just to make iPhone & iCloud users happy. I am now going through Photos and making Albums (of what used to be in my Events) ... maybe I'll get this finished before they do another non user friendly update!

Thank you for your reply Don, but I had already gone through that procedure and it will only create new mailboxes for received mail. I want to create new mailboxes for sent mail, i.e. the first column being "to" not "from". Under the Mailbox menus there is an option "Use This Mailbox For" but all the options under that (including Sent) are greyed out. Unfortunately the View/Columns option to change from "From" to "To" changes all mailboxes not just the active one.
