How can I create life size images in Lightroom's Book module?

I want to scan something and place it in a book without scaling the original up or down. I have not found a way to do this – Lightroom only tells me what percentage of the image is showing and it can be at any scale. Can anyone say how I should go about this?

You are not doing anything wrong - except to try this in the Lr Book Module.
The Lr Book Module is not a full fledged book layout program, and many things that you expect for a book layout program can't be done.
I would not be so "picky" as to wanting to avoid any up- or downsampling.
But if you absolutely have to, use Blurb Booksmart or Adobe InDesign to do this. In Blurb Booksmart you can design an image box to exact dimensions in inches.
In Lr you cannot do this, a feature that many users want but it seems that Adobe is adamant that templates is the way to go. Lr 5 beta has not changed this.
You can download Blurb Booksmart free of charge from Blurb's website. You will like the freedom of page design that Booksmart offers.
Disadvantages: Your workflow is more complicated than using the Book Module in Lr. And you are bound to print with Blurb.
With Booksmart you have to export the images from Lr to a specific folder from which Booksmart loads the images. But every time you change an image in Lr you have to export it again and load it again in Booksmart.
If you also use the Blurb plug-in for Lr you can create a Blurb Publish Service. Changes to an image that has already been published have to be re-published in Lr but the changes will "carry through" into the book automatically.
Finally, I question whether you can actually test the size of an image in the Lr Book Module by printing the page with your printer. There are reports on this forum that the printed image size is not exactly as shown in the Lr Print Module. I have observed this too with my printer. Mostly the printed image is about 1/8 of an inch larger than in the Lr Print Module. The reason might lie in how the printer translates pixels into ink droplets - just a guess of mine.

  • How can I create clearer, sharper images and buttons in Muse?

How can I create buttons and images that have a vector like clarity? When I upload images (buttons, jpegs and pngs) a lot of the time they seem to have a slightly fuzzy quality to them. I have read previous posts on this matter and none have helped. Any feedback on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When you place your images in exactly the size you saved them in Photoshop or whatever, Muse doesn’t touch it.
The quality in this case is the quality you saved the image.
The best way is, to examine in Muse the available pixel size of the image and then use Photoshop to obtain this size
A helpful widget to examine the potential size of an image in advance, is the "lore ipsum"-Muse-widget, that you find in the free widget collection "Andrew’s Prototypes":

  • How can I create a disk image of snow leopard installer disk from my Imac which runs it?

how can I create a disk image of snow leopard installer disk from my Imac which runs it? It came without DVD installer, and I want to make a copy of it's OS installer but can't find out how.

You need to have the disc in order to create disk image of snow leopard installer disc. What did your machine ship with? If something later than SL, then why? If earlier, then you can buy the SL installer disc and make the disk image.

  • ADF & JSF : how can I create a clickable  image

    Hi,
How can I create a clickable object with an image property and have an action, I want to use it instead of a command button.
    thanks,
    Ahmad Esbita

    Hi Ahmad
One way is to drop an objectImage tag inside a commandLink tag without a text attribute as follows:
    <af:commandLink actionListener="#{backingBean.someMethod}">
      <af:objectImage source="/someimage.gif"/>
</af:commandLink>The image is clickable raising the actionListener event.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I create a NetBoot image using command line tools?

Is it possible to create a NetBoot image entirely using command line tools?
(That is, without using the SystemImageUtility)
If so, are there reasonable instructions posted somewhere?
I don't believe I can use SystemImageUtility with my current setup,
but I would be happy to hear how I could:
I have a set of Xserve clusternodes but without optical drives or video cards.
One node acts as the head, running DHCP, DNS, OpenDirectory, Xgrid.
They are wired to a gigabit switch.
I have a PowerBook connected on the subnet which has ServerAdmin Tools installed.
I don't think when I run SystemImageUtility on my PowerBook that I can successfully image one of the clusternodes disks over the network.
I have tried to start one node in target(Firewire) mode, connect it via Firewire
to the head node, and run hdiutil from the head node to make a complete disk image of the clusternode's drive.
But a NetBoot image requires the whole nbi file, right?
Could I then use copy this disk image to my PowerBook and use SystemImageUtility on my PowerBook to create a NetBoot image from it?
I really have tried to read the PDFs, but I found the section on System Imaging in the Command Line Reference rather unhelpful.
    Thanks for anyones help.

      Mac OS X (10.4.4)

To create a NetBoot image, you could just put the cluster node in target mode and attach it to your PowerBook. Then use SIU to create the NetBoot image.
If you're trying to create a backup image of the disk, use hdiutil, or put in in target mode and create the image with Disk Utility.

  • How can I create a one image per page caption sheet that includes the description in Bridge?

I am trying to find a way to create a one-image-per-page caption sheet for my workflow. I currently place each image into Word and copy the description onto the document, then repeat for each image. I am hoping that there is a way to automate this process using Bridge. I know that it can be done using Lightroom, however, that is not currently an option for me. Is this something that can be done or am I bound, like Sisyphus to Microsoft Word? I have a very limited grasp of scripting, but I feel like this is possible.
    Thanks for any help.

To create a NetBoot image, you could just put the cluster node in target mode and attach it to your PowerBook. Then use SIU to create the NetBoot image.
If you're trying to create a backup image of the disk, use hdiutil, or put in in target mode and create the image with Disk Utility.

  • How can I reduce the size images on a PDF?

I need to reduce a 25MB document to under 20MB. I am using Acrobat X Pro. When I try to reduce the size of a PDF a conversion warning pops up saying the PDF document contained image masks that were not downsampled.

Assuming you have a number of high quality images in your document odds are you can reduce the quality of the images quite a bit before they become visibly noticeable - so long as the images are relatively small - say 1/3 page or less.
If you knock down either the SIZE, QUANTITY or the QUALITY of the images (use GIMP, save as jpgs for pictures, pngs for text-y images to get max file compression) you can dramatically decrease the size of your file.
I took a 12 MB file down to under 3MB with a little selective editing. It CAN be done.

  • How can I turn off the price display in the Book module?

I would love to use the book module to design wedding albums with my clients, but with my cost splashed all over the screen I can only imagine the negotiations that will happen over the price I'll be charging them!  What I need is to be able display the client price,  something allowing a mark-up percentage would be great, however for now I would be happy just to turn it off.

Adobe have stated elsewhere why they initially went with Blurb (worldwide coverage, customer profiles) and that there are mechanisms for other book publishers to come on board.
John, with all due respect (and I do have the utmost respect for your opinion and your contributions here and elsewhere) that just doesn't stand the litmus test. Could you please pont out another Adobe authored application that is so restrictive as to what can be exported. Or so restrictive as to document size and customization to the point where I must either use an outside application or wait patiently for vendors "to come on board" in order to achieve my desired customization? Other than Flash of course ... even then Adobe has gone to great lengths of late to make output from that app much more versatile with conversion options to other devices.
Let's experiment with the other modules and see if your information about Adobe's methods for the Book module holds water:
    Develop Module:
"Adobe have stated elsewhere why they initially went with Nikon (worldwide coverage, customer profiles) and that there are mechanisms for other camera makers to come on board."
    Print Module:
"Adobe have stated elsewhere why they initially went with Epson (worldwide coverage, customer profiles) and that there are mechanisms for other printer manufacturers to come on board."
    Web Module:
"Adobe have stated elsewhere why they initially went with Internet Explorer (worldwide coverage, customer profiles) and that there are mechanisms for other internet browser developers to come on board."
    Slideshow Module:
"Adobe have stated elsewhere why they initially went with WMV (worldwide coverage, customer profiles) and that there are mechanisms for other video file options to come on board."
As I have shared elsewhere, when I want to design a custom size for a book in Aperture 3, I simply select Custom, type in the dimensions and margin sizes and procede to lay out the book. Once completed, I can export the book to the favored vendor (Which could be Blurb for all I know), export to PDF, Export the pages or spreads to TIFF or JPEG ... and all this in one of those terrible restrictive, limiting and "closed" Apple software options ...
I'm sorry, but the Book module in it's current form is almost a total non-feature for many users. Adobe simply got it wrong. I expected much more from them and was willing to pay for it. Half-measures are not sollutions. Unfortunately for Adobe, I only invest in sollutions not more workarounds.

  • JPEG image in lightroom 4 book module

In creating a photobook in Lightroom 4 two JPEG images have an exclamation point in a red square in the  upper right had corner which when clicked says "This photo is offline orcannot be found. It will be omitted when you print your book."  How can this be fixed so that I can send the book to Blurb for printing?
    Kevin

The message means exactly what it says.
That image is not available to Lightroom currently.
Either this image has been moved (outside of Lightroom) or inadvertantly deleted.
In the Library module R-click on the question mark and see if you can't track it down and so re-acquaint Lightroom with this image.

  • How can I create a DVD image that PC users can retrieve and burn...

I need to create a DVD disc image that PC users can retrieve from a private network share and burn to a blank DVD. Once burned, it needs to auto-start at the Menu. The master works fine. Images burned using the Mac Disk Utility work fine. But I have little control over who will download the image or the method by which they will burn it, so I need to provide visitors with guidance. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

    Thank Jeff for this one.....

I've also heard that you can just copy an ".img" iDVD image to a pc, change the extension to .iso and then burn with Nero, etc. But I haven't tried it myself.....

  • How can I create write-able images

The problem I have is that when I create imagges through aperture and export, then burn to cd, when I put them in my other computer I can't edit the images as they are locked and 'read only'.
Is this an Aperture export preference or is it somewhere in the settings?
I need to get these images to someone so they can edit them but I can't figure it out.
    TIA

Wow...do I feel stupid. I knew this but for some reason my brain was telling me it was more complicated than it needed to be.
Thanks for pointing out the obvious  and saving me a headache.

  • How can I create a vi Image I can export to Powerpoint

    Create documentation for review

The solution depends on how you want to export to Powerpoint. I use pdfFactory which prints my VI to a pdf file. The file can be somewhat modified in Photoshop, has reasonable clarity, and is fairly compact.
If you require more editing then another format will have to be selected.
You can download a trial version of pdfFactory Pro and use it if you do not mind the reminder at the bottom of the page.

  • How can I create a dynamic image button

    Hi
I want to fill a region with buttons with image. I will execute a PL/SQL procedure to do this. I have made some tests but the image didn't is shown.
I write in my plsql code:
    htp.p('<input type="image" src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#image.png" >');
    Any help?
I am using Apex 4, EPG, Oracle 11g, Ubuntu environment.
    Tks a lot.
    Ricardo

There is no "image" type for an INPUT tag
    Oh yes there is.
    >
I have made some tests but the image didn't is shown.
I write in my plsql code:
htp.p('<input type="image" src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#image.png" >');Works for me&mdash;in terms of images being displayed&mdash;from a dynamic PL/SQL region. Confirm the image(s) exist as uploaded files and are correctly referenced (case sensitive)? The image(s) are actually workspace images and not associated with a particular application?
However, the bigger problem likely to arise here is that we don't normally generate <tt>input</tt> elements in APEX in this fashion: we either get APEX to do this for us or we use the <tt>apex_item</tt> API&mdash;which doesn't include a method for generating inputs of type <tt>image</tt>. If this region is generated inside the form APEX generates then page submission will fail with a 404 error as the inputs generated through your PL/SQL are not known to APEX. All you can really do in this fashion is attach an <tt>onclick</tt> event handler to submit the page using the <tt>apex.submit</tt> JavaScript API method, either using a Dynamic Action as Tobias suggests, or directly in your code:
htp.p(q'{<input type="image" src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#icon-1.png" onclick="apex.submit('foo'); return false;" alt="Foo" />}');Which means it's not a great deal different from using an <tt>img</tt> element, as Andy said. There's also the <tt>button</tt> element, which allows you to construct a clickable button using other elements (as long as you don't have to support IE6):
htp.p(q'{<button type="submit" onclick="apex.submit('bar');"><img src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#icon-2.png" alt="Bar" /></button>}');Why have you chosen to try this approach rather using <tt>img</tt> or APEX button templates?
