How can I customize a number format?

In the previous numbers release (Numbers 9) there was a menu were you were able to customize a number format similar to what you can do with Excel. Have they drop this functionality in the new release?

And, in case you would like to get a more balanced view about new features as well as those removed, there is this article  and this thread.  Plus this announcement from Apple about features they plan to restore in releases over the next six months.
If you use Excel and have a particular customized number format you need to use, I understand you can open the spreadsheet in Numbers and that customized format will be imported and made available to you in Numbers 3.0.

  • How can I customize the cell format "Time"

    Here's my problem:
I'm importing  aschedule from my soccer club from an internet page in csv. In essence it shows me:
    DateOfMatch, StartTime, EndTime
Upon import Numbers adds to the two time cells a date as this is not included in the source data.
    So I end up with
    yyyy-mm-dd; yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss; yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss
    What I need is:
    yyyy-mm-dd; hh:mm:ss; hh:mm:ss
I couldn't find an option to get time only in a cell.
    Any advice appreciated.
    Cheers

    Hi Jerry,
    Thanks for your patience.
What I want to do in the end is create an entry (appointment) in iCal This is done via a script.
The set StartDate and SetEnddate expects date&time in one cell. So far so good. This is what Numbers provides.
My problem is that the .csv file I get from the internet download comes as
    yyyy-mm-dd; hh:mm; hh:mm as described earlier.
Upon import Numbers changes the format and adds a date to the "tme only" column. The date added is the import date, which I cannot use of course as I need my iCal entry to reflect the actual date of the match.
To generate the format I need for iCal I would need to delete the import date Numbers added and concatenate the imported match date with the start/end time to get the proper date aligned with the StartTime which then gets interpreted correctly by iCal.
I hope it's getting clear what I'm trying to do.
I was in the opinion there must be a way as Windows Excel can do it.
The only alternative I found so far is to change the cell formatting into text and edit the cell manually which is okay for one or two entries ...
    Cheers

  • Customize Billing Number Format

    Hi Experts,
How do I customize billing number format as a alphanumeric.
    Rajesh

    Hi
Billing document number is always internal in standard
So Internally giving alpha numeric number is not possible in standard
But external number range is possible with userexit mentioned below
    USEREXIT_NUMBER_RANGE (Module pool SAPLV60A, program RV60AFZZ)
The internal number range used in the standard system is specified in the billing type table and can be changed in this user exit. This user exit is only called when the billing documents is created.
A zee table is to be maintained according to the requirement
and maintain the entries in billing no range object RV_BELEG
This can be done with the help of the ABAPer
But i am not sure whether you can achieve alphanumeric number
If possible kindly update us why do you require alphanumeric number for billing

  • How can I change the date format in Reminders and in Notes?

How can I change the date format in both Notes and Reminders? Preference on Imac and Settings in IOS do not allow me to change the format in those 2 apps.
I Like to see 10oct rather than 10/10, as an example.

    pierre
I do not have Mavericks or iOS - but the first thing I would do is reset the defaults - I'll use Mavericks as an example
From If the wrong date or time is displayed in some apps on your Mac - Apple Support
    OS X Yosemite and Mavericks
        Open System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Language & Region.
        Click the Advanced button.
        Click the Dates tab.
        Click the Restore Defaults button.
        Click the Times tab.
        Click the Restore Defaults button.
        Click OK.
Quit the app where you were seeing incorrect dates or times displayed.
Open the app again, and verify that the dates and times are now displayed correctly.
Then customize to taste - OS X Mavericks: Customize formats to display dates, times, and more
OS X Mavericks: Customize formats to display dates, times, and more
Change the language and formats used to display dates, times, numbers, and currencies in Finder windows, Mail, and other apps. For example, if the region for your Mac is set to United States, but the format language is set to French, then dates in Finder windows and email messages appear in French.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Language & Region.
Choose a geographic region from the Region pop-up menu, to use the region’s date, time, number, and currency formats.
To customize the formats or change the language used to display them, click Advanced, then set options.
In the General pane, you can choose the language to use for showing dates, times, and numbers, and set formats for numbers, currency, and measurements.
In the Dates and Times panes, you can type in the Short, Medium, Long, and Full fields, and rearrange or delete elements. You can also drag new elements, such as Quarter or Milliseconds, into the fields.
When you’re done customizing formats, click OK.
The region name in Language & Region preferences now includes “Custom” to indicate you customized formats.
To undo all of your changes for a region, choose the region again from the Region pop-up menu. To undo your changes only to advanced options, click Advanced, click the pane where you want to undo your changes, then click Restore Defaults.
To change how time is shown in the menu bar, select the “Time format” checkbox in Language & Region preferences, or select the option in Date & Time preferences.
Here's the result AppleScript i use to grab the " 'Short Date' ' + ' 'Short Time' "  to paste into download filenames - works good until I try to post it here - the colon " : " is a no-no but is fine in the Finder
Looks like iOS Settings are a bit less robust
    - Date/Time formats are displayed according to 'tradition' of your region > http://help.apple.com/ipad/8/#/iPad245ed123

  • How do I change the number formatting within a Cell Table in Microsoft Word?

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out on an issue I've been having... I work for an accounting firm and we do a lot of financial statements.
I was wondering if we would be able to treat a cell table in Microsoft Word 2007 like I would a cell table in Microsoft Excel. Meaning, I would like to change the formatting of the numbers in the table to the "Accounting" (number) format so it
aligns by the decimal point and use the $ signs and () for negative numbers.  We do use the link tables feature, however, most of our balancing pages just can't be done in Excel because of the way the text is written. It would be much harder to format
the text if it were to be typed in Excel. We have also tried  creating an Excel sheet within Microsoft Word but it is the same as linking the tables... Again, a text formatting issue.  The only option is to use tables within Word but how do we change
the number formatting to a "accounting" (number) format where the numbers would align with the decimal point and use () for the negative numbers. Is there ANY option for us to do this other than manually entering this information in using tabs?
If there are no options other than entering it in manually, please consider this as an option for your next software update. I believe that a LOT of people out there will be interested in this feature... My manager and I just attended a webinar on Microsoft
Advanced Word Tips Tricks and Techniques and 75% of the attending people had this question but no answer.
Thank you very much for your help!!!!!

Word does not really have number formatting for table cells. You can align cell contents on the decimal point, though, by setting a so-called decimal tab stop.
    Option 1:
    - Select the cells for which you want to do this.
    - Display the ruler.
    - Click the Tab box on the left hand side of the ruler until the box contains an inverted T with a dot.
    - Click in the ruler where you want the decimal tab.
    Option 2:
    - Select the cells for which you want to do this.
    - Click the arrow in the lower right corner of the Paragraph group on the Home tab of the ribbon.
    - Click the Tabs... button in the lower left corner of the dialog.
    - Specify a tab position in the box, e.g. 1.5".
    - Select the 'Decimal' radio button under 'Alignment'.
    - Click Set.
    - Click OK.
You will have to type the numbers as they should appear, including the $ for currency and the ( ) for negative numbers.

  • How can  i  display the Number  instead of  E

    Hello Everyone ;
I am getting confused. How can i display the Number but the Exponential value is coming as E.
    SQL> select sum(amount_sold) from sales;
    SUM(AMOUNT_SOLD)
    1.1287E+11
    Table details ..
    SQL> desc sales
    Name                                          Null?        Type
    AMOUNT_SOLD NUMBER
i want to change 1.1287E+11 to "numeric"
    DB : 10.2.0.4
    os : rhel 5.1

Just a minor correction on an obvious math/responding too fast error: 1.1287E+11 is a 12 digit number. You move the decimal 11 positions to the right which would add 7 zeroes to the value.
    MPOWEL01> l
      1  select length(to_char(1.1287E+11)), to_char(1.1287E+11,'999,999,999,999'), 1.1287E+11 "TEST"
      2* from sys.dual
    MPOWEL01> col TEST format 999999999999
    MPOWEL01> /
    LENGTH(TO_CHAR(1.1287E+11)) TO_CHAR(1.1287E+          TEST
12  112,870,000,000  112870000000the problem was that the OP failed to alias the sum result to the formatted column rather than the lenght of the data.

  • How can I put a number like m.dddddd+Exx

I don't know how can I put a number like m.dddddd+Exx or m.ddddddE-xx using DecimalFormat
    or NumberFormat

Here's a quote from the API documentation for DecimalFormat:
    Scientific Notation
Numbers in scientific notation are expressed as the product of a mantissa and a power of ten, for example, 1234 can be expressed as 1.234 x 10^3. The mantissa is often in the range 1.0 <= x < 10.0, but it need not be. DecimalFormat can be instructed to format and parse scientific notation only via a pattern; there is currently no factory method that creates a scientific notation format. In a pattern, the exponent character immediately followed by one or more digit characters indicates scientific notation. Example: "0.###E0" formats the number 1234 as "1.234E3".
(End quote.) More explanation follows this in the documentation.

How can i put de number 2 over km 2?  Comment mettre le 2 surélevé pour km carré?

    Hi Bellu77,
Using the Character Viewer you can add a ² to make km² in Mountain Lion:
OS X Mountain Lion: Enter special characters and symbols
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10758
By default, the Digits list is not listed in Character Viewer, but that article includes instructions on showing other lists including Digits:
    Customize the Character Viewer
If you don’t see the character or symbol that you want to use, try customizing the Character Viewer.
Choose Customize List from the Action pop-up menu (looks like a gear) in the top-left corner of the Character Viewer.
Select the categories that you want to appear in the Character Viewer, and then click Done.

  • How can I customize my report by Teststand

How can I customize my report by Teststand

TestStand by itself does not provide a reporting mechanism which can deliver a report as shown in your screenshot.
I see three options for you to proceed:
1.) Analyze the options you have with the default TestStand reporting (e.g. XML with style sheet). Consider if you really require the report layout and file format (docx) shown in your screenshot or if XML/HTML or ASCII text will also work. Play around with the report options until it works for you. This would be the simplest solution.
2.) Log report data into a database and create an additional software package to retrieve data from there and display it as the required report.
3.) Exchange the TestStand reporting mechanism with a complete self written version to create docx-files with the required layout. This will be the most complex approach except you are familiar with the TS API, but don't know anything about databases....
When following either option 2 or 3, you can
    a) try yourself as developer
    b) search for an integration partner implementing that stuff for you. When following option 3), i recommend you to search for an NI Alliance Member with TestStand knowledge.
    hope this helps,

  • How can I customize the packing slip to reorder the products?

How can I customize a packing slip or invoice so that the products show up in numerical order and Not in some random order (maybe how they were put into the cart?) ?  There HAS to be a way to do this!

We don't use the installation maker built into the application builder, instead we use a third party tool that is free and gives additional options; like including a license and to split the installation set to fit on floppies. It's called Inno Setup and can be found on: http://www.jrsoftware.org/. It is script-based but also has a nice wizard.
Inno Setup does not give you much room for splash screens though. There are a number of shareware alternatives (not all free as Inno as far as I've seen) that does, if you do a search for installer makers on download.com you'll get a list of them.
