How can i delete an old profile off game center when i dont know the password?

i set up an account on game center when i first got my old iphone and have since upgraded my iphone. i cant remeber the password for it and so cant log in. i cant seem to reset the password but when i play games i get a prompt telling me that no achievements will be saved until i log in. i have opened a new account on game center but still get the prompt from the old account!!! can anyone help?

If your device is signed into an old iCloud ID that is an earlier version of the ID you want to sign in with, do the following:
If you are using iMessage and FaceTime, make sure you are signed into these services with your current ID. If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.) Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID). Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless you are using iCloud Photo Library). When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).

Although your profile says you're running iOS 5.1.1 it sounds like you're running iOS 7 (otherwise you would not need your password to delete the old account). Assuming that's true, and your iCloud ID has changed but you need to delete the old account in order to change to your new one, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. FYI - all apps, all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the Apple ID that was used to download the apps. Not possible to merge or transfer apps downloaded with one Apple ID to another.
This means in order to install an app update with an app that was downloaded with your old Apple ID, you will need to use that Apple ID and password.

If he added Find my iPhone you need him to enter the password to remove it from the account, he can track & erase the device via that. It will remain on that account after a factory reset too (it's an anti theft tool).
If he simply used iCloud for the app store or iTunes the account should not be 'locked' to the device, you can perform a factory reset to delete all data & remove the account. You lose the everything & need to reinstall & setup all the apps you use.
Settings > iCloud should show which features are active.

The same thing happens if I try to sync the phone before disconnecting. I have "manually manage music" checked. Additionally, when I reconnect my iPhone, the music I "deleted" from it when it was previously connected to iTunes no longer appears, preventing me from trying to delete it again.
I know I can swipe left on each song to delete it on my phone, and I have been, but that takes a long time when you're trying to delete everything on your iPhone.

Hi Did you use the same Apple ID toxset up new iPhone? Try a Reboot press & hold power button & menu button hold both down until you see Apple Logo. You may need to do this for upto 50 Seconds. Cheers Brian
