How can I delete from memory?

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 5. Many months ago, I made a typo on my friend's email address when i entered it in my Contacts. (I mistyped .com as .comi.) This became apparent to me only after my first email to him came back undeliverable. I corrected the entry in my Contacts. Now, when I include him in a new group email or when I start a new single email to just him, when I type the first few letters of his name in the address line, the iPhone suggests first the old mistyped email address and then his corrected Contacts entry. Is there a way to delete the memory of that typo error? Thank you for your help.

You'll have to restore the iPhone and set it up as a new device to get rid of that cached data.
You can leave feedback for Apple here, maybe a erase cached data feature will be added to the next update -> http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

I don't know much about iPhones but when you write "memory" do you mean the data on your hard drive on your MacBook Pro? If so, simply drag the items you deem as useless into the Trash and empty the Trash. DON'T fool around with any of the system items, just your own documents that you feel that you no longer need.

  • What & How Can I Delete From My L515

I have the Satellite L515-S4925 Laptop.  I'm strictly using this laptop for DJing.  So, there are a lot of pre-loaded programs that I will never use.  I want to delete some of these programs, but past experiences have taught me that deleting some programs will effect other programs, or cause the computer to not work properly.  I thought of asking tech support, but I thought I ask here first.  Which programs can I delete safely?  And, can I delete them just using the Add/Uninstall Program through the Control Panel?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You would be surprised how many people literally delete programs instead of uninstalling them.  I have adopted the policy on forums to take a person at their word.  If they say they deleted a program I procede under that impression.  I figure anyone smart enough to uninstall a program should be intelligent enough to say that is what they did rather than say they deleted it.  I gave up trying to second guess or read anything into posts.
The complete specs for your system can be found on the UK Support Site here.  The list of what programs are installed are about 2/3's of the way down.
And yes, I said that one should NOT uninstall the Toshiba programs as it tends to cause problems doing so.  The only Toshiba labeled programs that can safely be uninstalled are the Toshiba DVD Player as long as you install a different DVD player program or you don't intend to watch DVDs, the Toshiba Disk Creator if you install a different burner program or don't intend to burn any DVDs or CDs, and the Toshiba Service Station which doesn't tend to work correctly anyway.
The rest of the Toshiba programs are UTILITIES rather than applications and tend to cause problems when they are uninstalled.  If one does a clean install of Windows from an actual Windows Install Disk (rather than using the recovery process to restore the system) they normally don't have a problem if they don't install all of them, but once they have been installed it's normally better to leave them installed.
Personally I like my system running properly.  I don't obsess over trivial system processes running in the background and use inconsequential amounts of ram or disk space.  I've found over the years (and I'm talking as someone whose computer usage goes back to the mid 1970's) that it's better to have a system run stable and allow me to get things done.  I don't want to spend all of my time tweaking it and then fighting it when it acts up.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • My trash in iPhoto has no thumbnails in it, however, it says it has over 31k photos.  I had over 67K, but "put back" what thumbnails I could see in order to move them over in smaller groups to delete.  How can I delete what isn't there?

My trash in iPhoto has no thumbnails in it, however, it says I have over 31K photos in it.  I have already "put back" over 35K photos to Events.  How can I delete from iPhoto photos that are not in a thumbnail?  Also, I have been deleting these for over a year assuming that they were being deleted when I put them in the trash.  I didn't realize that there was an iPhoto trash along with my computer trash.  I can't put the other Events into the trash until I erase what's in there. Thank you for any help  you can give me.

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

  • How can i delete messages on iMessage and have them STAY GONE?

How can I delete messages from my iPhone and have them STAY GONE and not have them show up on my computer or iPad? Same thing, how can I delete from any of these and have them NOT show up on the other devices? If I delete on one, it stays on the other. It's a constant circle of deleting messages? I want them gone when deleted.  Maverick. iPad4th iPhone 5
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    First off.
The "Sync" as Apple calls it is only "Display on all Devices" and nothing more.
Deleting it on one device will not delete it on another.
On the Mac the iMessages are stored in ~/Library/Messages in file called chat.db with a couple of supporting database items alongside.
If you "close"  or remove the chat in the list in the Messages window (the x when you mouse over the name and pic) then the iMessage will "return" as an "Aid Memoire" to the previous conversation.
This is local on your Mac and is nothing to do with any 'sync' over the iMessages servers.
The longest time I have experienced was using my iPhone on a hotel WiFi on a Friday evening away form home and picking up those same iMessage on Sunday evening when I turned my Mac on.
The iMessages servers "push" the iMessages to the devices it thinks are Registered.
However this only happens once.  When the device has the iMessages the servers stop sending it.
This is to stop what you seem to describe - the endless attempt to delete the same iMessages.
It is more likely you are talking about the "history" feature.

At the present time, the only way to clear that is to restore the phone as new.  Perhaps a future iOS update will give us the option to clear that cache.

  • How can you delete iOS 8 from iPad, it is using too much memory

how can i delete ios8 from my iPad? since i downloaded it my iPad is slow, pages sometimes get caught in endless loop, and is taking up all of my storage

If you haven't installed it yet, settings, general, usage, populate the whole list and you should be able to remove the installer. (last I read you could delete it, with iOS7 the installer was not able to be deleted)
If you've already installed it, Apple does not support downgrading. If you'd like to go into specific issues, maybe people here can suggest some fixes or work arounds.

I downloaded a word file from an inbox mail (the mail app) onto my iPad, where is this file stored? How can I delete it if it takes up space in my iPad? Any ideas??

Did you ever figure out what happened?
I had the same experience as you did, but in my case it was a big fat pdf that Mail insisted I had to download before I could view it. As happened with you, I saw the file actually downloading, and after a time I was able to view the pdf. It's been my assumption that the pdf is still somewhere on my iPad, but I have no idea where, nor how to delete it if it is still there.
    Thanks.

How can I delete files from it?

The startup disk is the internal SSD in your MBA.  You may delete files by draging the file  to Trash (or clicking on them and then execute COMMAND+Delete).  Then empty Trash.

I tried to use the attached command through TERMINAL :
    sqlite3 ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock/*.db "DELETE from apps WHERE title='Help';" && killall Dock
sqlite3: Error: too many options: "DELETE from apps WHERE title='Help';"

I'm in the same boat as you -- except that I manage both a school lab (volunteer job) and macs in the enterprise (pay job).  What I think we need is the Education Volume Purchasing Program
    http://www.apple.com/education/volume-purchase-program/faq.html
Unfortunately this all seems a little rough around the edges -- for example, I have found updates for AppStore apps on the support.apple.com updates download site, but then when I install them via ARD they don't actually update the software.  (The AppStore icons still show as needing the updates, and the version info reports the old version.)  The documentation is also vague about which AppleID to use in which circumstance.  I think they just haven't finished thinking through the implications of the various procedures and policies upon the various kinds of customers.  When we deployed Mountain Lion on the school lab, we made an install usb and went around and installed it on each computer -- and it appears that you are on the honor system as far as paying for all of the licenses that you install.  We did!  But they appear to have no way to enforce it.
So far, I have only deployed 9 Lion macs in my day job, and our "solution" to the AppStore showing updates problem has been to drag the AppStore icon off of the users' docks so they don't see them!

  • How can i delete some books from ibook?

How can i delete some books from ibook? It says: this book can't be opened. The book is corrupt. I can't open and I can't delete it

I was unable to delete a book sample from my iPhone 5s running iOS 7.  This seems to be what worked for me.  I went to the Library and clicked "edit" in upper right side of the screen.  I then tapped one time on the book I wanted to remove and a blue check appeared at the bottom right corner of that book (presumably you could tap several at a time)  Anyway, when the blue check is on the book, you will see in the upper left of the screen the word "Delete" (mine was in red) I clicked that and then a confirming dialog came up from the bottom of the screen with the choices of "delete" or "cancel".  I chose "delete" and the book was gone.  Hope this helps.
