HOW CAN I DELETE UNWANTED APPLICATIONS?

Hello,
I  have somehow downloaded (or maybe they were preloaded) some applications that I want to delete as I am not using them but I cannot find the way.
They are:
1. Windows Live Messenger
2. AOL Instant Messenger
3. ICQ
4. Yahoo! Messenger
5. Yahoo! Messenger (yes correct it is there twice)
6. Google Talk
7. Google Talk  (yes again it is there twice)
Can someone tell me how to get rid of these? I have tried through desktop manager and through the phone itsel but no luck.
Please help
Thanks
Ilias

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
From "no luck", I will guess that neither DTM nor the Applications list (in Options) show those. As such, they therefore are not installed applications. Rather, they are teaser shortcuts, pushed to you by your carrier, designed to entice you to install the app. They are not the actual app...just a shortcut to the install. You cannot block them. What I do is create a folder called "Spare Icons" (some call it "Junk") and put all such things there. That way, they are all out of my way yet I can get to them if I need to. You also can hide them.
Good luck!

  • How can I delete unwanted/inaccurate email addresses from the iPhone cache?

How can I delete old / unwanted / inaccurate email addresses from the "suggestions cache" that keep popping up the moment I type in the first letter in on a fresh email address box?
This is driving me mad! The London Store Apple Genius can only suggest either deleting my email account and then recreating it or totally reseting the iPhone to the original factory settings and then resynching it to my MacBook Pro to get everything back into the iPhone. However, he's not sure that this cache is not stored on the MacBook Pro during synching somewhere so I may well end up where I started! Allan Sampson answered my last "Help" topic, so I'm hoping he can beat the Apple Store Genius again!
Over to the Forum and Allan.

Hi Kelvin and everyone with the same problem.
This used to be me and the painful solution ( for PC users ) is:
    Buy a Mac!
Everything "talks" to each other and it all interfaces fine with the business world.
Once you've adjusted to the ( much better ) Mac "culture" it all becomes clear and the
backup service and advice is second to none. Not only that, everything works!
    Hope this helps......

To delete files that are stored in your Acrobat.com online account, please log in to https://cloud.acrobat.com and click the Files tab. You'll find your files in the either the Recent Files list or Document Cloud Files lists. Select the file or files that you want to delete, and then click Delete at the top of the file list.

  • How can i delete unwanted songs from iTunes match?

With a limit on how many songs that can be uploded to iTunes match, how can i remove songs that i didn't want uploaded to the Cloud?

Right click on the song on the computer your music is on and delete the song and make sure you check the box that says delete from iCloud.
If you want to delete the song from iCloud you also have to delete the song from the library that you are syncing from.

When I go to type a mail adress on my ipad I get a drop down list of previous mail addresses including all the typo's and used once. There doesn't seem to be a way of deleting unwanted one's. Unless anyone knows better?

No, it can't be done. There have been many requests for this.
All you can do is send feedback to Apple on it at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iPad.html

  • HT201272 Cannot download previously deleted app iphoto. Other deleted apps re install exactly as manual says. Also, how can I delete unwanted photos from "photos" app, which were brought in via Dropbox? Ipad Air wi fi running ios 7 (my first apple product

New to Apple, having fun with ipad Air, but geting frustrated with its weird ways.
Deleted the iphoto app to clear out photos (yes, really). Now cannot download it again. Other deleted apps download exactly as the manual says but not iphoto. Can anyone suggest how to fix please? Also, cannot delete test photos from"photos" app, brought in from Dropbox. Can anyone tell me how to do this please?
    All help gratefully received.

You should be able to redownload it via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your iPad - if it's not showing there (you haven't changed countries since buying the app ?) then check to see if it's hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
For the photos, if they are in the Camera Roll album in the Photos app then you can either delete them via the trashcan icon in the bottom right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the Select button top right in thumbnail view.

  • How can I delete unwanted notes from iCloud

I have an iPhone 4S.  I turned on the iCloud feature and chose to have my Notes backed up.  Somehow I ended up with multiple copies of Note files on my phone.  When I delete the Notes I don't want from my phone, they reappear.  How do I delete the note files from my phone and have them removed from the iCloud so they are not automatically restored?

You can't permanently delete them, but you could hide them so that they don't show in the cloud for redownloading : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases

  • How can I delete unwanted albums from my iCloud without iTunes Match?!

Hello, can someone please tell me how I can get rid of old unwanted albums in my iCloud without using iTunes Match? I don't have the actual files of these albums anymore, so the only place where they currently exist is in my iCloud. I have tried to access them via my iMac and iPad but unfortunately I can't access those files in the sense of deleting them for good.
    Any suggestions welcomed.
    Thanks

  • How can I prevent unwanted applications reappearing in the Mac OS X Lion dock?

Every time I log out and back in, or shut down / restart the computer, three applications that I have previously removed from the dock (Mission Control, the App Store and FaceTime) reappear in the dock. I see someone else on a different forum is having exactly the same problem.
I have no problem removing them during my session - I can right click 'Remove From Dock', and they disappear in a little puff of smoke. But when I log back in, there they are again.
This is not critical, but it's quite frustrating! Any ideas on how to stop this happening?
    Thanks,
    Helen

    1. Find the file in: /library/preferences/com.apple.dockfixup.plist
    2. Trash it
    3. Restart
    And done.
Basically, if you trash that file you tell your mac to build a new dock file and it will work fine after that. Had the same problem but this solved it for me.
Also, back up the file beforehand, just in case.

  • How can I delete an application that is locked?

Hello--I am working on a MacBook Pro (mid-2010), OS 10.8.5. I discovered looking through Finder that a Crash Plan app (I had tried a free couple of weeks and then asked to cancel) is still occupying 190.4 MB. During a routine virus scan, I saw in the Sophos log (which said "no threats") that Crash Plan seemed to have attempted to activate numerous times; but when I tried to delete it by first unchecking the "locked" box on the Info pane, the check immediately returned every time. Can anyone tell me how I can successfully and permanently trash this? Thank you!

  • How can one remove unwanted applications?

Thought I might like to make some space on my Notebook. Can I completely remove all the applications I don't need like Garageband, iMovie etc. by simply dragging thier appearence in finder, under applications, to the trash? Will this completely remove the programs? Also, if in the future I find I want to use one of these apps. that I remolved, I can reinstall them off of the mac os x install disc 1 right?

Yes, you can remove those applications by dragging them to the trash, but you might miss all of their little buddies that hide out in places like /Library/Application Support, etc. You can also reinstall them individually by using something like Pacifist. However, make sure you know where all the pieces are hiding. For example, items in Utilities are scattered about in three different packages. If space is that critical, I suggest that you get an external FireWire HD and use it for your bootable backup, applications you don't need, and extraneous data files. That way, if you ever wanted to use them, a quick drag & drop will suffice.

  • How do you delete an application on Macbook pro 2012?

I just downloaded something off the web and no longer need it. It seems silly, but how can i delete the application?

It depends. Most of the time you just put the application in the trash (and empty the trash, if you are so inclined). If the application used an installer, you often also have an uninstaller (which may be an option in the installer). Which application is it and how did you install it?

  • How can I delete an unwanted template from 'My Templates'?

How can I delete an unwanted template from 'My Templates'? I created this in error and cannot find a way to remove it. Thanks for all help.

Pages stores those you created & saved as templates in (your account) > Library > Application Support > iWork > Pages > Templates > My Templates. The user's Library is hidden in Lion but it is easy to open. In Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your users Library will appear about halfway down the list.
I suggest you update your profile to show your current version of OS X. Click on "Your Stuff" at the top right of this page & choose profile (bottom of the list) then click edit.
