How can I disable expose and dashboard in Maverick?

Any suggestions would be MOSt appreciated. Right now both of these keep popping up when using the Macbook pro trackpad AND the mouse. We are not using them anyway and want them disabled.

I had already unchecked everything in mission control but I noticed that there was a place to select mouse buttons so I changed buttons down there. I had to select something for the secondary button (I had both right and left clicks on my iMac mouse set to primary button but there is no setting there on Maverick for it) so now the secondary button is set for "desktop" and we have to make sure we use only the left click.
As far as the trackpad goes, I took off the secondary option for that so now we don't click accidentally on anything else.
Now I'm looking for a way to disable the lit keyboard but only found settings as to how long it's on. I did have it on 5 seconds but when we used it, it kept going on and off and I think it's using up more battery power going on and off constantly so now it's set to 1 minute.

To disable Dashboard:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES
You have to restart the Dock afterwards:
killall Dock
You still have to tear Dashboard off the Dock although you could amend the com.apple.dock.plist If you wanted to? Amend the persistent-apps tile data settings. To re-enable Dashboard at a future date:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO
Restart the Dock again with the same command.
Not sure if there is a command to disable Expose? I think some of its settings can be found in com.apple.systempreferences.plist? If it looks like it has what you want you should be able copy it either using the Copy feature in ARD or sending a Unix command like cp (man cp) instead.
Alternatively apply the plist to an OD Group as a managed preference assuming you've an OD environment?

How can I disable Expose?

Pardon my ignorance but I'm new to the Mac world. I want to use the keyboard shortcut <Shift+F3> in my text editing software to toggle the ChangeCase command but this combination seems to have a life of its own - it activates Expose even though I have disabled Expose in the System Preferences.
In the Expose Preferences, I tried two different tactics - first I left the activation keys blank (with the hyphen) but this failed to stop <shift+f3> from activating Expose. So then I tried assigning other keyboard shortcut keys to Expose in the Preferences. Still no joy - <shift+F3> still activates Expose. Where is this association between <shift+F3> and Expose being made if not in the Preference pane?
I have gone through the entire list of Keyboard shortcuts which is listed in the Keyboard Preferences, and have eliminated F3 wherever it was being used by as a shortcut for another application. But to no avail! It is like <shift+F3> is hardwired to activate Expose. I really don't want Expose at all - I could uninstall it for all I care. How can I control <shift+F3> and assign it the action I want? Just going to the System Preference Panes is not working for me.

Yes, you are right - the keyboard has a picture of Expose on F3, so I guess it is indeed hardwired. I tried your suggestion of selecting the "use Fkeys as standard keys" option in the keyboard preferences - this works with Microsoft Word but not with Open Office text documents. But I am happy, now at least I have one program that works like it is supposed to! Incidentally, there are two sequences which are hardwired into the Apple USB extended keyboard F3 key - a slow Expose and a fast Expose. With the Preferences set to "use Fkeys as standard keys" as you suggested, the slow Expose is hardwired to <FNshiftF3> and the quick Expose is hardwired to <FN+F3>. but now they don't bother me. thanks for the quick and helpful reply! I'm working at a project about I add a interactivity into DPS. First, I create a basic struture code in HTML5 and after I add it to a layer into DPS. Well, It work perfectly, but, two problems appear:
The navigator bar appear when I touch interactivity layer.
I can zoom it even I deny it with user-scalable set as "no".
How can I fix it? I really appreciate some help

Yep... It really work, but, I've a game and I set a container with touch gestures (start, move and end) to deny zoom and pop up navigator bar (container { width: 768px; height: 924px; } ), and now the user can't leave the page by touch/dragging on the div, and then for my buttons (to play containerButtons{width: 768px; height: 100px;} ), I need to set touchmove event to it doesn't pop up navigator bar (and again the user can't leave the page). Again I don't think it the best idea :/...

Since downloading Mountain Lion, I keep getting this pop up notification but it disappears to quick for me to even read the first letter. How can I disable this, and what is going on??

I got mountian lion for my macbook pro when it came out and since then, a mac notification pops up every once in a while and it just flashes on the screen real quick and then goes away. I can't even read the first letter so I don't know what it's saying or how I should fix this/disable it. Any ideas??

I haven't figured out what caused it, but I seem to have fixed it by doing a simple back up and restore to factory settings than set up with the back up. Everything is working fine now. I would recommend trying that if you haven't already.

If you hold down the option key while in dashboard you can close many of the programs.
To disable it from opening automatically, or unintentionally:
1) go to System preferences -> mission control.
2) Deselect any mouse shortcuts
3) Remove it from hot corners, if it is active.

On my page I have a submit button that execute the submit_action method of the page backing bean that submit data captured on the page into a database and activate another class that send mail at the same time on a click of the submit button,the mail process takes a while before returning back to the page.I was able to disable the submit button to prevent the user from keep click while the process is running but the issue is on clicking the submit button it only disable the submit button without executing the submit_action method of the page backing bean.How can i disable the submit button and execute submit_method of the backing bean at the same time.

I tried this out on one of my pages to see if it works.
First, I added the following JavaScript to my submit button's onClick event:
this.disabled=true; return true;When I clicked the submit button, it was disabled but the form was not submitted.
I deleted the JavaScript from the onClick event and added the following JavaScript to the form's onSubmit event:
var button = document.getElementById("form1:submitButton"); button.disabled=true; return true;When I click the submit button, it was disabled and the form was submitted but the button's action method was not called.
The next thing I tried was to change the onSubmit event code:
var button = document.getElementById("form1:submitButton"); setTimeout("button.disabled=true", 500); return true;This seemed to work. The difference was that I added a 1/2 second delay before disabling the button.
See if that works for you. If not then I'm fresh out of ideas.

Which firmware your N8 having now? You can check firmware by choosing Call, then type *#0000#.
My N8 works fine on security setting and able to define Phone auto lock period, by choosing Menu>Settings>Phone>Phone management>Security settings>Phone and SIM card>Phone auto lock period>User defined>Lock after(minutes)
You will prompt to enter Lock code each time u define auto lock priod or enable/disable auto lock.

What phone?
You would need to disable data on the phone itself. You wouldn't do it online on your account.
Note also that text messages do not count toward your data allowance.

With the iPod connected to your computer go to the Summary pane for the iPod in iTunes and uncheck the box that says: Sync with this iPod over Wi-Fi.
Also in the Summary pane check the box that says backup to the computer.
