How can I disable local file access security check?

I would like to disable the security check used for blocking access to local files.

I don't know if this is completely correct, but...
I have the NoScript extension installed. When I looked in about:config, I found an entry called:
noscript.allowLocalLinks
When I toggled this to "true," I was able to navigate via URLs to local and networked files.
When I looked it up, I found out that you can set this switch using the NoScript UI (Options|Advanced|Trusted).

Curious if anyone knows a way in Lion/Mountain Lion to disable the OSX access point features.
i have about 50+ macs in our company for iOS development. lately we've had a lot of rogue AP's showing up, people bridging the internal network by activating the "become a hotspot" feature in OSX. this is a *GREAT* feature, don't get me wrong. especially the latency and ease of use.. but in our case its causing problems, and i'm looking at a way to disable the AP features without disabling ALL wifi with something like.
/usr/sbin/networksetup -setairportpower en1 off
this is a bit too much ,it disables the entire airport/wifi. we want to only disable the access point capabilities.
any hardcore guru's out there have some advise?

Enabling sharing services requires administrative access, so one option is to set this and only give folks standard "managed" access. The Internet Sharing service is a process called "InternetSharing" that runs as the root user and establishes all the appropriate services for the needed connection. You could technically remove or even rename this process on systems to prevent it from being used, or remove or disable its launch daemon. These files are in the following directories:
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.InternetSharing.plist
/usr/libexec/InternetSharing

I don't know how you Micro-shunts manage to do it, but ever since the forced migration to the Micro-shunt version of the Skype client, it is getting prgressively worse with every iteration. I was never plagued by spam, never bothered by block-avoiding boojums. Since allowing the current horror onto my Mac, I get over a dozen complete randoms -- all of them with dubious female names from far-away lands -- with contact requests per week, and in the space of the six hours I mistakenly had my mobile phone on my profile, I received four spam SMSes, all of which I was charged to receive. I soon put a block on those so-called premium SMS services. So far, Microsoft, you have taken away much of what makde Skype, and given nothing but frustration (and windows three times larger but holding a quarter of the information) since you took over. Now, please tell me, dear Micro-machines, how the BLEEDIN' 'ECK do I turn off ALL my private information that you are currently putting up on public display? I DO NOT want to be searchable. I DO NOT want to be pestered. Please restore the option for this. The paid offer of a VPN to the Chinese MSN network is looking more appealing by the day, and I'd rather spend money so I don't get hassled than put up with the torture of the past three months.

I am a PC, so this is how I would accomplish your goal (I recommend performing these procedures via a computer rather than a mobile device):
Access your profile from your account (where the Contact list is), and you should be able to remove all information which defaults to public view, leaving the choices as "blank" or "not specified."
Check your privacy settings to ensure they indicate you receive audio calls, video calls, and private messages from people on your contact list only. Remember to Save your changes.
You must contact Skype Customer Service to request your account name be removed from the search directory. Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service As you know you wish to contact Customer Service, skip past Step 2 of the instruction where you will see various FAQ articles and other information to review and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request. I find it easier to sign on to the Skype website and then go through the contacting Customer Service routine.
I still receive random, occasional, unsolicited contact invitation requests, however far fewer than previously.

How can I disable web/data access during certain hours?

I have added a feature to my wireless account restricting my daughter's text/data/surfing access during evening hours. I thought I was pretty clever and assumed she would only have access to her music on her iPhone. Turns out she can still access all she wants using our home WIFI so my sceme is rendered useless. Other than confiscating her phone each evening, does anyone know how I can restrict wifi on her phone during certain hours?
Also, does anyone have a nano? Thinking she could use that for music and to set her alarm, but I don't think the nano has an alarm function.

No way to restrict it during certain hours. You can restrict it always, or never. Parental supervision is one solution. It's a losing battle to try to outwit children. It's better to require trust, with consequences if trust is breached.

How can I disable last file re-open in Lion

After using Lion for several weeks, I find I am growing irritated over every program re-opening the last file(s) used. It is slowing down my workflow and wasting my time while I close then open the file/web page I need. Sometimes it opens to a file letting others see files/images/web pages I would rather they not see. Other times it loads from a backup location not intended as the work file. Is there any way to disable this annoying feature?

This is a pot-boiler config file... Copy it into some file say "props.conf" and use it.

Opening a local, disk resident HTML file in Firefox places a lock on it. When I try to delete it before closing it in Firefox, I get an "Access denied..." message.

A couple of other possibilities:
The CD is dirty / damaged / suffering from "CD Rot" - sometimes CDs may seem to play fine on a CD player (or using the CD-player function of a PC) but will not transfer correctly to a computer - this is the result of the way that CD players auto-correct the datastream from the CD where PCs, when reading the audio CD as data, do not.
Enabling the error correction function in iTunes import may alleviate if not fully resolve this
Use an alternate tool to extract the audio from the CD - Exact Audio Copy is probably the best out there, as it can be configured to attempt multiple reads of every audio sample on a CD to get a consistent result. Then import the resulting files into iTunes.
You don't say whether this is specific to one CD as in the original poster's case, but the "crackling" symptom has affected a significant number of users of the 64-bit version of iTunes 12.1.0.71 - these are mostly addressed in the most recent update (12.1.1.4), but if nothing else works it may be worth trying this alternative installer: iTunes 12.1.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)

Ahh, but that's the design function of any PDF viewer add-on to a browser.
To avoid -- Use the browser feature that saves a file to the local machine.
Then open the file with the appropriate application.
If your machine/device does not support this then you'd want to change to one that supports what you want eh.

easiest way is to contact your network operator and ask them to disable your data plan and all internet access on your device. there are also a few miscellaneous settings in your phone, so you can try deleting access points if they are displayed in the Settings. i would check the phone Settings menu and the Web browser settings for items that you can turn off / disable.
