How can I divorce my nan's IPad from my Netbook?

My 89-year old grandmother has an IPad 1 and is a frequent user. But she does not use a PC. So, some months ago, I plugged it into my Netbook and did some 'backing up', meaning that the IPad thinks that my ITunes account is it's 'home'. Now she has tried to update a load of apps, and is being told that she can't connected to the internet (her own home wireless broadband) until the IPad is reunited with my Netbook. Trouble is, I live 100 miles away and she needs to use the IPad for internet browsing now. Is there anyway I can instruct her over the phone how to get her IPad dump the memory of my Netbook and get back on line?? I'd much appreciate any suggestions!

If she was able to update the apps, then she had to be connected to the Internet. That's how it works when you update direct.y on the device. The apps are updated via her Internet connection, so it was working - at least at that point.
The iTunes app cannot be updated unless it comes via an iOS update. All of the pre installed apps can only be updated when the iOS is updated. You cannot update Safari, the iTunes app, the Music app. The Mail app ....any of the pre installed apps unless you do it via an iOS update.
Now if she is trying to update the iOS in Settings>General>Software Update - that's a different story as well, but I have never seen anyone report that they got a "connect to iTunes" message if they had a problem with the over the air update.
iTunes on the computer can be updated but I can't think of any reason why she would get this message on the iPad, so I think that we are still missing something in the explanation. We need to pin down the exact name of the app that is giving her this message.
I might be missing something very simple, but its just not coming to mind right now, with the information that she gave you.

    Photos can be transferred to an iPad via the iTunes sync process from a single computer only. When transferring photos from another computer via the iTunes sync process, all photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPad first.
    There is a free iDisk app available for the iPad via the iTunes store. If you transfer the photos to your iDisk, you can access the photos from your iDisk with the iDisk app, but you can't sync photos with your iDisk.
    There is also a free MobileMe Gallery app via the iTunes store you can use to view photos in your MobileMe Galleries.

    You can't fit 300 GB on an iPad.
    Are you sure they are 300 GB, I've never seen a file of that size, what type of files are they.

    No you do not need separate Apple ID's in order to use 3 devices with one Apple ID. I use 4 devices to Message and FaceTime and all use the same Apple ID. You do need to add additional email addresses for the other devices.

    you can do this by keeping the external hard drive connected and doing the following
    -hold shift key down on computer while opening iTunes and a prompt will appear to choose a library
    -select choose library, iTunes should bring up your explorer windows where you can search for the external HD
    -after you find the external HD find the iTunes folder you just copied to it
    -after opening the iTunes folder look for the file that says iTunes library.itl or if you can't see that extenstion just look for a document looking thing in the iTunes folder that shows up as a database file
    -double click the database file and boom iTunes should load your library without having to copy it to the computer
    PS: do make sure that if you are going to do it this way, make sure that the external HD is connected at all times, because if you don't then you will get exclamation marks next to your iTunes songs
    double PS: if you are unsure how to find out if the iTunes library file is a database file just right click it and choose properties and under the type it should say database file

    You can create an iTune and App Store account without credit card details
    1. Sign out of current Apple ID if you are sign-in to one (important)

    You don't. Mirroring is duplicating your ipad screen on another projector - so you can't have another app going on your iPad without it also showing up on the projected image. Some apps are designed so that you see a different image in the iPad than the mirrored out display, but even then you're within the app itself.

    DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.
