How can I doenload Firefox v4? My application doesn't support v5.0.

How do I download Firefox V4? My application doen no support v5.

Due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended.
If Firefox disabled some add-ons (especially extensions), it likely is because they include a list of compatible Firefox versions and haven't yet been updated for Firefox 5. If they worked on Firefox 4, there is a good chance they will work on Firefox 5.
You can force Firefox to ''ignore'' add-on version restrictions by (what else) installing an add-on. Then you can test whether the add-ons important to you actually work in Firefox 5.

  • Google Chrome killed Firefox. I uninstalled Chrome. How can I get Firefox back. Reinstalling doesn't do it.

I was using Firefox as my primary browser. After I installed Google Chrome, I could no longer open Firefox. It would appear to open, but immediately disappear. I reinstalled Firefox, but it did not solve the problem. I like Firefox; so I uninstalled Chrome. Now I cannot use either Chrome or Firefox. I simply get a blank window when I try to activate firefox. I have had to revert to IE in order to browse; however, I prefer Firefox. How do I resolve this problem?

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • How can I keep Firefox from saving my my last visited websites, even after I log out and Force Quit?

I quit and Force Quit Firefox when I log out of my MacBook Pro. Lately when I re-start Firefox, it has saved my last few visited websites and asks me if I'd like to restore these, or quit. How can I get Firefox to stop saving these sites and really quit?

hello, this is currently a problem in firefox when you first close all open firefox windows and then close the application afterwards - the bug should be addressed in a later version of firefox.
as a workaround in the meanwhile you could close firefox (through firefox > quit) while the browser window is still running or try this: enter about:config into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash'''. double-click it and change its value to '''false'''.

  • How can I prevent Firefox from re-installing test pilot?

I had removed the test pilot extension and its feedback button in Firefox 4.0b9. I let Firefox upgrade itself to 4.0b10 and didn't notice that silently re-installed it.
I was typing in another application when suddenly that window was minimized and the focus shifted to a Firefox "new test pilot study" window that popped up. Even if I had given permission for that software to be installed, that is rude.
I am not willing to trust that if I disable this logging software that it will stay disabled the next time I upgrade. I will remove test pilot again. '''How can I prevent Firefox from re-installing it?'''
One way might be to set extensions.rdf read-only. However, I do not wish to lose the ability to install add-ons, I merely do not want anybody (including Mozilla) to install an add-on without my permission.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=519357 doesn't seem to address this problem as test pilot is a known component. Its not a plug-in so I can't modify the plugin scanning settings to prevent it from being loaded. Is there some way I can reliably supplement http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/blocklist/ with a local block list file? If so, would I have to update that whenever a new version of test Pilot is released?

I'm not sure what you mean by "re-directs e-mails." Are the recipient addresses changing between the time you address the message and the time it is sent?
If you could provide more information I think that would help in tracking this down.
When you use Firefox to work with your webmail site, whether Yahoo! or Gmail or another, the mechanics of sending the mail are handled by the site itself. So if there is a problem with how messages are addressed, then you may need to check your Yahoo! mail settings.

  • How can I get Firefox to stop looking for uninstalled fonts?

Running Firefox 3.6.16 on MacBook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, OS X 10.6.7: Every time I quit and restart Firefox, it searches my iDisk and finds uninstalled fonts (some of which are actually installed--these are original font files I purchased stored there). What looks like an OS box pops up saying Firefox wants permission to use these uninstalled fonts (and even though I click don't ask again for Firefox, these boxes pop up on every restart). This does not happen on my desktop Mac. Short of deleting the files, how can I stop Firefox from searching for uninstalled fonts? Thanks,

    You can try this:
Move all User fonts in Font Book to Computer fonts:
    # Launch Font Book (/Applications/Utilities/)
    # Open Font Book > Preferences
    # Deselect: "Automatic Font Activation"
    # Set the "Default Install Location" for fonts to Computer
    # Select all User fonts.
    # Move the selected User fonts to Computer fonts
    # Remove all duplicate fonts in Computer fonts

  • How can I tweak firefox to use less of RAM?100MB+ is too much for my system.thanks

    Ok,
I have latest updated version of firefox.
I have hp510 laptop with 1 GB of RAM.
My problem is that firefox is really good but uses too much of RAM(100 MB or more) while in usage.
How can I tweak firefox to use less RAM, as my system gets hammered.
    Thank you.
    Danny

    thanks.
I opened my extensions, and all are disabled, except ADBLOCK.
I usually clean my history on weekly basis, sometimes even on daily basis.
When I use firefox, most of the time ther is no other application in use by me (I don't encounter all those back apps for the system).
Most of the time, I have only 2 windows open , very rare there more.
The issue is that even at starting of firefox session I can see in task manager there is minimum 95 MB or charge, without any work done by me.
I usually have charge about 370-390 MB of RAM, but when I open Firefox it gets me up to 500 or more.

  • How can I get firefox to execute perl scripts from local files

I have created perl scripts on my local host (file type ".pl").
In MS Windows I have associated that type to a perl interpreter installed on my local host.
IE allows me to create links to them and to execute them (after asking for permission).
How can I get firefox to do the same? It doesn't seem to allow me to add application types, only to change those that are already defined. As a result, in firefox, they just show up as text, instead of being executed.

First guess is that you did not use an .html extension on the file. The file may well be ''name.html.txt''

  • How can I open Firefox 3.6.15 in non-administrator profiles?

When I installed Firefox 3.6.15, the previous version (3.6.13) opened in non-administrator profiles on my computer. I uninstalled 3.6.13, but firefox.exe is now in a different location: c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Mozilla Firefox. Administrator rights are required to open the file in this location. How can I get Firefox to open now?

Firefox installs to C:\Program Files\Mozilla\Firefox by default.

  • How can I prevent Firefox from checking whether Adobe Flash is up to date?

I just updated Flash a week ago and already Firefox is prompting me to replace the update with the message "Firefox has prevented the outdated plugin Adobe Flash from running on" (etc.) How can I prevent Firefox (I'm using version 35.0.1) from running this check forever?

"Add-ons" is a mis-leading term, regarding what appears in the Add-ons Manager tab. "Addons" includes Extensions, Search Engines, Themes (Appearance), User Scripts, Styles, and Services - all of which the "Updates" can be controlled by Firefox preferences. "Plugins" are shown in the AOM too, but unlike the others, Firefox has no control over updates for Plugins. As James mentioned, Plugins aren't installed within Firefox as the other categories of "Add-Ons" are - and updates are controlled by the application that installed the Plugin that Firefox uses from each application's own set of folders or wherever in Windows files the Plugin is placed by the installer.
IMO, the biggest problem with Flash is that it is set by default to only look for an update once a month. So when Adobe updates Flash multiple times a month (3 "updates" in January alone) the Flash updater can'r catch each update as it occurs, or even within an acceptable "window of time". A user might "fall behind" as many as 3 new version releases quite easily.
As far as clicking to "Allow" each video when you're behind a version or two with Flash, at least Mozilla does a "soft block" and permits you to "Allow" - a "hard block" would make it impossible to use Flash at all. And "yes". Mozilla ''can do" a "hard block" when necessary.
In conclusion, Flash is a dying technology, which deserves to be buried. It is too "exploitable" by the "bad guys". All the recent "updates" are for security patches for fixing "holes" in Flash and stability fixes to an old application that "has seen better days" (like 10 years ago).
HTML5 Video looks like the future. Use it where you can, like at YouTube which gives you a choice for many videos they host - but you you need to enable that feature in Google preferences or all you're liable got get is Flash videos. With other websites, their users need to tell them that they want HTML5 videos only.

  • How can I uninstall firefox 36 from my computer

How do I uninstall Firefox 36

Quit the application. Drag the icon in the Applications folder into the Trash, then Empty the Trash.
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper
        2. AppDelete
        3. Automaton
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller
      10. Spring Cleaning

How can I update Firefox on my MacBook Pro?

To which version do you want to update?
To the latest Firefox 3.6.11 version?
Did you try via Help > Check for Updates?
If that doesn't work then do this:
    * Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re)install.
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded.

    Either of these should help.

Or search 'disk size' in the App Store.
Be carefull with what you delete & have a backup BEFORE you start, you may also want to reboot to try to free any memory that may have been written to disk.

  • How can I unintstall Firefox 7 and go back to 6?

I have downloaded Firefox 7 because it said to upgrade. Well and good, but now my Norton Security Safe (Norton Toolbar) which has all my passwords no longer works. How can I get this back? It doesn't show up at all and I am having to check in to all my places manually. Pure pain. If there is no fix how do I uninstall 7 and get back to 6? I am not a geek so please do this simply.

I did run a Norton Live update. I had the Firefox 6.0 version and it wanted to install the 7.0 update which does not support the Norton Identity Safe or toolbar. After restarting the computer, I now go to check for updates in Firefox and it states that I have the latest version of Firefox, which it says is 6.0. What happened to 7.0 and why can Norton not keep up with these things? I got a bad live update(Error# 8920223) with Norton last night that wanted me to uninstall NIS 2012 and later found out that Norton had severe problems with its update servers, and they said just to do nothing and wait up to a day. Mine came back in minutes, but Norton originally told me to uninstall everything immediately. Avast is sounding very good right now...

    Gorgeous Hello All,
If anyone of you can please provide me a solution for the following, will help me in plentious and galore.
Am using Adobe RoboHelp, Version 10 and IE version being 10.
    A hurdle :-
I have a application which has been developed in ASP .NET, Version 4.0. Help link has been created in this application wherein here the Start up page of index.htm has been linked to be read from the RoboHelp local project folder\!SSL!\Multiscreen_HTML5\desktop. All are working absolutely fine except when
I login into the above-said application -> click on the Help page -> the index.htm opens with Contents, Index, Glossary -> Am able to successfully perform any task by respective clickings
-> But I am not able to get back into my application when I click on the IE provided Back button (Alt+Left) -> Any amount of invoking Back button makes the system getting looped into this Start up page of index.htm only -> When I Close Tab (Ctrl + W) or Close ( X ) -> The window session gets closed and I have to repeat all by relogin once again.
How can I get back into my application aftermath invoking Start up page of index.htm ?
(I can always get back into the application easily by erasing those parts in the url which refers to this RoboHelp linkages – but this certainly looks non-polished work)

It's not a good idea to allow websites to redirect to another site until you know for sure the original site is trustworthy.
But if you still want to do it (again not a good idea).
Tools>Options>Advanced>General - In Accessibility, uncheck "warn me when web sites try to redirect..." option.
