So if I get this right you want to download a podcast in iTunes and then sync that to your iPod that is already set up to sync with your computer at home correct?
If so, you will have to enable the "manually manage music and videos" option from under your iPod's Summary tab in iTunes on your computer at home. Basically, this option will allow you to sync content from multiple computers to your one iPod. For more help and information regarding syncing your iPod with multiple computers, see this Apple support document.

Once you have enabled that option, simply download the required podcast on your work machine, and then drag it to your iPod in iTunes. Here is more information regarding manually managing your iPod's contents as well.

When I subscribe to a podcast, only the first episode downloads (in spite of my default settings, etc.). Now I have to manually click on each little "cloud/arrow"
icon and download them individually. Before apple developers took stupid pills and created this latest version of Itunes (that everyone hates), I could easily download all episodes at the click of one button (I mean DOWNLOAD, not just LIST all episodes, which is all it will do now when you request all episodes).

It seems to work for me. Select the entire podcast, or specific episodes from a podcast or podcasts. Right-click on the selected items and choose New Playlist from Selection.
iTunes 11.x may hide the sidebar (along the left side of window). It looks and works differently from earlier versions (before iTunes 11), when the sidebar is hidden. I've had the same exact issue on my iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1.0.
I tried downloading The Nerdist with Tina Fey this morning, and I got the unresponsive iTunes. I could still scroll up and down, but the "FREE" buttons weren't fully formed. Couldn't click them.

Delete the app from your device. Restart your device once or twice. After that, the device will realize you want to manage your podcasts using iTunes and will let you manage them from iTunes again.

Can you start Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
You can also do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.
