I'm trying to download an msi file which is the edge jewelry store software. I have already installed microsoft word but still it would not let me download it.

The MSI file is only for Windows. If they have a Mac compatible version, it should be a zip or .dmg file.
Otherwise, you need to virtualize Windows (link explains how).
If they do have a dmg, click on it, and look in your download folder for a .dmg file. Double click it. On your desktop should appear an icon that looks like an white floppy drive with the name of it. Double click that icon, inside should either be an installer or a folder. If a folder, drag it into the hard drive -> Applications folder. If an installer, double click the installer.

Which version of Design Standard are you asking about? I don't think any Creative Suite packages existed in 1993. I think the first CS came out in 2003.

When you start up Handbrake, you will need to identify the source that you are copying. I assume you have an Optical drive by which you can read the DVD. If you just need a copy of the software, then download the trial copy of Lr available from Adobe. On entering your serial number it will then become a full copy.
