  • I have an older G5 tower Power PC and the OS 10.5.8, but the firefox and safari browers are no longer supporting this computer. How can I download an older version that works with this computer?

I have an older G5 tower Power PC and the OS 10.5.8, but the firefox and safari browers are no longer supporting this computer. How can I download an older version that works with this computer?
Or what is the newest OS system I can load onto this computer?
I think it is from 2006

    Hello,
10.5.8 is the highest OSX it can run.
TenFourFox is the most up to date browser for our PPCs, they even have G4 & G5 optimized versions...
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
I'd avoid vesrion 24 though, as it no longer supports plug-ins like Flash.
SeaMonkey seems pretty fast also, with many options...

Might also look into iCab & OmniWeb versions.

  • I had an old version of firefox & it made me upgrade to a newer version, however once I upgraded it said it does not work with my Mac that is a OS 10.4 & not I cannot access or download firefox, how can I download a older version for my Mac?

I had firefox on my computer and it made me download the newer version, but once I downloaded it, it said it does not work on my computer which is a Mac OS 10.4 and now I cannot use firefox at all on my computer. How do I download an older version that will work on my computer?

As of Firefox 4.0 and newer one needs at least OSX 10.5+ and Intel hardware.
The latest you can use on your Intel with OSX 10.4.11 is Firefox 3.6.25 (released recently) which can be found at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
If you were to update to say OSX 10.5.8 then you can use Firefox 9.0.1

  • How can I download an older version of kindle for my iPad 1? Hellllpppp.

Arrrrrrrgh. How can I download an older ver of kindle for my iPad 1.  It's not in my cloud (as I never used it before) and the current version needs ios6 to work. iPad 1 can only go to ios5...  Same for iBooks .....

For iBooks try downloading the current version on your computer's iTunes so that the app is in your purchase history. Then on your iPad go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app and see if you can download an older compatible version of it.
You can also try similar for the Kindle app - I don't know whether Amazon have made older versions of their app available in the store, so it may not work for that. If not, then as a work-around you could use their cloud reader 'app' : http://read.amazon.com - go to that site on Safari on your iPad and then create a homescreen shortcut for it (kindle cloud reader help)

  • I am using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 (a speech recognition software) to navigate through Firefox, but ever since I downloaded the newest version of Firefox how can I download some older versions?

ever since I downloaded the newest version of Firefox, my Dragon NaturallySpeaking hasn't been working very well. For example, I will say "click register" or "click contact us" to select links and buttons on websites. Before this worked fine, but now it hardly works at all, which makes me think that because I am using a Dragon NaturallySpeaking program from 2007 or 2008, that it just doesn't know how to handle a program like Mozilla Firefox six that was written after its time. Or maybe it's the operating system? I was running an older version of Mozilla on Windows XP and now I am on Microsoft's seven.
What I want to try is to download an older version of Mozilla Firefox to see if the problems go away. I don't know if that would mean I would use Mozilla five or four, but I would like to try both. How can I do this, when I go to the website it says "you have the most updated version" and will let me access in the winter versions click post question that post question

  • How can I download an older version of Safari (5.0.5 or lower)?

To run software with an AP French textbook, I have to download an older version of Safari.  5.0.5 is the newest version I could use.  How can I find an appropriate version to download?  This is to use www.successnetplus.com with Allons au dela.

    Hi Katy
    http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20110722154439693
                                       or
    http://www.macworld.com/article/161367/2011/07/revert_safari.html
    but download 5.0.5
which is  forcing the install using Pacifist from http://charlessoft.com/
                                           or
    (re)install the 10.6.8 1.1 combo (1+ GB) which does overwrite safari 5.1 with 5.0.5
    followed by checking software update
the first is quickest, but requires using Terminal
another browser is easiest if you can find something suitable, since you'll retain the latest safari.

  • How can I download an older version of Firefox before 3.6

I am trying to do transcription from a website. I did one file before my typing stopped showing up in the "box." I emailed the company and they suggested downloading an older version than 3.6. ('Doesn't make sense to me, but I guess I had better try what they advise before complaining any more to them.) I can't find instructions to download '''pre'''-3.6 version.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

  • How can I download an older version of iBooks?

I want to use iBooks on my (old) 2nd gen ipod touch. I bought a book for it. When I try to download, of course, the latest version is not compatible...but it asks me if I want to download an older version. I say yes. The greyed-out icon appears, "waiting" to download...and then disappears. Nothing.
I have tried both installing iBooks from app store on my ipod touch and also clicking "install" in the apps section of my ipod from my computer's itunes store. Didn't work.
Anyone know what I can do, please?

  • How can i download an older version of garageband and iMovie?

I have my MacBook updated to the latest version it can be. OS X 10.7.5 I want to download iMovie and garageband but i can't since I need a newer software version. Is there a way to download an older version of the 2 apps?

What you wish to do can't currently be done in the Mac App Store. There are rumors older versions may be available in the future.

  • How can i download an older version of pages for late 2007 macbook running osx lion

i would like to download an older version of the pages for late 2007 macbook running osx lion

If you previously bought Pages from the Mac App Store, click here and follow the instructions, or go to the Mac App Store main page, click on Support under Quick Links, contact Apple, and see what they say.
If not, buy an iWork 09 DVD from a source such as Amazon or eBay.

  • How can I download an older version of an app?

    *sigh* Okay. Let me begin.
So I have the iPod Touch 2nd generation, whose firmware is 4.2.1. It won't update any further than that. Since basically every app in the iTunes Store is only for iOS5 or 6, I can't download any more apps.
I had a few apps from when my firmware was actually acceptable and have kept them since. But today I did a restore (I backed it up, too!) but it somehow updated all my apps to the most recent versions which are not compatible with my iPod. I don't know where the old ones went. Not in the trash. Nowhere to be found.
I think for Words With Friends, my iPod can handle version 5.30 and nothing newer. But I tried to download it off a few different websites and iTunes is giving me syncing errors. I think I need to download it directly from the company (through the App Store or something which only offers the most recent: 6.01 or something similar).
But I don't know how to do this. Any suggestions?
I am a very disappointed Apple user. I'm beyond frustrated with this. Same flipping thing with my Apple computer. Bought it a few years ago and can't download anything on it anymore since the programs don't support my operating system.

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

  • How can I download an older version of Firefox that got deleted but was compatible with the PC Mac Version 10.4.11

I have the 1.5 Ghz PowerPC G4 Mac OS X version 10.4.11 and I inadvertently deleted the old Firefox browser when I download Firefox 4. The original download did not recognize the limitations of the system's inability to support Firefox 4.

  • How can I get the older versions of iWorks ('13 the ones that came with Mavericks) now that I've purchased a new iMac with Yosemite?

It just hit me the other day (when my New Mac was on its way) that it would ship with Yosemite and of course ONLY the newest versions of iWorks. This machine is for a person in our business office and she should not have a different version of Pages and Numbers than everyone else in the company. (we upgrade those apps all together so exchanged files can be opened by everyone). I understand the Migration Assistant will only keep the newer versions when Applications is selected in the process and the App Store will not let me get the older version. This machine must have the older (Mavericks) versions of those applications so I'm considering partitioning and installing Mavericks even though it would bork my support. Is there any other way to install those versions on Yosemite?  Thanks!

Thanks for the response. I understand and we Don't have volume licenses. All the apps we download are from our single school admin account. Would it still be piracy if I copied them from her old machine to her new one (both being company machines)
If not, Is there any way to accomplish what I trying to do with compliance? Purchase the apps from somewhere?

  • How can I buy an older version of iwork for my macbook?

I am thinking about buying a new macbook pro as my current macbook is approaching 7 years ol.  I replace the hard drive in January to 640gb and upgraded the ram to maximum possible of 4ghz.  I was running an old version of MS Office for Mac 2004 which was not great and I figured i would try using the mac versions before spending nearly £2k on a new machine.  But I can't seem to buy it on the store because I apparently need to have OSx 1.7 or higher and I am running 10.6.  Any ideas?

Upgrade Office to Office 2011 for OS X. You can download a trial at www.mactopia.com. Old versions of iWork boxed sets can be found searching Amazon, eBay, or Google.
Office 2004 and Other Applications Don't Work in Lion/Mountain Lion
If you have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite, it will not work in Lion/Mountain Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
As for other software, any PPC-based software will not run in Lion or Mountain Lion because Rosetta is no longer part of OS X. You will need to upgrade to Intel versions of the software.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)
