Usually, to copy photos from most phones, you either use a USB cable and connect the phone in USB Mass Storage (or disk) mode if the phone supports it. Then just drag and drop files from the phone disk that appears on the Mac desktop. Alternatively, if the phone has Bluetooth capability you send photos via Bluetooth using the File Manager of the phone (consult your phone manual on how exactly to do this), or using the "Bluetooth File Exchange" application on your Mac. First, are you positive it is really not there? Have you looked in your iTunes folder in your Music folder, and in the media folders there? Do you see your media files?
If your media are gone it is a lot easier to restore from a proper computer backup. Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

Without office installer dvd: visit office.microsoft.com, go to Store, and then select Office Products. Download/purchase what you need.

I am assumming these DVDs are your own personal property and are NOT rented or borrowed DVDs.
Once again, assuming that you own these DVDs, I recommend using Mac DVDRipper Pro to extract the content from your PERSONAL DVDs. I have it installed on my computer and it rips DVD's at maximum speed and uses very little processing power.

You have two options:
1. If you have another Mac or PC, use Remote Disc to install it on your Mac > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5287
2. Buy an external optical drive and use it to install Microsoft Office.
Both options work correctly. If you are going to use the optical drive once, use Remote Disc, but it will be much slower than using an optical drive connected to the computer

You are supposed to send the Time Machine backups to another drive. Yes, you can send them to an external drive.
The reason to send all backups to other drives is because you will then have the backup to restore your data after repair. If the backups is on the same disk as your system or data and the disk dies, you have no way to recover anything.

ALWAYS sync photos to a computer, don't count on icloud to store them for you. It does include photos from the camera roll in a backup, but that's all - and restores are not reliable when it comes to photos.

Since you should always be syncing photos to your computer as you would photos from a camera, then sync from iphone to itunes/computer, then sync from itunes/computer to ipad.

If you are asking if you can use the iMac instead of the PowerBook to conenct the iPhone, see the other Allan's answer.
If you are asking if the version of 10.5 that came on your iMac can be installed on your PowerBook, the answer is no.

I have Mac OS 10.4.11. My Mac Laptop Pro has a new hard drive and has been completely refurbished by Apple. However ever since, I have not been able to obtain the correct Firefox. Prior to the replacement of my hardrive, I had Firefox and used it for many years. Not being able to download the correct Firefox is frustrating. Firefox 4 will NOT work on Mac OS 10.4.11. But every time I click on a download of 3.5 or 3.6 the download turns out to be Firefox 4. I cannot use Firefox 4, do not want Firefox 4 but it keeps trying to plant itself on my computer even though it will NOT work on my computer. YIKES!!!!
