How can I easily move songs to somewhere outside of my iTunes library?
I have a ton of songs that I've had in my iTunes library for several years but never listen to. I'd like to move them out of my library and archive them onto a separate hard drive. The current iTunes version won't let me drag them out of the iTunes window and onto Finder.
Is there an easy way to do this? Ideally I could search for songs and remove & archive them that way.

To move entire projects export them as Aperture Libraries, and then import those Libraries into the other Aperture Library:
Select the Project in the Inspector, then
File -> Export -> Project as Library
In the other Library do:
File -> Import -> Library/ Project
But I am not quite convinced, that the size of your current Aperture Library is responsible for the slowness of Aperture - Aperture is designed to cope with huge libraries.
You may want to post your hardware setup and details of your library, and some of the hardware experts here may help you to find the reason for the slowness.
A huge library should only be a problem, if the projects are too big, and if you have many, many smart albums at the root level of your library.
So keep the projects small, and try to move some of your smart albums to lower levels in your folder structure (then Aperture does not need to scan all of your images to build the smart album).
Other reasons for Aperture's slowness may be, e.g.
An overfull system drive and/or external drive (keep at least 20% of your drives empty)
lack of RAM
a corrupted Aperture Library, that needs repairing
Have you checked those options, before you split your library? It would be a pity to split it, for you would loose the ability to browse all parts at the same time, to use all your images in the Media Browser, etc.

i'm retiring my old computer (with windows xp) and bought a new computer (with windows 7). How can i easily move my itunes music from the old computer to the new computer? i have my playlists organized in my old computer, i would like it to stay that way in my new computer. I also have my ipods, iphone sync'd in the old computer so i want to make sure that things won't get messed up (my apps, playlists, etc) when i move over everything to the new computer and sync all my devices with the new computer.

Install itunes on the new W7 PC.
Get these folders from the XP machine
C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes
C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
And put them here on the W7 machine
C:\users\username\My Music\iTunes
C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\ -

You can't, you can only buy from your own country's store - to be able to buy from another country you will need to be in that country and have a valid billing address, and iTunes account. in that country. It does not matter where the songs came from, they are not yours and the previous owner does not own the right to distribute them to others.

The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back. -
