How can I edit text in a tagged PDF?

I have created an accessible test form in Acrobat Pro X.  Now that it has all been tagged and reading order touched up, the client wants to change the text.  Is there any way to edit text at this point or do I have to create an entirely new tagged accessible form (very time consuming)?
I have tried:
TouchUp Reading order - when I select the block of text, nothing lights up on the TouchUp window
Form > Edit Document Text - I can place a cursor but it won't do anything.
Thank you for any help!

For Tagged PDF the replace page approach ought to be avoided.
The behavior seen when replace page is used for an existing page having annotations is not present.
Insert of a tagged PDF into another PDF can be a problem as well. The "incoming" structure tree is always placed at the end of the existing structure tree.
Manually remediating this can become nasty very quickly.
Using the Touchup / Edit text tool on a 'good' tagged PDF ought to be avoided as well.
Be well...

  • How can I edit text tabs in Photoshop...?

how can I edit text tabs in Photoshop like in Illustrator that I can choose to view the tab rulers and edit the alignment on the tabs?
is it possible? otherwise I can't understand why I can use the tabs at all...
    thanks!

No, tab-formatted text is not editable in the manner you desire. As for your question - tab is just a character like any other. You are simply taking a given kind of implementation for granted, nothing more, but that must not necessarily be the case for all programs. An evil programmer just could assign the tab key to forward delete or any other fancy function just as he could make your space key draw funky symbols from a different Unicode range, if you get my meaning... so simply take it the way it is. If editable formatting is high on your wishlist:

  • How can I edit texts in ipad letter by letter.

I frequently write in Spanish and English, i have to change the keyboard from one language to the other but when i forget i get unexpected results. I decided to disable the automatic spelling correction. But there is still a problem. I sometimes miss a single letter to correct in a word but ipad forces me to rewrite the whole word again, or to use the delete key to delete all the letters until i get to the one I need to correct. How can I edit letters from inside a word without the need to rewrite the whole word. Does ipad support this?
    Thanks for your comments.

Yes.  You can tap near the letter you want to edit to place the cursor near by.
For more accurate selection if you hold down where you want to edit a small magnifiying glass should appear. You can use that to move the insertion pointer to wherever you want to edit.

  • How can I edit text labels in a numeric display?

I have this numeric display, type U16, that displays specific messages, for example 'PASS' when the input is 1. I need to add another message.
I added a placeholder, for input = 3 (verified by the digital display) for the new message by rightclicking/'Add After' but I'm not able to add the new message. I can't edit the text (can't select it) for the existing messages either so I know I'm on the wrong track.
The G programming reference for LV 5.1 (page 9-17) says to use the labeling tool so I tried the 'Edit Text' tool on the tools palette. Is there another labeling tool? Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Jeff,
It sounds to me as if your U16 ring control is, or is linked to, a typdef (Type Definition), which LabVIEW programmers can employ to impose sharp constraints on the way a control looks or behaves. This would explain why you can't edit the text items, or add one. The bit about adding an item for '3' is confusing, but maybe it has to do with the ring being set to allow undefined values.
I can't recall how to manage these things under LabVIEW 5.1, but in 7.x, I would right-click on the control and see if "Open Type Def" was one of my options; if so, this diagnosis is correct, and you can make your changes only be editing the actual type def. The changes would then automatically be applied to any other control or indicator that is linked to the same type def, which is a very powerful programming technique.
Your best move might be to read up on Type Definitions in your LabVIEW User Manual, or in Application Note 159, and then proceed.
    Hope this helps,
    John

  • How can I edit text in a copy of a document on my home PC?

A document created in Acrobat XI Std is on the server in the office.  I had the document emailed to me which I downloaded to my home PC.
I cannot edit existing text or images in the downloaded document.
I can do the following to the downloaded document:
Add new text boxes and images
Delete existing text boxes and images
Move existing text boxes and images within the document
Copy existing text boxes and images from the downloaded document and paste them into another document
Edit new text boxes and images that I've added to the document.
Both the office server and my home PC are running Windows and Acrobat XI Standard.
I've checked security and protection.  These do not apear to be a problem but I'm not absolutely certain.
Why am I unable to edit existing text and images in the downloaded document?
How can i remedy this problem?
PS.  The reverse is true also.  The office cannot edit text and images that I've added to the document.

    Hi Bill@VT,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.  I caught the flu.
I just went to work for this company.  The company has been creating and maintaining these documents with Acrobat for may years.
I live 75 miles from the office.  The company has agreed that I can work from home.
The first attempt at this was emailing PDF documents back and forth.
I may need access to the company network via a VPN.
I have a lot experience doing these types of documents with MS Word and MS PowerPoint.  Then creating a PDF document from the docx and pptx..
The company wants to continue creating and maintaining the documents in Acrobat because everyone in the office knows how to do it.
So at this time I'll try to use  Acrobat.
Thank you for all your help.

  • How can i edit text on a pdf document on acrobat i professional

can anyone please help me, I've got acrobat 8 professional and i'm trying to edit text, can i do it and how can I do it?

You wrote: I have tried creating the background image as a pdf . . .
The whole thing is already a PDF.
What application are you using to try and make changes?
Are you now using InDesign to recreate the gift voucher?
Or are you opening the Photoshop PDF and trying to resize the live text layers?
There shouldn't be any issue with making 120 pt text. I just created a 250 pt text layer in PS as a test.
Have you enlarged the text box? If the text box isn't that big. making the text larger make cause it to overset and no longer be visible.
Grab the corner of the text box and drag it to enlarge it.
If things aren't working correctly, it would be faster to recreate the gift voucher in InDesign.
You mentioned having the background image, just add the text are you are ready to print.
After rereading your last post it is unclear who will be adding the text for the money amount.
Are you adding this yourself before printing, or are you hoping to give a PDF to the client where he can add/change the money amount?
Things like this need to be mentioned upfront.

  • How can I edit text without alignment problems ?

One day after I wrote a paragraph of text and saved it  I am unable to  edit it.
When I place my "T" text cursor in the appropriate or designated line of text there seems to be
a misalignment and consequently the left and right arrows are unreponsive.
Also when I highlight the line of text I want to work with as soon as I place the text icon
over that line and click the software creates another layer instead of remaining in the layer
    I've specified.
    Help.

I'm unable to make the text in a given layer active.ie when I drag the "T" icon to the desires position and click the txt does not respond/is not active as it should be,instead of seeing all the text with underlines it remains in active. Not alterable. If I type a letter it doesn't align.
I also noticed that the layer in question in the layers palette is represented by a checkered icon rather than by a "T" on a white backround.../
    the way text normally is.
HOW CAN I CHANGE THE CHECKERED LAYER BACK TO A TEXT LAYER AND THUS GAIN ACCESS AGAIN ?
    Thank you.

  • How can I edit text in pdf?

newbie here to editing text in a pdf. I make a document in InDesign and exported it into a pdf. I tried to change the text in the pdf, using the touch up tool but it won't let me change it. What am I doing wrong?

That depends on what type of edits you want to do.
You can use the touchup text tool to make some changes to text (this assumes that the person on the other end has the exact same fonts installed). The touchup object tool can be used to remove images...Have them look under the "tools" menu to see what is available. Different ones are there depending on their version of Acrobat.
Why are you having them make edits (just asking to see if there is a better way of doing this because really, you don't want to go down this road)?
Do they really need to make edits or are they just marking up changes they want done in the document so you can do them? If that's the case, have them use the comment tools.
There are way too many things to go wrong when you start editing PDF's. They really should be considered simply a digital piece of paper and nothing more.

  • How can I edit the email on a PDF form that's not created by me?

I'm a beginner for Acrobat Pro and there is an email button on the form for user to email to the previous admin, how can I change the email addres to mine? When I try to edit on forms, it asked me to click "save a copy", I really can edit and changed to email address, however when I tested it, it said this is only a data but not a form.

Better yet, edit the original source document, create a new PDF, and replace the old pages with the new: Tools > Pages > Replace

  • In Elements 9 How can I edit text?

I've created a book cover with several layers. I need to insert a space in the title, but when I click on that text the edit box layer on the right jumps out of that text box into another layer. IS THERE A WAY TO GET TO THAT TEXT ANYMORE?!
    Many many thanks!

Thank you for your amswer. Maybe I have a bad version of Photoshop Elements 9. I tried this OVER AND OVER. When I put the hand tool on the text I could move it, but then when I tried to insert a space it WOULD NOT WORK. Wouldn't work in ANY tool. And putting it back on the text tool made it jump to a different layer. It just WOULD NOT WORK. So after over an hour of futile trying I tried to create another cover.
I have to leave the title like it is. Couldn't alter it.  Didn't want to try. It's too complicated the way I did it to do it over. (I created a fading smoke background for the center word and that word's text is in white. I'll just leave it.) Don't know WHY in the WORLD it would be so difficult to insert a space between the layer with the 2 black words in before and after that middle word! But the only way I could get to that later was in the hand or move tool. I could move the text, but if I tried to insert a space it jumped to another layer for some strange reason.
So I opened another page to create a 2nd cover. Still couldn't insert a space in the title. Have to leave it I guess. But when on this 2nd try I tried pasting the text on the back cover IT WAS SOOO FRUSTRATING!  All that would paste was empty lines! I made sure the text font was black and the underscore off, but NO TEXT WOULD Paste! I even opened a new layer! Everything seemed to be working against me.

  • How can I edit a table in a pdf document?

I'm in data entry and I have to make reports that are generated in a pdf document. I use this program called PROMIS that I access through the internet to enter attendance among other things. At the end of each month I need to make a report of the attendance of that month and a blank report. The table that is generated in that blank report is the one that I wish to edit, make the columns and rows bigger to be more specific. Is there a way to edit the table in Acrobat Pro or another program? I tried to export the file as a Word document to edit it in Word but I get this error:
Acrobat was unable to make this document accessible because of the following error:
Bad PDF; error in processing fonts. <unsupported Type2 font> [1]
Please note that some pages of this document may have been changed. Because of this failure, you are advised to not save these changes.

  • How can I edit the contents of a pdf but keep my comments?

Im making PDF Maps from Illustrator and my maps are contantly updating, but the comments Ive made in previous versions need to stay the same. Is there any way I can do this?

provided you're not using layers and the map registers the same on the page, export the new one to a separate PDF file and then in the original use the Replace Pages function (right-click the page thumbnail). That will swap the underlying content but leave links, forms and comments alone.

  • How can I expand text fields in my PDF file which I built in Forms Central?

I'm working in Windows 7 and just created my first form in Forms Central. I have many text fields that I intended for the end user to be able to type as much information in them as necessary. I selected the "multiple lines of text" setting for each of these fields. I was told by someone at Adobe a while back when I was trying to decide on learning LiveCycle Designer or using the much more user-friendly Forms Central that the form fields would not automatically expand in the PDF form, but that I would be able to click or drag on the fields manually to expand them so that, ultimately, they could be printed with all the comments, for however many pages it would take. I've exported my Forms Central form to a PDF file. However, when I type multiple lines of text in the form fields I set up to be "unlimited," I cannot get the form fields to expand. What have I done wrong? Help, please!

We are dealing with a similar situation.  We have downloaded LiveCycle and created the form, but as we knew would happen, the changes that come for the content of the form are causing us to max our trial version, and as soon as the form needs a change outside of the trial time period, we are faced with the next dilemma, as Adobe doesn't offer to purchase a single license at a reasonable rate.  The only reason we wanted LiveCycle was for the dynamic field feature.  I plead with you to consider offering that feature in Forms Central.  The other issue that we are having is that our users sometimes need to paste a table into the expandable text field.  Is that even possible in Live Cycle?  We don't at this point need the web-based functioning that Live Cycle offers. Thank you.
