How can I eleminate yandex.ru, which appears as my browser whenever I open a new tab?
My homepage is google, and my browser is mozilla. But everytime I open a new tab the browser changes to yandex.ru. I can't seem to find where to eliminate it.
You have possibly inadvertently installed some software of malware that is causing this. If it is not visibly listed in your Firefox add-ons you may need to change your preferences and find and remove the software. The problem software may be listed as a program in your Vista OS listing and it may be easy to uninstall or it may be more problematic.
See
*[[cannot uninstall an add-on]]
* [[troubleshooting plugins]]

Post back with how you get on. If the problem turns out to be more malicious then have a look at this post [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/757994#answer-109685] for suggestions.

How can I set or reset the page that is loaded when I open a new tab using Ctrl t ?? by
I recently downloaded a program that has, as an undesired additional action, apprently setup Yahoo as the page that opens by default when I open a new tab using <Ctrl> <t> (or the <+> symbol on the tab bar). This is aggravating to me, particularly as I have not been able to find a way to stop it occurring.
I expect that it is buried somewhere in my profile, but I also have not found a way to explore or edit the contents of my profile.
There is a JScript script file called "user" in ...\profiles\4g4vpust.default that I suspect is associated with the behaviour, but renaming it achieved nothing.
Prior to this, my new tabs used to open as blank pages, i.e. did not load any URL and I was happy with that. How can I get back to that state?Did it add the freeze net assistant add-on? That add-on is known to do this. If you have that add-on you can uninstall it Firefox should revert to the default behavior.
If you do not have that add-on, another add-on will be causing this, you can use the procedure in the following link to identify what one - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes -
My default search engine is Google and I deleted Bing from the Search Providers. Facebook is set as my home page. Whenever I open a new tab, a Bing search box is displayed on the page and it takes the focus so when I am trying to type a URL in the new tab, it is entered in the damn bing search box. HOW DO I GET RID OF THAT ACCURSED BING
Swarnava, thank you very much! that did it and I am Bing-less . . . OH HAPPY DAY!! WOOHOO!!!! thank you, thank you, thank you!

Please tell how to do, that when I want to forward a message, a message opens in new tab, not in a new message window in thunderbird. Thanks.
Sorry, but at the moment 'Compose in a tab' isn't yet possible. You'll always get a new windows when composing or replying/forwarding a message.

This occurs after the main page is up but when I click on the tab bar beside where it says google to open a new window then the search engine becomes Yahoo.ca How can i correct this?

When i open a new tab it automatically goes to "http://www.bigseekpro.com/search/dns/anyvideo2dvd/{F8DC2913-2606-401B-8AED-0345AD711130}?q=bigseekpro.com/anyvideo2dvd/{F8DC2913-2606-401B-8AED-0345AD711130}?s_src=newta"
This started after i had installed a software recently. I have uninstalled that software now. I even set the opening page as 'Blank'. Also hit the 'restore to default' button.
But the problem still persists.
(it doesnt happen when i open firefox, happens only when i open a new tab, when firefox is already open)
How can i change it back to normal? I need only a blank page to open up.I have the same problem but I couldn't fix it with the way you mentioned.I have uninstalled the software which caused the problem even then i couldn't fix it.

How do I get Firefox to open my home page whenever I open a new tab?
I have Google as my home page. Rather than opening a new tab and getting a blank page, I'd like to open a new tab and get Google coming up. I'm fairly certain that this was possible in old Firefox, and would like to know if it is still possible and if so how!?! Thanks!
Firefox can have multiple home pages if you wish. Each home page that will open when starting Firefox is separated by the "|" character.
See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
To have new tabs open a specific web site, add one of the following extensions:

Can I set firefox to auto go to my homepage when i open a new tab
When I open a new tab I want it to show my homepage rather than a blank screen
You can do that by using an add-on such as:
* NewTabURL - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl
* New Tab Homepage - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage
Another way of opening the home page in a new tab is to middle click on the home button in the navigation toolbar. -
How do I remove Yahoo search and replace it with google when I open a new tab
I have tried everything that I can think of and every time I open a new tab, it opens in Yahoo search and not in google like it had before.
1. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
Turn those off and relaunch Safari again.
Turn those on one by one and test.
2. Use free AdwareMedic by clicking “Download ” from here
http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php
Install , open, and run it by clicking “Scan for Adware” button to remove adware.
Once done, quit AdwareMedic by clicking AdwareMedic in the menu bar and selecting
“Quit AdwareMedic”. -
This "Type Error: classes (cid) is undefined" or this "Type Error: Components (cid) is undefined keeps popping up in a small pop up box every time I open a tab or switch from Thunderbird to Firefox to open a site,
This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
* [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
* Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows) -
I'm using Windows2000.. Some of my key software is not compatible Windows XP or 7 therefore I don't intend to upgrade or change. I just want to get rid of that damn "URGENT !! " popup nag that appears every time I access Firefox. I'm sure there are others that have the same problem. Is there a solution?
You can disable or uninstall the Firefox Notification Hotfix 20120430.01 extension.

How can i set Safari to auto center my web browser everytime I open it?
Is there something I'm not seeing? It would be incredibly convenient to have safari start out dead center of the page.
1) From Safari's Bookmarks menu select "Add Bookmark Folder." A new "untitled folder" will appear in the left-hand side, highlighted and ready to be named.
2) You should already have separate bookmarks for each of your desired sites. Create them if you don't. Copy each of the desired bookmarks to the newly created folder.
3) Under Safari Preferences > General > "New windows open with:" select "Choose tabs folder..."
4) From the popup menu select the newly created folder and press Choose. -
If I have more than a single tab bar of tabs open whenever I open a new one the tab I'm currently on is shifted to the left of the bar 1 spot until it's the leftmost tab on the screen.
Is it possible to stop firefox from doing this as the movement of the tabs at the top of the screen is incredibly distracting?I don't have multiple tab bars and haven't installed anything to try and get them.
I re-read what I wrote earlier and realised it's not worded clearly when I said: If I have more than a single tab bar of tabs open
I meant: When I have so many tabs open that they won't all fit into the tab bar at once -
How do I get rid of Yahoo search from starting in the creation of a new tab?
my home page works correctly and I have removed the Yahoo tool bar from plugins/apps (can't remember which) But whenever I open a new tab it opens on this
http://search.yahoo.com/?fr=freeze&type=W3i_NA,132,3_6,Tab%20Search,20110520,16934,0,19,0
I would like it to open on my home page, which firefox does on startup. But I can't find a setting in options that will allow you to dictate what first appears when opening a new tab.
I tried this solution but it didn't work
https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/811550?s=getting+rid+of+yahoo+search&as=sDo you also have a search bar on your tabs bar if so, it is probably "New Tab" extension, but suggest going through all of the following.
'''Remove the Yahoo Toolbar'''
# "Ctrl+Shift+A" (Add-ons Manager)
# Select Puzzle piece on left-side for Extensions List
# Find "Yahoo Toolbar" and click on "Uninstall" button, and restart Firefox. ''(if you really need to keep the Yahoo toolbar, you can hide the toolbar instead with customize, and still change all the search defaults as below)''
'''Then to fix the default search engine''' used at the Location Bar, change the value of '''keyword.URL''' in '''about:config''' to one of the values shown in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Location_Bar_search#Location_Bar_search_.28external_-_search_engine.29 Location Bar search] at MozillaZine.
* Google Search (Google search results page)<br>'''http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q='''
# type in '''about:config''' into the location bar (in a new tab)
# if the warning message nonsense comes up ''uncheck'' the box '''before''' dismissing the dialog message
# '''filter on keyword'''
# right-click on '''keyword.URL''' and choose "modify" then paste in the Google search engine string of your choice.
# '''filter on defaulturl'''
# right-click on '''browser.search.defaulturl''' ''(if it exists)''and again choose "modify" then paste in the Google search engine string of your choice.
# '''filter on ytff'''
# right-click on '''yahoo.ytff.search.popup_src''' ''(if it exists)'' and again choose "modify" then paste in the Google search engine string of your choice, if adventurous might see if "reset" would remove and see if gone in next session (well not for those keeping the extension).<br
