How can I erase music in library/keep on ipod

My computer is much smaller than my ipod and I'd like to erase a lot in my music library but keep it on my ipod. When I right click on the ipod icon, I don't see a way to change the automatic updates setting. Somone told me that that is the way you can delete music but keep it on your ipod.

If you intend to go down this route, consider backing up your music first.

The iPod is not reliable enough to use it as a long term storage device, and these forums are littered with posts from people who decided to use it as such and ended up losing all their music.

how can i transfer my itunes library from my ipod to a new laptop

3 things you need to transfer music from iPod to itunes: iPod, computer, iTunes.
step 1 connect your ipod to your computer via the white USB cable.
step 2 open My Computer, or just Computer from the start menu and look for the ipod drive. It should be in the (F:) drive. You will see the ipod logo in the listing of disk drives.
step 3 Now you should have a new folder called ipod_control. Open that folder up and you should see the following: Calendar, Contacts, ipod_control, notes, photos, ect. If you are trying to save all of your music then the ipod_control folder is the only one you need to worry about.
step 3 Open the ipod_control folder then open the music folder. Copy each one of those folders (should look similar to these: F00, F01 ...) onto your computer.
step 3 Open itunes and insert the new folder you created on your computer's desktop into: library ---> Music

  • How can I import music to Library from iPOD?

My C: drive was completely ersaed by accident and I lost all my music on it, but fortunately my iPOD still has all those music files. How can I restore them back to my Library on iTUNEs? Also is there a way to get "purchased music" back?
    Please help

    Hi,
To recover music from the iPod do a search in Google "recover music from iPod" you will get the links.
To know if it is possible to get back the purchased music send a email to ITMS at http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/ipod/
    With Regards,
    Santo
Note: Always take a back up of all your data in the computer. Nothing is 100 % secure.

  • How can I erase music on my iPad?

I really want to erase my music list on my iPad, but it syncs to my Apple ID account, and I can't also find a way to erase these songs from the account as well. I've never found a way to erase music on an apple device before, but now that I want to replace them I need to find one. Pls help srs bsnss

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Generally you would swipe to the left and tap delete on the items you want to delete.
If you see a cloud icon next to the item, it means it's not actually on your device, so can't be deleted, but can be redownloaded. If you don't wish to see these items, Settings > music > show all music > off.

Somebody can help me to erase music from the ipad???????

You can't on your iPad.  You can when you connect your iPad to your computer via iTunes.  That's where you manage music, videos, pictures, etc.
As of iOS 5, you can indeed delete music directly from the iPad.

  • My PC died. How can I reform my iTunes library from my iPod on a new PC?

I have two separate iTunes libraries. Jazz and Pop are on a Mac Based iPod and Classical on a Windows based one. My old PC failed and I can't get at the hard drive. I have the music from the iTunes library on my iPod. How do I transfer this into iTunes on a new PC?

    Preliminary conditions:
Through settings, you must log the Apple TV in with your iCloud account.
In iTunes, choose Advanced > Turn on Home Sharing from the menu bar.
The Apple TV and your computer must be connect to the same network.
The Apple TV is sold in many different countries. However, iTunes is discriminately serviced. Whereas in the United States, movies and musics are sold in their entirety, there is no such services in Korea ― only app purchases. If your iCloud (or Apple) acount falls into the latter category, and you login to the Apple TV with that account, Apple TV will automatically convert its systems to the similar limitations.
Here's what happens when I login with my U.S. account to the Apple TV.
But when I login with my Korean account, theres only the 'Computers' and 'Settings' menu.

  • HT1711 how can i erase music off of my ipad2

ive been trying to figure this out for the longest and i really need answers

If its to save room I wouldn't drag the files to the trash. That would get rid of them for good. I know you said you can't by computer, if your syncing with that computer, under music when it's connected, don't sync full library. Go through and select the certain songs you want. If its to delete just off your iPad because you don't have a comp read what ana posted.

  • How can I transfer music and movies from my iPod to my PC?

I recently lost all of my content on iTunes and have been looking for a way to transfer my content from my iPod over to my PC. I have no idea how I can do it, and my iPod is going screwy, so I need to transfer my content before my iPod finally breaks. Help?

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

  • How can I get music onto my 2nd gen iPod Touch?

My mum recently gave me her old iPod, a 2nd gen. My sister tried to upgrade it up to iOS 5 but couldn't.
Every time I plug my iPod into charge it pops up in iTunes saying, "This iPod cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.1 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest vesion of iTunes."
Alls well saying that, but my problem is I'm running on version 10.4.11 Snow Tiger on a MacBook Pro.
When I go to download the iTunes it states that I need version 10.6.11 Snow Leopard.
My mother and sister both have Snow Leopard and Snow Lion but they will not let me use their iTunes.
What I need to know if there is anyway that I can get music onto my iPod without purchseing songs from the iTunes store.
    Can anyone help?
    Regards,
    inezkazan.

    I realized that.
This has been an outstanding problem for many months.
All I would like to know is if I can put music onto it atall..
    Thanks.

  • How can I add music to an Apple-formatted iPod from a Windows-PC?

without losing the music that I already downloaded from an iMac?
When I try connecting the iPod to my Windows PC, it prompts me to restore, which would eliminate all the music that's already on the iPod.
    Any way around that?

If your iPod is formatted for Mac it won't run natively on a PC because Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats). However there are third party programs that will allow you to use a Mac formatted iPod on Windows. XPlay and MacDrive for instance get good reviews. XPlay is an iPod specific program and can be used as an iTunes alternative, MacDrive is more general and lets you access various types of Mac formatted drives on Windows such as CDs, DVDs, hard drives etc:

It's asking you to sign in because you most likely have find my iPhone turned on. If you can connect to WiFi, I'd suggest turning off find my iPhone by going to Settings>iCloud>find my iPhone. Turn it off and go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and setting. That will fix the issue.
