How can I export a single frame as an image?

Hi, I'd like to take single frames of video and use them in printed material. Its HDCAM, from a Sony EX1, edited on FCP 10.1.  How can I export them simply?
Regards
Phil

Place the playhead on the frame you want as a still. Then in share window choose location Save Current Frame. You can then select options such as Jpg, PNG etc.

  • Why I can't export a single frame from my composition?

I try to export a single frame from the cavas but motion just did nothing when I click on export. Is there something wrong with my motion setup? I have trashed the motion's plist couple times already but still having the same issue. I can't even save the project. When click on save, motion did nothing, just like export. HELP!

I see that you are on an intel mac. Are you running the universal versions (Final Cut Studio 5.1 w/ Motion 2.1)?
See this article for troubleshooting steps: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302596.
When I am having major issues like this, I just start over from scratch. Do a complete erase and install with the OS discs, reinstall all applications and update everything with software update. I keep a separate partition just for film and video work that I can blow away any time (I don't store any important files on it).

  • How can I export a single track in Soundbooth CS5?

    Greetings,
I have built up a single track in Soundbooth composed of several repeated clips. I wish to export this single track.
How can I do this in CS5 Soundbooth?
    Thanks,
    folsombob

Sorry nobody has answered this. I haven't been in this forum in a couple of weeks.
If you have all the tracks right where you want them, are you able to save the file as an mp3?
Are you looking to export it for web use?
    For video tracking?
I'm not sure why you'd want to export it as opposed to saving in one of the many available formats.

  • How can I export a freeze frame into a JPG or Tiff file?

I would like to export a freeze frame from my Final Cut Ten  timeline onto my desktop for transfer. I'm not sure how to do this. It was a lot easier to do in Final Cut Express. Any help please?

Now it's added into the preferences. Put the playhead over the clip you want. Then go to the Share button and you'll see Save Current Frame

  • How can I extract a single frame from a DVD?

I have a DVD that contains a movie of some old slides.  Is there a way I can extract one image from the DVD?

    pause and screenshot the video
To capture a portion of the desktop, press Command-Shift-4. A cross-hair cursor will appear and you can click and drag to select the area you wish to capture. When you release the mouse button, the screen shot will be automatically saved as a PNG file on your desktop.
There are screenshot tools in Imovie and others such as Final Cut Pro as well for higher resolution

You can also use the 3 finger method of COMMAND+SHIFT+4, then drag across what you want to copy from the image. That will show up on your desktop, which then you can edit using Photoshop, if you want too.
You can then change the file format from a PNG to either a .JPG or TIFF or even a Photoshop image.
Make sure, you have stopped the playback, to what you want to save as a still.
Either method works, to make a still image from video.

How can I export a still picture from a video clip?

I'm able to export stills from iMovie without anything extra. I create a new project - call it Exports say. Now, in your event clip with the frames you want as stills, select a single frame and drag it into your project. Repeat for other stills you want to export. Then choose Share -> Export Using QuickTime.
In the pop-up, choose Movie to Image Sequence. Click Options and choose the image format you want. Playing with the number of stills lets you pick how many stills you want from each second of video. Hit OK and the stills will be generated in the directory you choose.
I've only done this with HD video. Don't know how well it works with lower res, interlaced vid.

  • (How can we) Export FXG from Flash Professional using JSFL

How can we export a selection from Flash Professional as .FXG using JSFL? It appears that this is not possible... just yet! I have added this as a feature request within the Adobe Labs site for Flash Professional. Someone at Adobe suggested that I also explore the forums, so here we are. If you would also like to have this feature added, please let Adobe know by promoting the idea.
Our use case is this: we have a large Flash file with a library of over one thousand skins and assets that were built in Flash with Adobe's Flex Skins Templates. These stateful, graphical skins were used within a custom theme by several Flex 3 projects. Our ultimate goal is to bring these through Catalyst, maintaining their vectors, and use them to create Spark skins.
We've got a JSFL that can export each linked library asset, as well as any frame-labeled 'state' within these clips. However, currently we are using exportPNG, which is not ideal as it flattens our vector art into raster images. We are about to try the exportSWF option, and see what Flash Catalyst does with this. Our early attemps with importing swf's haven't been too amazing.
I'm starting to imagine some cross-product scripting in which we export symbols at a state-by-state level as .swf from Flash, then rebuild these onto layers in Illustrator, and THEN import these into Catalyst...yikes!
    Anyone have a better solution?

    Follow-up:
Out of pure wishful thinking I decided I would just see what happened if I pretended 'exportFXG' was already a part of JSFL. Based on the signature of 'exportPNG', i tried the following lines:
      var success = fl.getDocumentDOM().exportFXG("file:///C:/mySymbol.fxg");
      fl.trace("success:"+success); // output: success:true
It worked! Fantastic! I'm not sure if exportFXG is considered still in "beta" and therefore intentionally excluded from the docs, or if it was just an oversight. But at least it gives us something to experiment with.

  • How can I export an Adobe illustrator CC .AI file to a DWG or DXF file suitable for SolidWorks?

    Hi
    Can anyone help?
How can I export an Adobe illustrator CC .AI file to a DWG or DXF file,  without SolidWorks enlarging the file & converting every curve into hundreds of short little straight lines rather than a single continuous line/s.
I have made sure the file is ungrouped or has any compound paths or colours.
Opening it in Autocad 2010 still converts the DWG file into hundreds of short little straight lines!
The file is needed to laser cut out an aluminium shape using SolidWorks 2008 (Metal soft)?
    Formats they can handle are:
    DWG, DXF, IGES, IGA
There must be a way to export it without re-drawing the whole design in Soildworks again!!??
    Can anyone help?
    INCA

Not really. This is a limitation you will have to live with. Unless you are extremely careful, most paths will be converted to polyline segments by AI and in particular in AI CC this is somehow busted, so it happens more often. You might have much more luck opening a native AI file in DraftSight or a 2D CAD program like TurboCAD and exporting a DWG or 2D IGES/ STEP file from there. The sizing issue is a different matter, but without knowing what units you actualyl used, nobody can advise.

  • How can i export the data to excel which has 2 tables with same number of columns & column names?

Hi everyone, again landed up with a problem.
After trying a lot to do it myself, finally decided to post here..
I have created a form in form builder 6i, in which on clicking a button the data gets exported to excel sheet.
It is working fine with a single table. The problem now is that i am unable to do the same with 2 tables.
Because both the tables have same number of columns & column names.
Below are 2 tables with column names:
    Table-1 (MONTHLY_PART_1)
    Table-2 (MONTHLY_PART_2)
    SL_NO
    SL_NO
    COMP
    COMP
    DUE_DATE
    DUE_DATE
    U-1
    U-1
    U-2
    U-2
    U-4
    U-4
    U-20
    U-20
    U-25
    U-25
Since both the tables have same column names, I'm getting the following error :
    Error 402 at line 103, column 4
alias required in SELECT list of cursor to avoid duplicate column names.
So How can i export the data to excel which has 2 tables with same number of columns & column names?
Should i paste the code? Should i post this query in 'SQL and PL/SQL' Forum?
    Help me with this please.
    Thank You.

You'll have to *alias* your columns, not prefix it with the table names:

  • How do I export a freeze frame in CS4?

There's no longer an "Export/Frame" menu option in CS4 (as there was in CS3).
How can I export a simple freeze frame from Premiere into another editing program, such as Photoshop?
    Thanks.

I've torn out half my hair trying to answer the same question.  I think I have an answer and it had nothing to do with the many hours I've spent in Adobe's help and Forum to get an answer.  I had to figure it out myself.
Here it is:  Because CS4 handles HD video, they don't export straight to JPEG.  They export to TIFF which is higher resolution than JPEG.  That's my guess, anyway.  To export a frame grab, go to FILE>EXPORT>MEDIA.  On the top right side of the window in the Format box, click the down arrow to open the list and select TIFF.  Click Okay.
Another box will open up.  This is the Adobe Media Encoder window.  Yeah it's new to me too.
The file you are trying to export should show up in the box with all it's wonderful detail including where you want it to go.  If you want to change the name of the exported frame, click on the 'Output File' portion of the detail and a 'Save As' window will pop up and you can rename the file.  Otherwise, CS4 will give it a generic name for you and you'll have to go find it.
When you get done click 'Okay' and it takes you back to the Media Encoder window.  From there click on 'Start Que' and the file gets saved.  Click on the upper right X and the Media Encoder window closes.  There is no 'Done' or 'Close' button that I can find.
Somehow I got my file to save as a JPEG the first time but I'm unable to duplicate my steps now, so just know that it can be done and be willing to experiment a little from here.  If you click on Add, it offers the JPEG format but it's trying to OPEN a file instead of SAVE.  I'll have to keep working on that part.
I hope this helps.  These turkeys at Adobe should hire me as a troubleshooter and manual writer - I spend a lot of time trying to figure out things they don't document in the manual or help files.  As for the Forum - they can stuff that, it's useless.   This should be an exquisitely simple task - we all do frame grabs.  But they've made it into a monstrous chore.

  • How can one place a single image on a spread? CS3-MAC

    Hi all,
i How can one place a single image on a spread? CS3-MAC
A very straight forward question I think. I just never did it before. Anyone knows of a fast technique of doing this? I have to make 70+ images this way. Could it be scripted?
    thanx in advance
    Michael

You'll need to be more specific. Placing a single image on one spread is drop-dead simple. File > Place, choose file, click (or click-and-drag) to place, scale and position as desired. You can ask about scripting in the
    scripting forum.
You might not need to script this to get efficient use of time. Make a picture frame on the master spread and then insert 140 pages (70 2-page spreads) based on that master. File > Place, and select all 70 files. (They need to be in one folder. Click on the top file, scroll down, lick on the bottom file.) Zoom out and click once on each spread to place each image. Should work faster that writing, testing, debugging, and running a script.

  • How do I export a .MOV frame as a PNG?

How do I export a .MOV frame as a PNG? Currently, I can only seem to export as a .PCT through "Export Movie to Picture", even when I select "Use: PNG".
Currently, the workaround I use is to export using "Export Movie to BMP", and then converting to PNG with an image editor (but this would be unnecessary if QuickTime is capable of a direct conversion to PNG).

It doesn't seem to be a simple as simply changing the extension.
I ran into this problem when trying to masquerade a QT pct file as a png file as a preview for a flash video. When embedded in the flash player, it would not appear in any browser. (BTW --- It appeared just fine as a plain img in any browser.)
Here was my rather specific fix, which shows that simply changing extensions doesn't always fool every application:
    1. Open the png file in a text editor (in my case, emacs) which will let you edit binaries as ASCII text.
    2. Look through the file. Assuming that non-ASCII characters are shown in octal with a preceding \, you'll see the following
    \377\377\211PNG
    3. Delete everything until just after the two \377 characters, so that the file starts with \211PNG. (If you are editing in hex, look for ff ff 89 50, and delete up through the ff ff.)
    4. Save the file.
After doing this, it embedded just fine.
So.... simply swapping the pct extension for png isn't a true fix in all ways. I'm guessing that pulling off the start of the file tears off the wrapper alluded to above.
