How can I export a slide show to play on a DVD player

I have an album of photos from my recent holiday I would like to view these on our family TV. I have a blue ray DVD player. How can I create a DVD to play on the DVD player from the album?

Export the slideshow from iPhoto, that makes a movie of it.
Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.
Other options:
Burn: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/21992/burn
Toast: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/6351/toast-titanium
But there are lots of others too. Search on the App Store or MacUpdate

  • Re: How do I export a slide show from iPhoto to a DVD? Aug 14, 2013 7:51 AM (in response to madylarry)

    I did what leonieDF suggested:
export de slideshow to computer, which also exports it to iTunes
    open iDVD
select a theme (I tried several)
drag slideshow to iDVD window (I also checked the DVD map to make sure no zone was empty)
drag single photos to drop zones
    burn DVD
It came out fine, slideshow and music, but... the selected theme with title and photos shows up AFTER the slideshow itself. I could NOT move it before the slideshow (I tried in the DVD map)
    What next?
    Thanks...

    Check in the Map mode to make sure there is nothing in the Autoplay bin;
If there is drag it out and redo the disk.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • PSE8-Slide Shows to Play on TV/DVD Player

I watched the tutorial and read the online help.
    Two things are mentioned.
I can create a slide show to present on a TV set
When creating the slide show and am ready to create a DVD, Premiere Elements Will Load.
What none of the help says is whether a cable from the PC to the TV AND Premiere Elements are required to play a slide show on a TV set.
Does PSE8 make slide shows for TV or does Premiere, only, make slide shows for TV?
Do I need a cable, or can I play the burned DVD in the TV's DVD Player, as in Blockbuster movies?
A cable is not practical for me.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Barbara.
I don't have PRE; have only had PSE over the years.  Never had a need for video editing, although my wife has the 'original' Minolta Z1 which does video clips.
I am -very- interested in being able to play slide shows on a TV's VCR player as a replacement of showing slides on a projector (which I still have).
While I have you, will PRE's presets/templates work well with a non lcd, non plasma, non flatscreen, non hd, tv.  Do I have to make a particular resolution and aspect ratio set of files for non hdtv?
Even when I play a show directly from my camera (Nikon D300) the pictures look terrible, not even worth watching.
And, how would I cope with then being able to show the pictures on other people's flat, lcd, plasma, or hdtv's?  Do I have to make separate special burns at full resolution and a different aspect ratio?
Will Adobe PRE tell me how to do these things?  I will be upgrading to PSE8 and have to make a decision whether Premiere Elements 8 would be a better upgrade.
    Thanks.

  • How can I burn a slide show to a dvd?

I have tried, every way, possible to burn a slide show with music to a dvd and I did so successfully except that it will only play in a play station 3 unit and not correctly play on any computer or dvd player. I have tried several ways:
-Creating it as an image saving it to my desktop and burning it from disk utilities
-Creating it in iDVD and burning it that way
    I AM using a DVD-R
So, again it will play in the playstation but not on dvd players
    WHAT CAN I DO??
When I burned it using the whole image thing & disc utilities, it burned the slide show correctly but NO music. I would really appreciate your help

Sorry, was trying to get all of these.

  • Why can't I burn a movie to play in a DVD player?

I made a movie in iMovie well it was more like a slide show I did with pictures and dropped some music in there However when I went to burn the the movie I got a message saying that I only can play this movie in a DVD/DVD rom will not play in a standard DVD player. Then I tried sharing the movie to iDVD but I still can't burn into DVD format for (DVD Player) Why do I have to select new themes in iDVD all I want to do is burn the movie that I created to play in a dvd player.
    Thank You

This feature creates a duplicate of your project onto
a CD or DVD ROM. It does not create a video DVD for
playing in a DVD player. Do you want to continue?
This is the message that I received in iMovie when I
went to burn to disc File>Burn to disc
There are two kinds of DVDs we can create from within iMovie.
    1. A DVD containing iMovie project files as Mac files. This kind of DVD functions a lot like a hard disk. The File > Burn to disk command burns the iMovie project onto the DVD. This project movie cannot be played on a TV.
Most iMovie projects are too large to fit on a single-sided DVD, which is limited to about 4.6GB of data. One hour of iMovie video requires 12GB of disk space.
    2. A DVD containing files encoded (converted) in the MPEG-2 format, which DVD players know how to play. This type of DVD can be played on a TV. When converting your iMovie project to the MPEG-2 format, iDVD compresses the video and audio so (about) two hours of video can fit on a single-sided DVD.

  • How can I create a slide show and insert it into an email

I created a slide show of some pictures I want to share with my sales associate but can't seem to figure out how to Email it.  any help would be appreciated!  Thank you!

You will need to export it as a  QuickTime movie and share that.
That said, movies are big files and many recipients will be less than delighted to get large attachments that can cause them problems in their mailboxes. Better to upload the movie somewhere and then email them a link. Dropbox is an excellent way to do this.]

  • How can I send a slide show (with music) to different people?

I made a slide show on my MAC desktop for my son's memorial service.  I would like to share it with people who were not able to be there.  Can I share over email
or is there another way?  Please help, if you can...it really means a lot to me!

    Sorry for your loss.
Sharing video via email is not advisable.
Many email services have an attachment limit of 20mb and some a limit of 10mb. As emails are sent through an array of relays, the effective limit is the smallest file size allowed on any of the relays.  That means that video is rarely suitable for emailing. Then there's the whole issue of Codecs and not all machines will have the codecs to play all videos. Plus, folks with slower connections can find it very inconvenient to download large video files.
Finally, sharing video from iPhoto via email is not supported. All that gets you is the Movie thumbnail. If you feel you must share via email then you'll need to export the video first, and attach that. Use the File -> Export command and set the kind  to Original.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
Other than that your options include:
Upload it to a sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo and email a link - these will allow the recipient to view the material online. That will avoid the codec issues mentions, and the person can still download the video file if they wish.
Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they download the material to their machines to view.

  • How can I send a slide show with email?

I am trying to send an album but want the receiver to get them as a slide show. does someone knows how?

Note that any kind of file containing a slide show with multiple photos is going to be quite large, most likely, and thus is not really appropriate for e-mail.  Many servers won't accept attachments beyond a certain size, many people operate with strict mailbox size limits, and so your message may never arrive at its destination.  I'd encourage you to do something else.  For example, I think you can create a movie file - possibly using iMovie, I'm not sure though.  Do that and upload it to YouTube, then send people an e-mail invitation to view it.  If desired, YouTube allows you to set it to be viewable only to those who are invited and not to the general public.

  • Can't Export Keynote slide show file to iDVD?

I am having difficulty exporting a 12mb Keynote slide show file to iDVD. When I go to export, a warning stating that 'There is not enough disc space or a problem with the file' appears. I have enough disc space and I don't think that I am corrupting the file in any way. I've also tried a 'dummy' version with only two slides in the show, still get same message. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    intel 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I don't have a solution, but I'm having the same problem. I just installed iWork 06 and iLife 06. I have tried this on 2 machines one running 10.4.6 and the other running 10.3.9. And both give the same error. I called Tech support and first talked to the iWork department. The tech actually was having the same problem when he tried. He did research and talked to a product specialist to no avail. Then he transferred me to the product specialist, who was also having the problem and said they would escalate the issue to the engineers to see if its something they know about already or need to look at. I'm curious if anyone has actually been able to use this feature and when people started having problems. Because before installing iWork, there was a recent security update that I had installed on both these machines, and I wonder if that may have caused anything.
As far as preferences, there are two folders named Library one directly on your hard drive and one in your home folder. Both have a folder called Preferences, in Library/Preferences there's a file called com.apple.Keynote.plist and in home/library/preferences there's a file com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist These are the preference files for Keynote. On rare occassions preference files can become currupt causing errors in the application. If you delete the file the application just creates a new fresh one the next time you launch, but settings go back to default. But this sometimes fixes problems. However I have a feeling this may not work for this problem.

  • How can I export a slide from Keynote to iMovie HD?

I've tried to export a slide with animation into iMovie HD. The settings I'm using are 320x200, frame rate: 30 fps, Progressive, 16x9, Data Rate: Automatic. When I export and import into iMovie Hd the resolution is blurry and grainy.
I initially tried to build a title sequence in Keynote. The title sequense transitioned into a quicktime movie clip, transitioned into a title sequence. The audio portion worked to time but the video output was increased by :30 seconds and was out of sequence. I played with the settings and deleted the preference plist for iWork, but the timing never worked in Keynote.
The timing works in iMovie Hd, but I the titles are grainey and poor resolution.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

The source is DV 16:9. I've adjusted the resolution to 360:202 and compressed with Sorenson to a QT 512 streaming clip. The resolution is very good and I don't have any issues with the video. I've imported the video clip into Keynote and assembled the title sequence. It looks good with no blurring or choppiness. The problem comes when I export. The timing goes off and the length of the entire video clip is increased. I've also had problems with Keynote when exporting. It seems to be inconsistent and will drop the last title, even though the preview worked fine. I've worked around the problem by importing the title slides with out the transitions and then going into Final Cut. I'd like to keep the title transitions that I had in Keynote . Any thoughts? Thanks, Jeff
