How can I export my iMac Address Book to a file to be read by Outlook

I am trying to export my address book to Outlook on a laptop (PC) and have tried all the export options and cannot export more than one Vcard at a time. In addition, I find that I cannot sync with my Yahoo Address Book as well.

You might try this utility as a go between:

The best way to do that is create a new "smart group" with the following:
This way you can identify those without a group and drag them to one.

I think the best way is to export the required address books to LDIF files on the first machine and import those LDIF files on the second machine.
Alternatively you can copy the the data *.mab files from one machine to the other. The two default address books are represented by abook.mab and history.mab and can be simply copied. Other user-defined address books will be named as abook1.mab etc and will need to be imported. I'd suggest MoreColumnsForAddressBook for this task.

  • How do I export my Mac address book contacts from OS 10.10 to Excel

How do I export my Mac address book contacts to an excel spreadsheet?

Sorry, forgot to test it when I had 10.6 available.
I don't know that they're interchangeable, but it seems the relevant files & folders are...
    For Address Book, quit AB...
    Files...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.abd.plist
    Folders...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/com.apple.AddressBook/
So back those up if you try replacing them, and of course Permissions may or may not need adjusting on the swap.

  • How do I move my IMac Address Book to my IPad?

    I have two related questions.
First, how do I move/sync my IMac Address Book (Mac OSX -- 10.6.8/Snow Leopard) to my IPad?
Second, once that is accomplished, will the contacts and distribution lists be usable in sending email messages from my IPad?
    Thanks.
    Dan

I know nothing about the iPad, but the question comes down to:
    a) what can the iPad mail application or address book import?
    b) which of the answers to (a) can Thunderbird generate?
Thunderbird can generate LDIF and CSV files, and with a suitable add-on, vCard files. How would you physically load these into the iPad, even if they were compatible? Is wifi or bluetooth a viable transfer medium between the two devices?
Can the iPad synchronize with any external contacts system, such as Google Contacts?
This [https://support.apple.com/kb/PH11586 article] suggests that some Apple products can work with CSV, LDIF and vCard data.
I suspect that the most likely approach that will work is to send vCards as email attachments from Thunderbird, and to open and accept the vCards on the iPad.
    You will need this add-on:
    https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html
    to generate vCards in Thunderbird.

  • How can i get my previous address book into my current email?

I use to use road runner as my email but always so slow so I started using Hotmail, had lots of problems with Hotmail so I went back to using rr but I can't get my old address book, I access rr via Mozilla and I didn't before. I can open my previous rr and all the addresses are there but can't figure out how to get them into my new account.
    Thanks

Export them from where ever they are, either as CSV or LDIF format.
Import them to Thunderbirds address book. Tools (Alt_T) > import > address books

  • How can I export the query result into access(*.mdb) file?

    Dear all:
I want to export the query result displayed in jsp into excel file
and access file. And I have exported the result into excel format successfully, only one line should be added in the head of Jsp:
    <%@ page contentType="application/vnd.ms-excel; charset=gb2312" %>
But how can I export it in access(*.mdb) file? I have replaced "excel"
with "access". But it can't achive my goal.
What should I do to achieve my goal?
    Thanks!

The only reason your Excel export works is that Excel knows how to interpret comma separated values as an input file format. Access has no such beast.
If you absolutely must provide info in an mdb, one solution would be to create an ODBC datasource pointing to an empty mdb, then push data into it using the jdbc:odbc bridge, then make a copy of the file and stream it down to the browser. You may run into some ugly file locking items here - set the ODBC connection so it is not shared, and that might help.
This one is going to be ugly.
I suppose another approach would be to write a simple VB applicatin that uses automation to create an MDB, then stream that file down to the browser from your servlet. That would almost certainly be faster than the ODBC approach.

  • I am trying to export only an individual list from my address book. I can only export the entire address book. No way to decipher it once in Excel either.

I hate to admit how much time I have spent on this issue. I have been trying to separate just the "lists" from within my T-Bird address book, and export them (again, just the names on those individual lists) into a csv or tab delimited file, so I can import it into one of the newer mail programs.
Honestly I have been trying to figure out my way around this for years. "Lists" have always been clunky and difficult to work with. Lots of unpredictablity, and you can only go so long in the list before it will no longer send, and you need to create a new one. I send these out for a business, with some customers going back ten years or more.
Since I have never been able to figure it out, I just keep using T-Bird for this, even though its never worked reliably.
Recently I have been forced into a change. The "lists" will no longer send emails that are received by recipients. Probably some new spam or security things out there. No emails send. Now I have to do something, but to retype hundreds of names from scratch is just not the kind of thing that gives me joy.
I would be eternally grateful to the person who can help...

    This add-on may help:
    https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html
I've had this add-on for so long that I can't remember what it does and does not provide.
If you select a List in your Address Book, so that its contents display at the right, does "Export" not write just the Lists's member Contacts out to the csv file?
It does here, but this may be thanks to the above-mentioned add-on.

  • How To Export from Mac address book to CSV file

In Mac's address book: How do you export a highlighted group of *contacts to a cvs file* (so that I can import in groups by my categories into Google contacts- that way it is easier to sort/designate the contacts one I get the contacts there into Google).
I can sync them all- but then I'd have to put them into their categories one at a time, there are too many...
    thx missy
(I'm used to ms office and pc's)

Okay, *I got this issue worked out;here's how.* (Unfortunately the mac app AB2CSV doesn't open up to the screens it's supposed to in order to choose and convert or save contacts to a csv file and did crash my address book- which was very scary to see my 1533 contacts vanish!! )
Luckily somehow I had made an archive file of them all and got them back into my mac Calendar unscathed -so I lucked out...
Today at my local Apple Store in Nashville *I was shown a better way-and I'm glad to share this with you*:(They also set up my mobile me and my itouch to sync my contacts and emails too-plus got my contacts synced up to my GoogleApps acnt- so now I am in the clouds, backed up, and liberated-in spite of myself!!)
*iWorks Numbers* works similar to msExcel, so you *open up Numbers* ;get on to a *new blank page*;also *open Address Book* and highlight the contacts from your address book and *drag them right on to your Numbers page*; like magic it looks like an excel spread sheet (you can choose the columns/headers you want to use ie name, phone #,street, city, email, etc even the notes); then you go up to *Share in the menu*; *choose csv file*; and *save it*...Thank you Apple store Green Hills!! you saved me today!!

  • How can I import my OE address book and IE favorites????

Please help! Getting ready to upgrade from 9.2.2 .to 10.4.4 but...
how can I import my Outlook Express address book (full of my vital email contacts!) to Mac Mail and my Internet Explorer favorites to another program supported by 10.4.4? Which program is the easiest and best to replace IE?
    Thanks for you help.
    M
    G4

    Hi Margaret
Tiger comes with Safari included - which will replace IE. there are other free browsers like Firefox, Camino, Opera ..... you'll find a huge list at http://darrel.knutson.com/mac/www/browsers.html . But for starters, I'd stick with Safari. You can easily ( assuming dsl or cable) download & try out others later.
I don't have a mac IE to check - but look under the file menu & you may find a "export favorites" command. If you do, choose that and export as html. Save it to your desktop or somewhere convenient. You can check it's worked ok double-clicking the file - you should see a looong list of headings & favorites. They won't be clickable links, so don't worry about that - just quickly check that there's nothing obviously missing. This file can be used in Safari by choosing safari-file-import bookmarks & choosing the file you saved.
getting your OE contacts in : check out http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=AddressBook/4.0/en/ad808.html . Again I don't have OE available - but if there's an 'export contacts' available - it should be easy.

  • How can I organize groups in Address Book while running iCloud under Lion?

I am frustrated with the new Address Book for many reasons:
It is no longer possible to view groups, list, and cards at the same time, just groups and list or list and cards.  This means it is very cumbersome to organize cards to multiple groups, something that wa relatively easy before.  Why not allow us to see all three at once and conveniently drag and delete?
The individual cards do not list what groups each card belongs to.  Why didn't Apple include a list and a way to change the group when editing cards?  Do any of the Apple programmers actually use their own programs to make them useful and convenient?
While running iCloud addresses are duplicated (one set "On My Mac" and another "iCloud").  While it is possible to view only one set or the other, I found that it is best to backup and then delete the "On My Mac" cards and groups.  Even then it is confusing to navigate and move cards around.
The iCloud synch with my iPod is working well, but I have to synch my older iPhone 3G with a cable. (will not run OS X v 10.7 Lion).
The iCloud address book is not synching properly with Yahoo, but rather the Yahoo address are being pulled over to the "On My Mac" set that had been removed.  Why can't we set controls of pushing or pulling data vs synching, as well as whether whether this is with the iCloud or "On My Mac" addresses?
The new address book format, while cute is too bright, hard to read and wastes a lot of space with white nothingness.  Why can't we have a more attractive, easier to read, and functional address book format, with more ability to customize format for advanced users?
I suppose I may have answered my own question: basically it is possible to manage the groups as long is willing to put up with inefficiency and backs up manually by exporting the address book regularly as a backup (because so much can and does go wrong).  Does anybody have more insight?

  • How can I import my .mac address book from online to my computer?

My macbook was stolen last week, and I am now using an older iBook that we had, but I haven't been able to retrieve my mail address book from the backups I was making. I have most of the contacts in my address book when using .mac web-based email, but not on my computer. I am afraid to turn on syncing because I don't want my computer to erase all the addresses stored online. How can I reverse sync, and get my online address book to import to my computer?
    Thanks.

go to 'system prefernces > .Mac > advanced > reset sync data'
Then choose to replace everything on your compu with .Mac data. (Back up before you begin! or is there really nothing to back up, then don't bother of course)
