How can I export via QuickTime in iMovie '13 (10.0)?

Prior versions of iMovie had an export via QuickTime option, which allowed me to select the file format, encoding settings, etc. After upgrading to the new iMovie, that appears to have gone away. The Share -> File option does not allow me that level of control over the output file. Has that functionality been removed from iMovie?

I'm also having trouble with this. The new version of iMovie lost a lot of its features and is clearly focused toward the social media side of things. After importing using SD cameras that import video in a *square* PiP format, I am finding it impossible to update any of my settings to export the video in any other format that wouldn't cut out the picture. Basically, the only settings I've found in the share option of the iMovie 10.0 cu off the tops and bottoms of all my recording. Previously, I used QuickTime settings to pick what format and quality I wanted to export in. Does anyone have any insight about how to export using, say, a 640 x 480 format or in being able to adjust to any format other than the standard ones giving.
Is there any other video software I can be using to import and export with that gives me more functionality?

  • How can I export HD video from iMovie to my Apple TV?

    In iMovie I have tried:
    Share>Export Using Quicktime>Movie to AppleTV
I am not given the option to change any settings from this point. It then exports to 960 by 540, which I believe is 540P (standard definition). I'm not expecting to get the 1080P it was originally shot in (I mean, c'mon, it's not even the year 2010 yet), but does anyone know if I can at least export to 720P on my Apple TV?
I have confirmed that it imported properly at 1080P.

    Apple does know:

    (=in the 30fps world, 960 is benchmark)

  • How can I export a Quicktime with Alpha embedded?

I have a few titles that I've created in Premiere.  I've placed these titles into their own sequence and would like to export them as a Quicktime movie using the Animation codec with an embedded alpha channel (Millions+) so that I can import it into After Effects and do some animation work with them.  I don't want them against black though.
When I Export Media in Premiere and select Quicktime with the Animation codec, the "code settings" button is greyed out.
Please help.  There must be a way to export media with an embedded alpha channel like you can in FCP.
    Thanks.

    WoOWavE_Sync_Pro,
I don't see what is complicated about it at all. I don't mean to start an argument, but making a title is easy, exporting it with an Alpha channel is easy (as shown above). Where is the problem? Why go to TIFF? I certainly would never "export normally and key out the backgrounf (sic) in AE"
Perhaps you would care to explain your comments in more detail?
If you are interested in the font style I used, it came from Tim Kolb back in the CS3 days or before. I have a link to his styles on my web site. I used to count the downloads, but over the years I lost track.
Of course, having said that, if I was going to have a complicated title with motion, I would use AE to begin with.  And I would probably use a downloaded template as a starting point. But that is because other people are more creative than I am. I am just a techie dabbling on the creative side of things.
By the way, I suppose I should get around to testing your product. If I like it, I will post a link on my web site to direct people to it. Feel free to send me an email from my web site telling me why people should use it and what you want people to know about it. And you might want to suggest how to test it as well. I used to get a LOT of visitors every day. It has cut way back since I have not been updating it. Now that I have started to update it again, I expect the visitor count will rise again. • How can I export 1080p 50 in iMovie 10.0 (2013)?

    Don't say I can't!

I have been able to export to my desktop but am getting rejected by Vimeo and You Tube. Just click the "Share" option in the top toolbar of iMovie. Still, every program keeps telling me my file is not a movie file and QuickTime will not play it, either. As an added note, I used one of the preset themes to create my movie.
    Still looking for a solution.

  • How can I export 1080p video through iMovie 10.0.5?

    Hi,
I know this question has been asked many times, but I just cannot find a solution. I need help please.
I have searched for tutorials and questions and they all say to export the video through quicktime. It could be done by clicking share, then choosing quicktime. But the thing is I do not have that option on my iMovie app on my MacbookPro.
Once I press share i have the options to share on Theater, Email, iTunes, Youtube, Facebook, Vimeo, CNN ireport, and saving it as a file.
It shows that 1080p could be an option, but I am not able to pick 1080p as an export on any of the options to share shown above.

I was in the same boat at kiril. I wanted to export a .mov file. What you can also do is select the clip, then select "share" it will bring up a separate menu. If you select to email the clip it will create a file on your email application. With the email open you can then right click on the file within the email and select "save to downloads folder".
Within the downloads folder your file will be listed as a .mov file. Move the .mov where ever you want it to go.
OR you can select within the email when you right click "save attachment" and select where you want to save the .mov file.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I export individual clips from iMovie?

I have 250 clips, but I want to export them ALL as individual clips, and not as a movie.  I have taken a lot of time to select these clips from many hours of video.  And I now need to get these clips to a post-production person for editing.  I wish to export them all as indivudual clips, and maintaining the original order.
I can only find the way to export either a single clip, or an entire movie.
Can anyone help me on this Thanksgiving morning??
    THANKS!
    Jim

sorry I should have been a bit clearer.
There are three sections I wish to export individually from the one sequence.
I worked out that I could export multiple sequences within the same project, which is fine... but the ability to export separate sections from one sequence would be very useful...
    Cheers,
And thanks again for your help.

  • How can I export a movie from iMovie onto a memory stick?

I am unable to load my movie onto a memory stick. The movie is about 80minutes long or just under 12gigabites. I tried loading it first onto a 16g and couldn't then on a 32g and kept getting the same message: The file format was too big to fit on that memory stick. Is there a special storage device that I need to use?

I thought I did, but looks like I didn't. Key word is "Partition." Then hit apply.
    Got it to work.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you're my hero BobRz

  • How can I export an mv4 video in iMovie 10?

How can I export my project in iMovie 10 in mv4 video? THK

You can't.  iMovie 10 only exports .mp4 - you will have to share then post-process.  If you mean .m4v there are fre apps that will do the conversion (such as Media Converter  see http://media-converter.sourceforge.net)

  • How can I export an imovie in a pc format?

How can I export an iMovie to a format that will work on a PC?

Easiest was is to install QuickTime for Windows (which is free from Apple) on the PC. Then any iMovie-created file will work.
If you do not have permission to install QuickTime for Windows on your PC (this could be the case for a corporate PC, for example), then I would suggest using SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME. Choose Movie to MP4. Choose h.264 for the video codec.

  • How can I export a slideshow from iPhoto to iMovie 09.  I try but it only lets me import 211 out of the 311 photos I have in the slideshow.

How can I export a slideshow from iPhoto to iMovie 09.  I try, but it only exports 211 out of the 311 photos I have in the slideshow I made on iPhoto.

how do i change the format to the right one?
Before you can decide what to do, you have to know what you are starting with. Sony MPEG-1 files would be converted one way while DivX or WMV files would likely be handled in another. Extraneous tracks can be removed directly with QT Pro but if you don't have QT Pro then there may or may not be other work around possibilities depending on the specific audio and video compression formats in use. The best place to start would normally be to double-clic the source file in iPhoto to open it in the QT Player. When it opens in the QT Player, check the "Inspector" window to see what it says on the "Format:" lines. This will tell you the type of audio and video content you are dealing with here. Then come and tell us so we can offer some specific conversion solutions.

  • How can I export a project on an external drive in the latest version of iMovie?

Before the latest release of iMovie I easily managed to export a project on an external usb drive and re-import such project on a different Mac... In the latest iMovie version, however, I cannot see my drive any more..
So, how can I export a project on an external drive in the latest version of iMovie?
    Thank you in advance

I'm not sure this is the best way, but you could create a new iMovie Library, move your project to that Library, then close the library. Then move the Library to your USB drive. Then, on the other Mac, in iMovie open the Library.

  • How can I get a quicktime movie in imovie?

I have a video saved as quicktime, .m4v, .3gp, .m4v and .mov.  None of these will import into iMovie!  How can I get this video in iMove???

MOV is a container, not a codec. so if it uses a codec that iMovie can read, then it should work.
.m4v should work. Codecs that work include h.264, DV, HDV, Apple Intermediate Codec, Apple Animation Codec, Motion JPEG/A and a few others.
Some.commercial .m4v's may have copy protection that would prevent iMovie from opening it.
Also, if any of these movies have extra tracks beyond the audio and video tracks, they will not work. This would include Chapter Tracks, Tween Tracks, Closed Captioning Tracks, and the like. These extra tracks could possibly be removed in QuickTime Pro.
.3gp would never work without converting it to something else.

I was only able to get it to export to my desktop as a .m4v file. The movie of my daughter I need to export to DVD so it can be sent as a DVD to people and played on a DVD player. Any assistance you can provide would be helpful.

When you preview the image from the save for web dialog box, it will open your browser to see the image. It also will have the necessary html code needed for the links to work. Just copy that html code and add it to your email code with the image.

  • How can i export video clips in iPhoto into iMovie?

how can i export video clips in iphoto into imovie?

    Hello andrewmarkp,
As long as the videos are in a format that can be used by iMovie, they will appear in your Event Browser, under 'iPhoto Videos.'
iMovie '11: Use video from your iPhoto library
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2196
If you’ve imported video from your digital camera into iPhoto, it appears automatically in your iMovie Event Library (as long as the video is in a compatible format).
To use iPhoto video in iMovie:
Click iPhoto Videos in the Event Library.
The videos appear in the Event browser on the right. You can select and use the video just as you would any other footage.
To learn about importing video into iPhoto, open iPhoto and choose Help > iPhoto Help.
    Cheers,
    Allen
