Basically you select the person using the various selection tools, copy the selection to the clipboard, and paste the selection onto the destination picture. I am very new to the photoshop world and am trying to remove an image from its background ( as a stand-alone) and save it. Is there a way to do this in Photoshop CS6? I have looked at tutorials but only found how to remove the image but not how to save the image as a stand alone with no background.

Hi Erika,
Are you trying to save a portion of an image with a transparent background? It may help to post a screenshot of the image that you're working with as well as your layers panel.

1. Here I am working with an image of a santa hat that I've cut out from a white background. I have two layers, the cut-out santa hat and the original file. I'm going to delete the background layer so that I have just one layer - the cut-out santa hat:
2. You'll see that a checkerboard pattern has appeared behind the santa hat. This means that the background is transparent.
3. You can then go to File > Save As... and select PNG, Photoshop PSD, or TIFF from the Format dropdown menu. These file formats will save the cut-out portion of your image on its own, while preserving the transparent background.

I have produced a document in two separate fils and want to merge them into one. There are six pages in each file, I need to put them I to one file, turn into a PDF and then mail them.

Menu > View > Page Thumbnails > click on them > Copy > Paste into Thumbnails of other document

Try triple-clicking in the text that you want to select--it can sometimes be tricky to select text in a converted document. If that doesn't work, it could be that the PDF document was created from a scanned document, and OCR wasn't enabled when you converted the document. (However, OCR is enabled by default when you convert via the ExportPDF website.)
If you're unable to select text by triple-clicking, let us know. I would be happy to take a closer look at your files.

You've said you have a Word file and want to use some pages in the file to create a new document.
Use Word to establish a new Word file that has the desired pages for the original Word file.
You now have a "new document" of the desired pages.
With Acrobat Standard or Pro installed you can create a "new document" PDF.
If you do not have Acrobat Standard or Pro or a subscription to an online Adobe service that can create PDF from MS Word you can use the Microsoft process to create PDF that comes with MS Word.
