How can I extract .rar files?

I have UnRARX but that doesnt work on the ones I need extracted. I had to use a windows computer to extract the files, but what program for mac will get the job done?

Stuffit Deluxe was the archive program of choice since System 7 until about MacOS 10.3 - it's not free and not as important as it once was.
The free Stuffit Expander still does great work for many types of archives. Stuffit Expander 13.0.3 -
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10151590
You can put an alias of the program on your desktop or the Dock. Drag your file onto it and let it go...
Their description:
Easily expand and decode all the files you download from the Web or receive in your e-mail. Access StuffIt files, uncompress Zip archives created by WinZip and other zip utilities, decompress tar, gzip and bzip archives, and more. Just drag, drop, and you're done. From BinHex to Zip, StuffIt to MIME, Expander accesses more formats, in less time, with zero hassles.

    Ex: Part 1 finishes, then asks for part 2, so on so forth!
    Trying to open something a colleague sent me, but is rather large. I have 5 .rar files. I cannot extract them seperatly or it errors/fails. Yet I cannot find a program that asks or searches for the next files in the extraction process. Tips? Programs that do? I know that WinRAR has what I need but they do not make a program for Mac, that I can get to work.
    P.s. please keep in mind i'm new to macs, my first one! and i really know nothing mac-specific, howver i know a fair bit about computers.

    It gave me the error when I ran the program, if I need to post a screenie I will. Also if unRarx does work, am I using it wrong? I've got all 5 .rar files together in one folder. Start unrarx, click browse, navigate to the first rar, click extract, then this error at the end:

  • How can I extract a file name / path from a local path variable in TestStand?

    I have local TestStand string variable, call it 'locals.path', that contains a path to a file including the file name (c:\inputs\input.txt). I need to be able to split up the path (c:\input) and the file name (input.txt) and save them into 2 local variables. What is the best way to do this?
    After reading through some of the other forums, it looks like there are some built-in functions that can accomplish this, but I am unable to find how to use them anywhere on the NI web site. One forum said to use the File I/O>Strip Path.file function. How is this called? Is this function in a DLL?
    I know that there are a number of DLLs that are installed with TestStand into the c:\windows\system32 directory. One forum made note of CVI_OpenFile / CVI_ReadFIle functions in the cvirt.dll that I used to solve a problem that I had in the past. The problem is that I had no idea that that these functions even existed and would have never known unless a similar question had been posted previously. Is there some place that these DLL function interfaces are defined or documented? Is there a function that can extract the file name out of a string for me?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi,
    There sound like functions in say LabVIEW or CVI.
    I have attached a small example which may help. (I have not allowed for any error trapping, if say you dont find the file and cancel)

    Use MPEG Streamclip (free) to convert your .mpg files to QuickTime formats.

  • How can I extract the two channels from a stereo track?

    Hi,
    I am writing a class that is able to draw an audio signal. It seems to be working well but I have a question. If I load a mono audio file I am able to draw it on a graph by using the byte[] array and everything is ok until now. That's the code:
    void Draw(byte[] x)
                Graphics g=getGraphics();
                Graphics2D g2=(Graphics2D)g;
                g2.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_ANTIALIASING,                     RenderingHints.VALUE_ANTIALIAS_ON);
                for(int i=0; i<x.length-6; i++)
                    g2.draw(new Line2D.Float(((i*(getWidth()-6))/x.length)+5, (getHeight()/2)-          ((x*(getWidth()-6))/x.length), (((i+1)*(getWidth()-6))/x.length)+5, (getHeight()/2)-     ((x[i+1]*(getWidth()-6))/x.length)));
    The results is correct only if I have a mono track. Obviously when I get a stereo track the array becomes very large so here the question. How can I extract the two audio channels from a stereo track?
    Thanks in advance.

    A mono audio stream is stored [sample, sample, sample, sample], so just a list of samples in an array.
    A stereo sample is interleaved in the same manner, so you get [left-sample, right-sample, left-sample, right-sample]
    So every nth sample is the 1st channel, every nth+1 is the 2nd channel...

  • How do I extract calendar files?

    Thank you for reviewing this post.  I appreciate any help you are willing to provide.
    I recently bought a new win 7 machine.  My tech copied all my old data from the previous machine to a single folder on my new machine.
    I have some Palm data .... But it did not import and the TX model will not install on my Win 7 machine, so I have to get this done through Palm Desktop.  (I read that might be caused by the fact I went to version 6 of palm software and tried to import).
    Quite simply here is my issue:  I really just want to get my calendar information.  I am probably going to use a different calendar program in the near future.
    How can I extract the calendar data from the raw files?  (Calendar.dat, etc)????
    MUST I import or somehow go through Palm Software, or can this be done outside of the Palm framework?
    I just FEEL that this cannot be anything too difficult, but I am so stuck and missing appointments daily.
    I am very grateful for your help.

    Post relates to: Palm TX
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    With the version of the data files you have, you will need to install Palm Desktop 4.2 or 4.1.4e. You will need to uninstall Palm Desktop 6.2, if that is what you have installed currently. The files with the extension of .dat are not compatible with PD 6.2.
    Another thing to consider is the version of Win7 you have installed. If you have 64 bit version, you will only be able to sync wirelessly using bluetooth, Infrared or wi-fi. On your PC go to the computer icon and right click. Look on the page and see if it states 64bit anywhere. If you have the 32bit version, you can sync via the USB cable method but you need to make sure you have the correct version of PD installed.
    To put the .dat files into PD, you will need to go to the username folder on the program drive and paste the files into the correct subfolder. Make sure PD is closed. Go to c-program files-palm and look for the PD user folder. Once you locate the folder, look for subfolders in that folder for address (this is the folder for contacts), datebook (calendar), memos and tasks. Paste the address.xxx files into the address folder, the datebook.xxx files into the datebook folder, etc. Once the files are in the respective locations, open PD and see if the data is there. If it is, you can then setup the sync according to your Win7 version, either wireless or USB.

  • How can I extract a piece of video from a DVD ?

    Dear all,
    I recorded a DVD of a TV broadcast. I'd like to get an extract from it and use it in a presentation later (such as powerpoint).
    How can I extract the piece of video ?
    Is is possible to record it with quicktime (for example) or any other application ?
    thanks for your help
    Didier

    MPEG Streamclip and the Apple MPEG-2 component will allow you to edit the VOB files off the DVD and export to MPEG-4. Searching here will provide this answer several hundred times as it is asked a LOT. More so for iPod users. You cannot export or edit and then export MPEG1/2 with Quicktime unless you do not need the audio as there won't be any.

  • How can I pass a file refnum into and out of external c++ code? What type does it convert to in c++?

    I am trying to write external c++ code that will read a file already opened by Labview and therefore assigned a refnum. (Unfortunately, I definately can't use the standard Labview vis.) However I am not sure what c++ type to use in order to manage the refnum.
    All help and thoughts appreciated. Thanks,
    Joanna

    You could do ALL your file handling in C or C++ (MFC CFile for
    example) and pass Microsoft file handles into and out of LabVIEW
    instead of LabVIEW file references into and out of C. This may be an
    easier way to attack the problem.
    You could create a DLL in MSVC that exports a FileOpen function, a
    FileClose function and a FileRead and/or FileWrite Function and then
    call that DLL from place to place as required in your code.
    It would help us if you would explain what kind of data you are trying
    to read or write and what the application is. Is it binary data?
    text files? Do you need some special Win32 file system feature like
    file mapped memory? I guess what I am asking is what is your
    motivation for doing file handling in C or C++?

  • How can I extract a still picture from footage in iMovie, add text to it and print it ?

    How can I extract a still picture from footage in imovie, add text to it and print it ?

    Assuming you have iMovie 11 (also known as Version 9.0.4), here is how you do it. (If you have a different version, let me know. The instructions will be different).
    First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (google MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
    Open MPEG Streamclip.
    In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
    Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
    In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
    In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
    Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
    You can then use this photo in Photoshop, Pixelmator, Acorn, or the app of your choice to add text.
    Here is a demo I made the other day for how to extract the still image using MPEG Streamclip.
