How can I find an earlier version of iTunes that will work for my new iPod

I am writing this for my technophobe friend. He has an older iBook g3, version 10.2xx. It came installed with itunes 4. He just bought a nano iPod, which I believe requires a newer version of iTunes. he downloaded 7.6, and it will not woprk with his older 10.2 OS. Where can he find a version of iTunes that will be compatible with his older system, and still operate his iPod?
Thank you,
Tom

I really almost no experience with this but from casual reading I suspect he may be in a bind. 10.2 is relatively long in the tooth in the OSX world and I think the new iPods really require you have the OS to run the iTunes they want. I see posts about people upgrading to Tiger so they can run their ipods and I think that's the story.

  • Will the newest version of itunes that I need for a newer ipod still work for an old ipod?

I have an Ipod that is 4 years old and have an old version of Itunes that I use with it. My son wants to start using his Ipod that he just got last Christmas on this computer and Itunes wants me to download a new version of Itunes for it. I'm wondering if I download the newer version of Itunes, will it still work with my older Ipod. They are both Ipod Shuffles. Thanks.

  • How can I get films purchased from the iTunes store to work on my new iPod classic?

I have recently purchased a new iPod classic, everything works accept it will not play films. At first I thought it was a problem with the films I was trying to put on as they were from my computer; but after purchasing some films from iTunes it still keeps saying that they cannot be played on this device. Please help as I have spent money on films I otherwise cannot watch.
    Any advice is welcome.

    Hey Shelly29,
It sounds like you might be trying to sync HD videos to your iPod classic.
HD videos purchased from the iTunes Store are compatible with iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), Apple TV, and computers. You may need to download your purchased video from iTunes in the Cloud in a lower resolution for your device.
You'll want to check out the following article to resolve the issue, specifically the "Download previously purchased content in a lower resolution" section:
iTunes: Sync purchased HD videos to iPod or iOS device

  • I recently upgraded to osx 10.5.6 and found the version of itunes which allowed me to use my iphone 4, well now i've got the iphone 5 c, how can i find a version of itunes that will work on osx 10.5.6 and allow me to syn my iphone 5?

is there a version of itunes that works with osx 10.5.6 and also allows my to sync my iphone 5?

You say you have 10.5.6 (Leopard) but your signature says you have 10.6.6 (Snow Leopard) - which is it?
If it's Snow Leopard all you have to do is apply the combo updater:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
If it's Leopard it depends on what sort of processor you have. It it's PPC you cannot proceed. If it's Intel you may be able to upgrade to Snow Leopard (which is available in the Online Apple Store) provided you have enough RAM: check the requirements against your Mac.

  • Firefox version 4 does not work with Mac OS 10.4.11. Is there a fix for this? Alternatively, how do I download an older version of Firefox that will work?

I have a an older IMAC as a second computer. I replaced an older version of Firefox with the new update. I had to do this because Firefox gave me a message that the older version would no longer work. The new version 4.0 will not open even after it is put in the applications folder. I get a message that says this version is not compatible with my Operating system. I don't want to change the OS at the moment.
Can anyone help? I'd like to just download an older version of Firefox if that is the only way to make this work, but I can't find an older version on the website.
    Thanks very much.

Had the same problem; would have been nice if they had told s that we need an intel processor on our older Macs! I am up and running again.

  • I need a version of itunes that will work on my powerbook G4?

I tried the latest version of itunes and my powerbook does not support it.  Love itunes- what version works on older powerbooks?

Depends the age of the Powerbook, and your operating system.
Powerbook G4 867 Mhz or higher can run Mac OS X 10.5 to 10.5.8, but do not support Classic when doing so.
Depending on the age, they may support booting into Mac OS 9 while maintaining Mac OS X 10.5.8.
This link explains what versions of iTunes work with what Mac OS X versions.
    iTunes for 10.4 & 10.5 is here.
A newer version for 10.5 only is here.
Older versions may be found here.

  • How can I find an older version of itunes?

    Hi
I need to reinstal itunes 9.2 to my Mac.
I was having a problem with itunes recognising my iphone so followed instructions to uninstall itunes. However when I tried to re-install I find that in the last couple of days itunesx has appeared. My Mac is too old to accept it. I cannot find a version of 9.2.1 (which is I think where I was at). I did download 9.1 thinking automatic update would take care of it for me but it doesn't. And when I try to open itunes it won't read the library as it was created on a later version.
Grateful for any advice on how to get back to where I was?

So it is locking up at Cover flow view?
Have you tried creating a new user account, and seeing if it locked up in there as well?
When you do launch iTunes is the iPhone already connected or disconnected?

  • I have 10.6.8 and it says I don't need a software update, but for iMovie 11 you need 10.7.4, how can I downland an earlier version of iMovie that doesn't need 10.7.4?

    thoughts??

You need to either buy a newer Mac OS X version or install iLife 11 from a DVD; if desired, contact the Mac App Store support.

have read the 'help' given for this question from another ipad owner --which was to download the current version and then might be able to get a compatable version --- but the new version will not download -- just tells me I have to upgrade to version 6 which is not possible on the 1st generation ipad! I cannot understand why the older versions of ibooks and Kindle are not avilable for those of us who cannot afford to buy the new ipads. Please can anyone help?!!!!

    Sorry, but you can't.

  • How can I find out if the Samsung rugby II will work with my plan?

I want, no...NEED a new phone.  My old one is completely worn out.  I really like the Samsung Rugby II because it's very durable and I'm quite clumsy.  I see that the phone works on AT&T, but am unsure if it works on Verizon.  Upgrading through Verizon is really not an option I want to pursue because I am tired of being tethered to Verizon for another 2 years.  Seems like anytime I change ANYthing I have to consent to another 2 year commitment.  Been there too many times.  So, bottom line is I need a new phone, want to buy it myself and activate it without signing a new contract.  Thanks for any help you can provide.
    0frills

    Hello ofrills
The Samsung Rugby II unfortunately doesn't work on our network. It is set up to work only on AT&T's technology. The good news is we have several durable phones available. You can purchase a Verizon device and activate it on your line without a contract.
Here's an example: if your friend had a Verizon device that wasn't activated on a line. You could activate it under your telephone number without a contract extension. If you bought a Verizon device from a third party we could also activate it on your line for you.
Here's a link to our certified pre own device without a 2 year contract: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewAllPhones&deviceCategoryId=5
Please keep in mind signing a two year contract with us will greatly reduce the price of your new device. That time goes by very quickly. We have the best network and an awesome selection of phones!

  • I uninstalled firefox due to incompatabilty issues with my work program. I need to reinstall 5.0 or earlier as our program will not work with 6.0. How do I find an earlier version 4 or 5. Thank you.

Slow running program, uninstalled Firefox, I believe 3.1. My work program will only work with 4 or 5 for now. Where can I find an earlier version to download?

In some cases, the incompatibility is due to the new HTML5 parser in Firefox 4. You could disable that and test whether the bank site works again.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''html5''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''html5.parser.enable''' to toggle it to false (it should turn bold).
Then reload the bank page and see whether it works.
And if you need it, here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
    Close Firefox 4.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!
