How can I find duplicates in my photo library

I have imported old photos from discs. Some of them had duplicates on them. Is there any way to find and eliminate duplicates. I have several thousand photos and not all of them have been identified in any way (eg.date, label, etc.) that would help me.
Thanks!

  • How can I find duplicate photos without going through all 5000  one at a time?

    How can I find duplicate photos withough going through all 5000 one by one?  I have numerous duplications and used to be able to click on Edit and Find Duplicates and could clean up all the duplicates easily.  Now that option is gone.  I still have lots to delete.

    I do backup everything using Carbonite.Please don't tell me it is bad, too :-)  Also, especially with photo files, I do have other backups of those I am concerned about. Probably not the best in the world, but a log better than many people who I know about.
    Again, I really have not seen any problems with MacKeeper.  I imagine that if people do not read and follow instructions, they could have problems. For example, it is possible to scan all your files and see them in order of size. If you start deleting things, without knowing what you're deleting, you could cause trouble. Even when the computer scans for so-called junk files, you can look at them and decide for yourself if they are truly junk. I've never seen any that were not.
    So, I will look at the complaints anyway to see them. I am open to change, although I hope I do not need to drop Mackeeper as it does things like keeping tracking of applications updates that I need. Please note that I definitely am not a MacKeeper employee or anything close. Just using it and happy with the the results.
    I did download the recommend file for finding photo dupes and ran it.  There were very few duplicates, in any case, As I said before, the MacKeeper dupe finder was very slow when I ran it over ALL my files. That was a year ago and it did find many non-text dupes.

  • How can i find Duplicate Rows in forms6i

    Hi,
    How can i find duplicate rows in multiple record in forms6i.
    Thanks
    Raghu.K

    Oops, sorry for misreading your question. (However the SQL I gave you above is also very handy, and worth saving.)
    Okay, this is off the top of my head and untested, but might just work. Assuming that your data block name is MYBLOCK, and that the item that you want to check for dups on is named MYNUM, create an item-level WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM trigger with the following code.
    declare
    l_newest_record number(10) := :system.cursor_record;
    l_newest_mynum number(10) := :myblock.mynum;
    l_dup_found boolean := false;
    begin
    -- In this loop, we skip backwards through all new records to look for dups.
    while :system.cursor_record > 1 loop
    previous_record;
    if :system.record_status = 'NEW' then
    if :myblock.mynum := l_newest_mynum then
    l_dup_found := true;
    exit; -- Dup found!
    end if;
    else
    exit; -- We've gone backwards past the first new record.
    end if;
    end loop;
    -- In this loop, we return to the current record.
    while :system.cursor_record < l_newest_record loop
    next_record;
    end loop;
    if l_dup_found then
    raise duplicate_row_found; -- user-defined exception
    end if;
    end;
    The above code only checks for dups in the new form records. It assumes that a unique constraint in the database will deal with records actually committed.

  • How can I possible lose my entire photo library/ referenced master image file if I have downloaded all my images directly onto Aperture?

    How can I possible lose my entire photo library/ referenced master image file if I have downloaded all my images directly onto Aperture?

    CeliaJane, you need to distinguish between the Aperture Library and the Aperture Application.
    Aperture stores your images in a database, and it is this database that we have to find and probably to repair, not the application (hopefully). And since you do not see any images, I suspect that Aperture created a new, empty Aperture Library,and you are now viewing this empty library. Usully the library sits in your Pictures fiolder.
    Look into your Pictures folder, if you see a file with a colorful icon with three pictures, called something.aplibrary, as shown above. And also enter ".applibrary" into the "Spotlight" searchfield in the upper right corner of your screen. If you have more than one Library, you should be able to find them this way.
    The largest file you find will probably be the correct library.
    When you have found the correct file called aperturexxxx.aplibrary, try to open it in "First Aid" mode.
    Select the Library and press down "command" and "option" key at the same time, while you double click the library.
    Now the First Aid dialogue should appear:
    Select: Repair Permissions" and see if you can open the Library again. If it did not help, try the other two options in turn.

  • HT204022 How can I delete pictures from MY PHOTO LIBRARY? I use Firefix in my PC.

    How can I delee pictures from the Photo Library on my IPod Touch?. I use Firefox as my browser. I want to take them from the IPod to my Pc. I need to free up space.

    You can turn off photo stream on the iPad via Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream . Individual photos can't be deleted according to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486 :
    Individual photos cannot be deleted from your Photo Stream. You can, however, delete all the photos in your Photo Stream by clicking the Reset Photo Stream button in your account at icloud.com. The Reset Photo Stream button will instantly delete all Photo Stream photos stored in iCloud, but it will not remove any Photo Stream photos that have already been pushed to your devices.

  • How can I find duplicates in Photos app?

    I have a lot of all images that I imported to my mac way back from my old iPhones into folders on my hard drive, I know that there's some duplicates in those folders. But I dragged in everything to the new Photos app to clean up all the mess and keep all my iPhone photos in the same place.
    Is there a way to find duplicated images in my library? Or any 3rd-party apps that can help me out?
    Thanks,
    Nichlas

    Duplicate Annihaliator for Photos and FatCat's PowerPhotos both will find duplicates

  • How can I find what Event a photo is in when that photo is found via Faces?

    I've stumbled upon a photo via the Faces category. I do not know what Event this photo exists in, but I'd like to know (this same issue can occur with a photo found via Places of course too). How do I find out what Event this photo exists in? Of course I can pull the date or title data from the photo and then search for that data and visually find the photo from the search results, but I would assume there would be a much much easier method.
    None of the information data seems to contain any event data. I would think each photo would contain information as to what Event it currently resides in.

    Wait until iPhoto is done scanning for new images in the ".. might also be in the photos below" section, then right click (or Option-Click if your mouse has no right button) on the image, and in the last group of the menu that pops up should be an item "Show Event". While it's still scanning for more faces, the "Show Event" menu item isn't shown yet.

  • How can we find duplicate/unused code in a project?

    Is there a way to find duplicate/un-used code in a project?
    Are there any utilities/toolkits or anything that might facilitate in this respect?
    Have a pleasant day!
    Thanks for your time!

    Thanks GerdW for pointing out one of my earlier post to which you had so kindly replied. But that post was about VI's that are redundant and not being used in the project (your solution was mighty useful and handy; saved me a lot of time; thanks for that), this post is about finding code being used in VI's (that are being used in the project) but contain parts (code) that is not being used in the project (like maybe they were ported from some other related project and now contains redundant code bits). My question was is there an automatic way of finding those code bits out and removing them.
    Thanks for reply!

  • How can I sync my large aperture photo library between 2 macs?

    I have read various solutions to this, but quite frankly cannot determine which is the best for my situation.   I keep my master library on my iMac and use a Macbook when traveling.  My objective is to be able to share the master library on my Macbook and when I return from my travels, upload a new master library for my iMac.  My confusion relates to how A3 uses references for masters and I do not want to lose that logical link when switching back and forth.  I am completely willing to take my A3 external drive backup and use it to upload to the Macbook and then reverse the process when I return.  Will this work?  I have over 20k photos so using Mobile Me or some "cloud" will be much too slow.  Both Mac's use Lion.  Thanks for your help.   David

    I could have sworn that I read about a work flow which would be what you need over on http://aperture.maccreate.com but cannot for the life of me find it now.
    The closest I came was this: http://aperture.maccreate.com/2010/07/30/share-libraries-between-aperture-users- and-use-dropbox-to-simplify/
    From what I remember of the workflow, it focused on leaving the masters behind on the iMac (larger drive) and setting the preview to maxium resolution so that you can view the photos while on the road.
    It was something along the lines of:
    Set your preview size to maxium
    Make all photos referenced instead of managed.
    Copy/move your now small library from iMac to laptop
    shoot out in the field, import photos as managed.
    Move the library back from laptop to iMac
    make photos from the recent shoot referenced instead of managed.
    If you do the copy/move thing then you have to plan ahead and move the library to the laptop before heading out. This is because Aperture won't let you merge two libraries if they're copies of the same library.
    If instead you select a number of (or all) projects and select "export as project" you then have two different libraries - one for your laptop and one for your iMac. You can then merge the two libraries to get photos from one to the other.
    Allen points out that merging libraries repeatedly isn't super stable. I don't know; I've never followed this process. This is just what I remember from http://aperture.maccreate.com
    What I usually do is make a new library out in the field and just import that into my main library when I get back to to my iMac. Works for me. Of course, I can't show off my older photos, but that's what flickr is for.

  • How can I find tracks in itunes Music Library that I have NOT copied to my

    HI,
    I have more tracks in my iTunes music library than will fit on my iPod. for each track in my iTunes music libary I'd like to see whether or not that track is also on my iPod. I know I can do this track by track by looking up each track in the iPod directory but that could take months. What I want is to be able to filter or sort my iTunes music library by this attribute so I can visually scan down the list and see what I'd like to move over to the iPod (after making space on the iPod by deleting songs I'm tired of)
    How can I do this and what version of iTunes is needed.
    thanks -- Dan

    The .xml file is basically just a playlist of your entire Library. You can create one by going to your main Library List view and click File > Export.. - then just save a new .xml file to the desktop (or wherever).
