How can i find my software type on my iMac?
Hello,
I want to upgrade mine software to Lion, but I must first buy the Snow Leopard. I don't know how I can see on my iMac if I all ready have the ''Leopard'' version on it or the ''Tigre''. Can somebody tell me how I can do this?
You can find your software version by pulling down the Apple menu and selecting 'About This Mac...". Your current OS X version will be displayed.
10.4.x = Tiger (where x = any number)
10.5.x = Leopard
10.6.x = Snow Leopard
10.7.x = Lion

Open System Profiler in Utilities folder. Look for the Model ID on the right. Then see the following:

I have a few phones under a shared family plan.
I wanted to know what type of data is being sent over them, wether this is VOIP, Streaming Audio or Video.I think the only way you can find out is if you look at the device itself.

My software updates available contains a number of program updates. I have a daily data allowance of 400 mb. I want to prioritise my downloads, but cannot make a decision without knowing how big each update is. So, how can I find this out ?
This information does not seem to be easily available anymore, in many cases. See, for instance, the discussion at:

Also, be aware that the trend seems to be for updates to be automatically downloaded without user interaction, ready for installation! You can uncheck "Download newly available updates in the background" inside System preferences under "Software update". I think it is checked by default.
The best answer, although I don't think it's a great one, seems to be that once you start the download, the download window will show you how big it is. In previous versions of OS X, the size of the download appeared in the update screen, but has now gone.

Hopefully a simple question. My father-in-law passed recently, leaving behind an unopened copy of CS 5.5 Master Collection Student and Teacher Edition for Macs. How can I find out if he registered this software without opening it? After finding out how much this software runs, I'd like to sell or return it if possible to give the money to my mother-in-law for funeral costs.

i want to update my phone, but i purchased many apps and music on the phone. it won't let me authorize my computer so i cannot update. i don't want to deauthorize all my computers. how can i find out which 5 computers i have authorized? also how can i update the software?
This is a tedious solution, which is stupid! And some users report an inability to reauthorize a computer after an "en masse” deauthorization. I can’t believe Apple doesn’t provide a list or menu to find out which computers you’ve authorized! Obviously, APPLE knows (or else they couldn’t tell us how many computers we have authorized)--so why can’t they give us access to that information about our own computers??!!!
And for an already-authorized computer with a hard drive that’s since been replaced and upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite, would it be recognized as a “new computer” and require authorization? Would its previous incarnation (i.e., with the old hard drive and OS) be considered a separate computer? Some users report they can’t authorize a computer after an OS upgrade because of that. Can’t believe we have to do such a bass-ackwards kludge! -
