How can I find out if I have a Superdrive for burning DVDs. And if I don't can anyone recommend a good external DVD burner?

Look in AppleSystemProfiler.
The optical drive is listed in different places depending on your OS, in Panther it will be under ATA BUS
If you have an iMac G4, you can buy & install the same internal drives that are used in desktop G4's.
In the UK, the NEC ND-4550A is one inexpensive option. It is better to go with an internal drive, and significantly cheaper than external.
You can read owner reviews @ xlr8yourmac's Drive Compatibility database. Choose "DVD+R/RW + DVD-R/RW Drives" as Drive Type

hi all, i'm having all kinds of problems with after effects cs4. the current problem i'm having is i'll be working on a project, it starts to slow down and become unresponsive, i try to save but then it crashes and everything i've done is lost. opengl is off but i don't think that's the problem because opengl isn't affecting any of my other programs like cinema 4d and i even tried taking out the opengl from the plugins folder but i was still getting opengl error messages with certain effects like the rotoscoping effect. i was wondering if maybe this might be a codec problem since i heard that ae loads codecs at start. how can i find out if a corrupted codec is affecting my after effects?

You remove them all! ;-) I think you are going about this the wrong way.
a)If you ever installed any third-party CoDecs manually, they will be listed in the "Add or Remove Programs" section or have an uninstaller.
b)If those CoDecs were auto-installed e.g. via a web-browser, they will leave traces in the extension lists or even appear as separate entries somewhere as well.
c) If the CoDecs were part of a program, then by all rights, you really should know which programs those are and know how to remove them.
Failing that, simply uninstall Quicktime completely. Reinstall it from scratch. Likewise, manually download a full install of Windows Media Player and reinstall it using the "Repair" option. Everything else is pure specualtion - AE may scan your CoDecs on startup, but if you never import any footage using them, they will not be initialized and not cause trouble.
And honestly: That Mac talk is not worth a dime. Final Cut Pro alone comes with 30 or so extra CoDecs, many of which have been known to be just as troublesome to use with Adobe products and you can encounter the same situation easily any time...

multithreading, there are several things to consider. This link:

LabVIEW uses a user-level thread package, which means that LabVIEW is
controlling the multithreading so the Operating System does not. You can
configure/manipulate some of the threading issue in LabVIEW through this VI: [LabVIEW]\vi.lib\Utility\sysinfo.llb\threadconfig.vi.
You can also gain a litle of information about your VI priority and execution
system of your VI by using a VI property node. You can also see
significant performance gains by using the LabVIEW execution profiler
(Tools->Advanced->Profile VI) to learn about where your program is
spending time/memory.

i want to update my phone, but i purchased many apps and music on the phone. it won't let me authorize my computer so i cannot update. i don't want to deauthorize all my computers. how can i find out which 5 computers i have authorized? also how can i update the software?
This is a tedious solution, which is stupid! And some users report an inability to reauthorize a computer after an "en masse” deauthorization. I can’t believe Apple doesn’t provide a list or menu to find out which computers you’ve authorized! Obviously, APPLE knows (or else they couldn’t tell us how many computers we have authorized)--so why can’t they give us access to that information about our own computers??!!!
And for an already-authorized computer with a hard drive that’s since been replaced and upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite, would it be recognized as a “new computer” and require authorization? Would its previous incarnation (i.e., with the old hard drive and OS) be considered a separate computer? Some users report they can’t authorize a computer after an OS upgrade because of that. Can’t believe we have to do such a bass-ackwards kludge! -

I don't believe that there is a way to do that. I would sugest using automatic downloads to keep your apps synced across both phones. You might also want to note that just about any app you have ever download will be available for free download via icloud.

You might try to see if you can change your security questions. Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account > Password and Security.
I'm able to do this, others say they need to input answers to their current security questions in order to make changes, I'm inclined to think its worth a try, you don't have anything to lose. -

Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. I have an iPhone 4S that is a replacement of a defective 4s. When I activated the newer phone, I believe I transferred over everything except pictures (had multiple failures trying to backup and restore). Now the phone shows over 3Gb of data backed up in the cloud from my old 4s. How can I find out what is in this backup? It is preventing me from backing up my new 4s to the cloud due to the amt of data. It may be duplicated info that I don't need or I may want to archive the backup or parts of it like pictures.
You can not access the backup directly.
Did you restore your replacement from this backup?
If so then you already have everything in the backup on your device.
If not, you can wipe the device and restore from this backup:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content & Settings

If OS X is reporting you need to remove some items you obviously have a more severe issue.
To fix your issue is likely too complicated and lengthy to go into all of it here as it sounds like a OS X issue, it will require the services of person very familiar and experienced with Mac's to first recover your data and then restore OS X back to a functional state which may or may not require new hardware/software installed.
If your under warranty or AppleCare, take it in for service.
You can also hire the services of a local Mac computer support technician experienced in these matters.
Have them look at your Wifi, RAM amount, extra storage and computer backup proceedures in the process.

Unless you left the iPhone in the possession of another person it could not be hacked...and unless it has been jailbroken it cannot get a virus.
An email account can be hacked at the service provider's end...this has happened a number of times with gmail.
Do a reboot, hold both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.
If that does not help the battery situation, make a backup of your content and then restore to factory condition, Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings, and then restore from the backup you just made.
Contact your email service provider and let them know you are getting material that could mean they have been hacked.
