How can I find the file of my Apple Device shared project?

I'm not sure if this a Final Cut Pro question or an iTunes question...
I shared a project from Final Cut Pro to the Apple Devices (so that I could watch the video on my Apple TV).  I found the video in Home Movies in iTunes, and actually watched it successfully through Apple TV.
But a day or two later, when I look for the video again in Home Movies in iTunes , I get this message: "The video [video title] could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
Yes I would.
But I don't know where to look in Finder to find it?  Does anyone know where these video files actually go when we share them?  (Is this one of those cases where it's a hidden file, and I need to unhide them to see them?  If so, how do I do that?)

The step by step process...
When my project is ready to go,
1. I select File>Share>Apple Devices 1080p
2. That opens an Apple Devices 1080p pop-up window
3. I use the default setting (which says it adding to playlist "Library"
4. after a few minutes I receive a notification of "share successful)
5. I open itunes, and can watch the newly shared video on my computer screen (my other videos are listed too, but if I try to watch them I get the message "The video [video name] could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?")
6. I find the video on Apple TV by going to my computer, my library, Home Movies
7. I watch the video on Apple TV (some of the old videos are listed, others aren't)
8. Soon thereafter, I return to iTunes on my computer, and now, when I try to watch the newly-shared video, I get the same error message I documented above.
9. I return to the Apple TV and now I get an error message when I try to watch the video
This is iTunes 11.1.0.50
and FCP 10.1.4
Also, I'm editing videos with an external drive as my video source.  I don't know if that has anything to do with anything.
Also, also, per your suggestion, I looked at the Library icon>Show Package Contents>Project Name>Shared Items but couldn't find any of the video files that disappeared.  But I did run a quick test to watch all my steps, and I COULD find the file of that latest video.  So now I  know where to look.  That said, I'm going to leave the latest test video there, and see if it disappears soon too.

    Where your backups are stored
The folder where your backup data is stored depends on your computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in these places:
        Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your Home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
        Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then press Return.
        Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, then choose Run. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then click OK.

My Ipad and macbookair have been stolen. How can I find the imei code of both devices considering that were all registered on icloud?

Unless you have configured iCloud on the MacBook Air and made sure that Find My Mac was turned on, you can't track that.  And even if you did do that, that is not a foolproof method of tracking, as it relies on the thief connecting to the internet using the guest account on the machine and not getting in to your account and disabling Find My Mac or wiping the hard drive and installing a clean system.
As for the iPad, similar rules apply there.  If it is a wifi-only iPad, it cannot be tracked any other way.  If it has 3G, your wireless carrier may be able to help you track it.

Not possible as purchases can be downloaded to all devices using the same Apple ID.

I am trying to decide if I want to download a tv show [Doctor Who] in standard definition or high definition.  How can I see the file size before I purchase the show from iTunes?

    1. That's only getting the file size of the Preview.
    2. Click on a photo to select it. Then click on the info button. You can get the dimensions and the file size in the top of the pane
Note that the final size of any image will depend on the export settings you choose.

  • We just received our new mac and took it to the store to have the old files from our last computer transferred over.  Now we can't find all our files.  There was more then one user on the old machine.  How can we find the files from the other users?

We need to find where the files for the other user on the computer are now located.  There were two other users on the old machine, which was taken into the store and ALL files were suppose to be transferred over to this computer. HELP!

It appears what happened is the installer though it was looking at a empty drive and just went ahead and installed.
I of course am assuming here you didn't use Disk Utility to format the drive first before installing, that would wipe out your files and programs for sure.
So what to do, what to do.
Well there is hope for you as long as the drive wasn't Filevaulted.
I'll explain. When a hard drive writes data for the first time to a drive, it starts at the very top and works it's way down.
When OS X was installed the first time, it was at the top of the drive, unless you upgraded then the upgraded OS X could have been written elsewhere.
Now when you just reinstalled OS X, the new OS went on the top of the drive, overwriting any data that was there previously, so what was there you have lost forever which is about 8GB or so. If it was the previous OS there, then your more in luck because only the old OS X was overwritten.
The remaining space on the drive still can have a copy of your files, provided it's not overwritten yet.
It's because when a hard drive deletes data or reformats, it doesn't remove the data off the drive or overwrites it immediately, it's just made so it's SPACE is available for new files to be written there.
So technically one can recover the deleted data off a non-encrypted/scrubbed hard drive with special software.
The way it does this is it reads the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, and through a lot of figuring out, can tell what that file is and what it belongs too.
So what you will have to do is this:
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
or if you don't have the skills, then take it to a local PC/Mac tech and they can do a direct image of the drive and then you can run Data Rescue on it to rebuild your files.

    Thanks Rob.
I actually had no clue what the core problem was caused by. So it's Windows itself...that helps some.
I'll resubmit there. It might actually have saved time for it to simply have been moved to there instead of off-topic, though I suppose you have to follow protocol.

My computer is saying it can't find the file 'iTunes64.msi' when I try to update or redownload iTunes how do I fix this? I've tried just about everything I can think of. I am using a dell laptop running windows 7 and have tried changing the file location to run the update in all of my iTunes files as well as when I've tried reinstalling it.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

    You can't do that.
And before you decide to store any music that you own on a computer at work, talk to your IT department. Many organizations do not permit it for legal reasons. Standard policies are that anything stored on company owned computers is the property of the company. It could not be legally stored on their machines unless you transfer the licenses and all copies, physical and digital, to the company, meaning you no longer own the music. If they were to be audited and could not prove that they own the music, they would be subject to copyright violation penalties. Just use your iPod when you're at the office if you want to listen to music.

iDevices are not and have never been backup devices.
Authorizing a computer does not cause media to magically appear.
Media is only where the user puts it.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.
