How can I fix a dead Firefox?

Since my last Firefox update I have not been able to run Firefox. In fact, I can't do anything with it! Can't uninstall, reinstall, nothing. When I try to open Firefox I just get an error sound. I've read through lots if solutions & none work. I can't open the browser window, so any solution that requires that, will not work for me. Firefox file properties states that I have version 23.0.1.4974, & my OS is Windows XP Professional. Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

How can I fix the massive Firefox memory leak?

Firefox will use too much memory, causing it to hang or crash. FIX PLZ! Until a fix is released, anyone have a solution?

Please follow these steps and let me know if these works:
* Open Windows Task Manager
* Click on Processes Tab
* Click on Show Processes from All Users
* You might be prompted for confirmation. Say yes or type the password.
* Search for firefox.exe or similar process
* Right click the process, and select End Process Tree
* Now open Computer > (C:) Drive > Program Files (x86) > Mozilla Firefox > Uninstall > helper.exe
* Run the un-installer
* Restart your PC
* Reinstall Mozilla Firefox

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

Firefox sent an email to me to confirm that I had asked the above question. The email had a link to click. When I clicked it from Firefox, nothing happened. Then I opened IE, signed into Comcast, opened the email, clicked the link, and it brought me here.

I have Firefox 9.0.1, and a few days ago my font became Bold, I am using Times New Roman, this seems to be also the case in IE, but the Chrome is not affected, also the fonts in my Word are fine, how can I fix this problem? Thanks!

So, you do not see any fonts bold that shouldn't be bold?
What are your current default font settings?
If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a (too) high value can cause issues.

Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.

It is better not to increase the minimum font size in case you need a larger font, but use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with overlapping text.

I don't understand the ONE AT A TIME lament, as it's pretty easy to email more than one at a time. Have you tried to and been unable or didn't know that you could?
As for no one receiving, well .... first, review how you're trying to do it and, as a check, email some to yourself. That will be a good first check.

I'm trying to uninstall firefox and reinstall it as it keeps freezing, but it wont close and so I cant reinstall it. How can I fix this?

For the last fortnight or so, firefox kept freezing, but it would always fix itself within a minute or so. I did a computer scan and everything was clean and I reduced the number of tabs I had open to try and speed things up, but even when I had only one tab open, it would freeze. Today, it froze and hasnt fixed itself even after 5 hours, and after ive restarted my laptop. A message keeps popping up about 'a script has stopped working' and whatever I press makes no change (stop script, or continue). Im trying to uninstall and reinstall firefox, but I can't uninstall it until the programme is closed. But I cant close it as it is completely frozen. How can I fix this?

Usually uninstalling and reinstalling only helps if the program files are damaged. When the issue if an add-on or setting, then you wouldn't expect to see any change. (I am assuming that you do not remove all your personal data, as that would blow away your bookmarks.)

Solution update: Disabled XULRunner 1.9.1 extension from Add-ons > Extensions. Problem solved.
