How can I fix my Firefox browser so that PDF files from the Internet do not blur and go out of focus?
When I try to open a PDF document from the Internet, it opens, with sharp resolution; however, within a few seconds, it blurs and seems to have multiple copies being shown on top of each other (ever so slightly mis-aligned). Yet, when I use any other browser, the document opens without losing sharpness.
Also, opening a saved PDF document in Adobe Reader does not cause any loss of sharpness.
Running updated Windows XP; Adobe Reader updated; and Firefox updated.
Firefox's built-in PDF viewer overlays a transparent layer of text over a graphical image so you can copy/paste. It doesn't always line up pixel-perfectly, so if the text is not transparent for some reason, you will see double text.
Could you try switching to the Adobe Acrobat plugin? This article has the steps: [[How to disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer]]. Does that one work correctly?

This means that either your firewall/antivirus is blocking access to Apple's servers, or you have used your computer to jailbreak an iDevice in the past. The link above tells you how to resolve this issue. -

If you want to open it confirm that you do. You will not be asked that question again after the first time you open it
Unless you are keeping Firefox in the .dmg it was downloaded in. That is to say, if you obtained Firefox in a .dmg, and you have kept the .dmg mounted, and are launching Firefox from the mounted .dmg, then you will ALWAYS get that warning. You should copy Firefox from the mounted .dmg to your Applications Folder (or anywhere you prefer), and then eject the mounted .dmg. Unless you need to install Firefox on another system, you can then delete the .dmg. -
I have just upgraded to OSX 10.6.8 and now I cannot open or save PDF files from the internet using either Safari or Firefox. I get a dialogue box saying the QuickTime plugin has failed. Can anyone help?

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X. -
I am a professor and frequently need to open pdfs of academic journal articles from electronic databases. Within the last two or three weeks, when I try to do this using Firefox, only the first page of the pdf displays and the rest are blank. In addition, a bar appears across the top with the message "This pdf file may not display properly." So I have had to switch to Internet Explorer to open the files and do my research. What is going on and how can I fix it so I can open pdf files from the Web in Firefox and have them display properly?
My question is simple - why would you put an application in production that has a lot of bugs? To replace a good and steady Adobe product? My customers will believe that I put a pathetic fallible form online. They are not sophisticated on computers so I just tell them to use IE. Ugh

I migrade my data to my new mac. But the old user xxx is now yyy. On the old imac I can download PDF-Files with the mozilla firefox. There was a copy from the pdf at the desktop!
Now with the new mac mini and the new user, I get an error, because the firefox (safari too) can not oper the folder Users/xxx/Desktop....
Where can I change this settings to yyy???

ULLIIt sounds like you copied your firefox profile across from your other computer and just need to change the destination for downloaded files. Under Firefox->Preferences, look in the Main tab under downloads where it says "Save files to" and click "Choose" to change the destination directory. That ought to fix it.

Remove from the folder /Library/Internet Plug-Ins:
1) AdobePDFViewer.plugin
2) AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
backup these plugins - just in case. -

I can only open one Firefox browser window. When I click the firefox icon from desktop or taskbar to open up another browser window it does not open. I am ablt to open up new tabs within the one window.
Have you tried: click Firefox button > New Tab > New Window '''''OR''''' CTRL+N '''''OR''''' File > New Window (if using the Menu Bar)
Once open, Firefox locks the Profile that is in use and you can not open another window with that Firefox version and Profile combination using the Windows Desktop icon or the Windows Programs list. -

This would be a function of IE and not Thunderbird. Have you set Thunderbird to be your default email client?
