Aperture has the ability to work with files in their existing location. They are called "referenced masters." When you import images, you should select the "In their current location" in the "Store Files:" drop down box. Have a read of the documentation for full specifics. Unsure how you can resolve your duplication; might be some work but next time have a read of the manual first
Information for versions is stored in the Aperture database (library file). The masters can be inside the library file itself, or they can be somewhere else.

Were you not plugged in via USB to begin with?
I would recommend performing some resets just to be on the safe side. Unplug the external HD, and try these steps:

What is the make and model of this recorder? Do you have that information available?
You can still use iTunes to transfer and manage your recorded audio.

Is that what Apple told you when you took your phone and usb cord to the store?

• How can I transfer my contacts, calander, to do list, notes from my Blackberry to the Macbook Pro?

Hi
How can I transfer my contacts, calander, to do list, notes from my Blackberry to the Macbook Pro?

i haven't tried anything yet. Before i downloaded the 5.0 upgrade for my IPAD, i was able to sync my IPAD with my work PC, which has everything in MS Outlook. but I can't sync my IPAD, its been a hassle since this up grade, all my apps we deleted i had reload of them. It's been a pain so I thought maybe if I could sync my blackberry with Mac then I could sync IPAD. MY goal is to have my IPAD fully functional for business.

• How do I sync my iphone to a new mac without loosing the original data

How do I sync my iphone to a new mac without loosing the app data?

You must first sync the iPhone with the old Mac as you normally do, then move the entire iTunes Library from the old Mac to the new one.
An iPhone can only be synced with one computer at a time. When you first sync the iPhone with the new Mac, you will "erase and sync". This will erase the entire phone first, then sync it with the content you moved from the old Mac.
This explains the procedure: iTunes: How to move your music from one computer to another

• Does anyone know how to upload email contacts on my iPhone from iTunes without loosing the phone contacts previously transfered from my older phone??

Does anyone know how to upload email contacts on my iPhone from iTunes without loosing the phone contacts previously transfered from my older phone??

Good Afternoon irish357,
I know the importance of saving and updating your contacts. What type of phone do you have? If you are using Backup Assistant, you have the ability to sync the contacts between your laptop and phone. You will also be able to see if all your contacts are stored on the online portion of the application versus the phone itself. The contacts should be the same for both online and the phone.
I have attached a link below for your reference.

• How can I formate my 32gb usb drive as single FAT partition on my macbook?

How can I formate my 32 GB USB Drive as a single FAT partition only macbook pro? So I will be able to download windows onto my macbook.
Please put each step I have tried everything and its not working at all.
Thanks

Drive Partition and Format
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select the USB drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to MBR then click on the OK button. Set the format type to MSDOS. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.

• I just installed a 3TB hard drive on an early 2008 mac pro and the system doesn't recognize the drive. What now?

I just installed a 3TB hard drive on an early 2008 mac pro and it is not recognized/not visible. What now?

If the drive is correctly installed on to the sled, and the mounting screws are snug, not tight, and the sled is inserted properly so that all the roof-tangs catch as the sled is inserted, failure to show up in Disk Utility means the drive is not useable.
A Bug in 10.8.4 and later precludes Disk Utility ERASE-ing large drives in Internal bays. Use PARTITION only, and create one new partition, GUID partition Map, Mac OS Extended (journaled) Volume.

• What is the FAT file system and how can I format my LEXAR flash drive with it?

Recently, Apple support helped me download my songs form iTunes to a LEXAR flash drive. I connected it to the USB connector in my car. My car's display said
"unsupported". My other LEXAR usb plays music perfectly. What is wrong? My car's manual says that my audio system reads and plays audio files on the USB flash memory device in MP3, WMA, AAC formats. (AAC format files recorded with iTunes only.) How do I correct this problem?

Reformatting the drive will completely erase it so make sure you have copies of the files.
FAT format is an older non-Mac format but is still found on plenty of things such as flash drives. It's the one format that both Macs and Windows computers can fully use but it has limitations outside small-scale use. Your Apple person must have reformatted your drive to Mac format which wasn't very smart of the person since almost nothing except Apple products can work with Mac format. Are you sure you explained how you intended to use the drive, or did you just ask the person how to put files on there?

• I have 2 macs and 2 PC laptops in my home wireless network. Can I use the Airport/Time Capsule hard drive to back up all 4 machines? I know that I will have to use different back up software on the PCs, but is it possible over the wireless network?

I have 2 macs and 2 PC (Windows 7) laptops in my home wireless network. (The iMac is hardwired via ethernet to the Airport/Time Capsule; the others are wireless connections using Airport). I want to use the hard disk drive in the Time Capsule as a network backup drive for all 4 computers. Is this possible? Could someone help me by telling me how to configure it? I know I will have to use different backup software in the 2 Windows 7 Laptops? Do I need to use the Windows backup software, or can I use a third party program like Acronis True Image? Thanks in advance for the help

It is your fault, pondini.. all your fault.
I read of all the things that go wrong restoring Time Machine backups.. particularly stupid things like mail, photo libraries don't go back.. etc. And looking through the incredible number of issues people have here, when their Mac finally takes a dive how hard it is to restore.
I restored a test hard disk from a TC.. and it takes ages and ages to even make up its mind to start.
I worked in computer support for ages, but not Macs.. so my experience is ghost.. ghost images.. on large commercial server setups, can stream restore to multiple computers at once.. even doing it computer by computer the image is simple as network boot to restore. But ghost went the way of Symantec.. sigh!! And was destroyed.
A product like clonezilla, Free linux boot cd.
http://lifehacker.com/5078397/clonezilla-backs-up-and-restores-your-disks
Can backup a Hard disk in just about any format.. yet to try it on a Mac to a TC.. but I will. Boot from CD.. instead of your lost Lion partition which no longer exists (because the hard drive had to be replaced) and the DVD they no longer give you, and restore the entire hard disk in a couple of hours .. to the exact image at the point you made the clone.. in any format, with any partitions.
My bet is that it will kill TM .. but you could be right.
It is just the prospect of all those permission changes, photos and mail libraries etc that worry me.

• My hard drive died but I am able to reach the files on it; can recover myFirefox bookmarks?

Recently, my hard drive crashed but I have a lot of bookmarks I'd really like to keep. I have a hard drive enclosure that allows me to reach the files on that hard drive through another computer. I was hoping that I'd be able to rescue those book marks through this. I had Windows 7 and Firefox 3.6. Any help would be really appreciated! Thank you!!

Sorry, it's been awhile since I have read that article, looks like it is slightly different than I recall.
You need to locate your old Firefox Profile folder.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox#Finding_the_profile_folder
Start with the section titled - '''Navigating to the profile folder'''
You need the '''places.sqlite''' file. Copy that file from the old Profile folder into the new Profile folder, replacing the same named file that is in the new Profile folder.
