How can I freeze (lock) my Spread Sheet layout in Numbers?
I have problems with Numbers changing my Spread Sheet layout
by adding extra Rows while I am not looking, or while I engage in dragging its pages with the mouse to see info on adjacent pages.
The layout I use consists of a Spread Sheet containing 4 "print" pages, ea. 8.5" x 11" wide, with a total of 36 Rows and 28 Columns.
The SS is filled with new cell values daily, but the formulas stay mostly the same. The print pages are visible on the computer screen side by side, and each Row extends over these 4 pages.
It happens sometimes that I have to change a formula while making entries on a cell in "page 4", and then need to "accept"
the new entry and formula "aaalll" the way on the very left of "page 1". So here I try to scroll left or drag the present view
with the mouse. I also have to use the "Zoom" at 150 % because I cannot see well on my MacBook Air, everything is rather small.
I suspect that during dragging with the mouse I drag cells or rows without knowing, and that this will add extra Rows derailing some formulas or values because a cell is suddenly in a different Row.
It is difficult to find which Row was added and what values where thus changed. One just sees 38 rows instead of the orihinal 36! The only way is to move all the cell values out of rows 37 and 38, and find where theey used to be on the previous day's saved locked sheet. Needless to say that when that happens twice in a days work, it means a lot of lost time.
I have checked the Numbers Manual and searched Help Info for ways to lock an established cell layout and could noy find anything.
I cannot believe it, maybe I missed something. I worked for about 35 years with Clarisworks and Appleworks Spread Sheets and never had the same problem, layouts were locked by design, and could only be changed by special procedures.
Now is there a way to freeze or lock the basic layout of a spread sheet in Numbers?

I guess I was just beating around the bush to avoid simply saying, "No, you cannot lock the layout." So there it is.
I am not sure why you are scrolling to "accept" a formula. That is unclear. I guess you building a new formula and need to use a cell from an early column. It is also unclear to me as ot how you are actually adding extra rows. I haven't been able to do it on my machine without clicking the little arrow in the row number or using Option-↑ (or -↓). Option-↑ would add a row above the row you are in if they somehow got pressed. Do you have a program running that could be interpreting something your are doing for those keystrokes? If I was standing at your shoulder I might be able to see what is doing it.
What I am suggesting is that you play around with your trackpad settings so that you are not selecting and tapping in your table while you attempt to scroll. I do have one sheet with two tables side by side with a total of 425 columns and I can scroll past them without modifying them. So perhaps turning off tap to click in system preferences will help. If you have an option to decrease trackpad sensitivity then try that (I don't, but I remember having it somewhere in the past). If you are using a mouse see what you can do to decrease the sensitivity for a click. If your computer is old it could be that the trackpad is wearing out and throwing random clicks. You might try using another input device if you have one.

How can we set a process chain to trigger the nodes w/o manual intervention

We have a Master PC which has the loading & activation of some Hierarchies.Wats happening is some of the hier activations are failing (we got track of the root cause as well) and the nodes below are not getting triggered automatically, eventhough they have been designed to get triggered irrespective of success or failure of this hierarchy activation. The chain prompts for the u2018Status change & trigger the following eventsu2019 opo-up and only when it was said u2018yesu2019, the subsequent node gets triggered in the chain. If this manual intervention was not there, the Chain gets struck at the activation node, whic is running in yellow status for long, though a short dump - error has already been thrown.
My query is how can we set a process chain not to anticipate the manual intervention of chnaging the status & trigger events pop-up

i'm not sure abt the query but what i got thru ur qustion is u have to automtaically go to the next load/step even the proceess chain fails in the step......
for that we have the same master meta chains with link of so many local chains...for this even if there are some interventions/fails in between the process chains it never gets stopped....
it goes to the next step and we'll work, analyse and finish the failed load manually....the next day it'll be
fine...
b4 to this make sure that there is no dependency for the previous loads....
And now the solution i found for this is in the process chain design itself.......
while giving the links itself we'll be getting the options as status RED,GREEN and RED(or)GREEN.....now if u got for the third option the event goes to the next step even it is unsuceesful....

Iam not very sure about total time and individual times.
But you can go to tcode rspcm for monitoring the daily process chains. it gives you details like 1. status 2.start date & time 3. Log ID of each process chain.
or you can go to log view of particular individual chain to know how long it has run.
SM37: tcode for simple job selection.
here you check the status of job.
you can select for certain conditions like
1. scheduled
2. released
3. ready
4.active
5. cancelled

We are using phased submissions. I can see that changing the display options on a grid will show the current Process Level for the processing unit defined by the POV. But how can we break this down by phase?

Try what is suggested in Page 243 of the User's Guide:
You can display multiple submission phases, view review level status, and perform process management actions for multiple phases in Process Control.
If you select Single period view, you can select one or more submission phases to include in the columns. For each column, you can display one or more of these options: Calculation Status, Journals, Review Level, Pass/Fail, and Validation. If selected, Review Level, Pass/Fail, and Validation are included for each phase. Since Calculation Status and Journals apply to the entire processing unit, they are displayed only once regardless of how many phases are selected. If you select All period view, you can select Calculation Status or Review Level information for the columns. If you select Review Level information, you should select one submission phase
for display. When you select All periods, or Tree for the display, the filter option is unavailable.

How can I bring a process to the foreground?

I work in a manufacturing facility, and I'm working on developing a system to send process related notifications to assembly line workers. Events in an Oracle database trigger the display and use the UTL_TCP package to send a message containing a URL to the target PC. The PC has a small Java program listening for the message, which then opens the URL in Internet Explorer in kiosk mode using:
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe -k \"" + request + "\"");where "request" is a variable that contains the URL.
The problem I'm having is that when other applications are running, the IE window often opens behind them. I need to be able to force it to be on top of all other windows. How can I do this? I'm also open to suggestions for other approaches that don't involve using IE.

Thanks for the suggestion. That does indeed cause the browser to open on top of other applications, but it still leaves me with a few different issues. I want the displayed page to take up the entire screen, hence launching IE in kiosk mode, which I don't see a way to do through the Desktop class. I also need to be able to close the browser window when I want the message to go away. In the current implementation, I'm doing this by calling the destroy() method of the Process returned from Runtime.exec().

How can I watch the process is running in program?

In my program, I fork some processes, and I must watch them timing, how can I know that these processes is running?

There could be many way for to see what process is doing.
Easiest is to use "truss" on the process or the program.
Please see the man page of truss.
You can do :
truss -f -p pid_of_process
or
truss -f -o /tmp/out -p pid_of_process &
tail -f /tmp/out
or
truss -f program_exe
Otherwise you can use dbx, run the process in dbx and set
breakpoints at various levels.

How can i end the Process chain based on some condition

I have a scenario where i have a main pc chain which call the new chain at the end which in turn again call pc1. So its more like a closed loop .
pc1-->pc2->pc1
What main chain does is it reads some field value from a dso and assign that to some variable and set some flag to identify that value has been used. My second chain just run the report using the same variables assign by first chain. Now i have to design the main chain such that when all the values have been read from the dso, it should exit and should not trigger 2nd chain. How can i achieve this scenario.

How can I find the "process code" in a Service Notification

In the Transaction IW52 I am trying to enter the values for "Fault code" and "sub-header". Now I need to know how to find out which "process code" is my notification is assigned to. This entry is needed in the tab object data in the section additional information when pressing in the field fault code.

Hi Alex,
The Process Flow and Start Process button are not enabled because you have selected the Task Definition item('Display Name Age') in the Processes and Tasks table. Please select Process Defintion itme('prcNameAge' ).
This should resolve your issue.
